4 STR :2 DEX VS Full DEX at 280

Assumptions*

  1. Full DEX stat distribution : 11 strength, 367 dex
  2. 4 Str : 2 Dex stat distribution : 433 strength, 96 dex
  3. Weapon - http://www.tosbase.com/database/items/164107/, 589 avg damage (+8)
    4)Skill - Lvl 15 Barbed Arrow (2259 damage)
    5)Monster with 15 crit resist
    6)Crit Rate for FULL DEX - (423-15)(42/280)=61.2%
    7)Crit RATE for FULL STR - (152-15)    (42/280)=20.55%

Average damage (FULL DEX)
(2859 * 1.5 + 11) * 0.612 + 2859* 0.388 = 3740.586

Average damage (2STR:1DEX)
(32811.5+433) * 0.2055 + (32810.7945) = 3707.10425

Above assumptions ignores monster defence, missile attribute damage, other equipment, etc. Bottom line is, the better your gear is, the more value you get from your dex. It might well be faster to level with a STR build, but since there is no stat reset potion aside from DLC 3 founderā€™s pack, you should go full DEX if youā€™re looking at the horizon.

Does the crit buff only effect white hits ? If not then a crit buff is a crit buff which is good isnā€™t it ?

And from what Iā€™ve read a lot of people donā€™t use their ranger skills at late game ? So why rng c3 just for another buff ?

Also does kneeling shot only effect auto hits aswell ?

Please donā€™t take this the wrong way Iā€™m not questioning your knowledge or ideas Iā€™m just asking curious questions to better understand the class before I roll one

Those figures assume you crit every hit you wonā€™t, not even close people seems to forget that. Sure your damage will be slightly higher if you crit but your white attacks will deal significantly less.

The OP also suggested that gems can make up for the crit difference between a str and a dex build. That would be a 40% crit difference based on my above illustration. Can OP enlighten us as to where he finds gems that grants 40% crit? Thank you.

I posted further up in the thread regarding my idea and ach c2 was a choice I was Gona make along with either hunt c2 or sap c2 since I wasnā€™t sold on rng c3 myself and I know sap works with Str build.

So just wanted to get more knowledge about the idea behind the buffs and rng c3 choice

ā€œThose figures assume you crit every timeā€. What do you mean? My formula states that crit chance for DEX is 61.2%. It factors in the non crits as part of average damage. OP please read the equation carefully, thanks.

Actually, i take back what i said about strength possibly being better for levelling. You canā€™t possibly have a good levelling experience gimping your evasion.

If you get hit with this build your clearly doing something wrong, magical attacks you canā€™t avoid anyways.

I use Xbow/offhand for grinding & 2H bow on bosses

How does Arch>Ranger>Ranger>Ranger>Fletch>Schawr>Musket sound.

If that doesnā€™t work my other option was to just take out fletch and go Arch 2 instead.

Iā€™m currently level 70 with about 80 str and 30 dex and 30 con. (Something around that).

Should I keep pumping my str or go more dex?

Iam currently c1 fletcher and wanna know when the fantastic aoe kicks in

On huge Pulls barrage is Stuck on the frontline
And cross fire 5 does Not Performance that well

But on Missions and dungeons i feeling like the most broken Single target Killer just the aoe worrys me

Barrage does insane damage all the way through to 280 and Crossfire is also incredibly good, you should have absolutely no issues with AoE at all.
