They were useful, for farming cards and hat materials lol.
What the smart people usually do is save up ALL the exp cards, and when the GM ārarelyā gets online and turns on 2x exp for about 30 mins, then use all of themā¦ you would get double the exp from cards as well as monsters & quests
Most melee class I know went for the payon dungeon/pyramid/orc village (those map exist in the beta version of eRO Iām playing), which gave much more exp than the place you mentioned.
That aside, donāt forget you can spent days having fun finding the optimal spot for you to grind in RO, whereas in ToS you are just stuck with that few map.
Also, with the correct equipment and skill set, you can even start grinding at a much higher level monsters (high orc, clock etc) at first class. These kind of choices are not available nor explorable in ToS, which makes grinding in ToS much more boring than in RO.
I do agree once you get to the optimal spot, it starts to get boring for RO though. But there are too many options to play with until you starts to get bored.
hes talking low lvls while payon falls in that category
orcs and pyramid fall into mid lvls.
Nope tos and ragnarok are the same in this respect. ask around get told good grinding spot go to x spot / or look up datatbase monsters in your lvl range select weakest monster to most xp.
I agree with this. I wish killing things above your lvl was more rewarding but the current monster xp cure does not make it so.
No, it is not, beside itās an mmorpg, players should be able to find themselves without using the wiki or something.
Thatās for solo grind!!!
You will be the first, right?
yea but you donāt have to do that all these dunces getting stuck at lvls simply have to hit N to see the zones they passed near by with their lvl, and when you go to one they usually chain into more of a similar lvl.
When i passed by the farm on my first character and found out about it, i face palmed so hard because it was on my map clear as day because i used a map next to it.
Nah that was for early parties as well. Baylan 3 for example was very popular for groups as was Geffen 1.
Itās not the same, you pretty much can try out every option within one hour in ToS, but you have to try many different maps in RO until you decide āThis is my grinding spotā.
um in tos i changed zones with diff classes to maximize my kill rate on ragnarok unless i had a good element weapon to skew my selection there was always 1 map that was best because the monsters were weak and gave the best xp proportionally.
Not saying i wouldnāt prefer for tos to have a bigger world but i think your remembering ragnarok better then it was/is .
I agree that RO had more variety since that is impossible to disagree with, lol.
Not really, I would change at most a few map in ToS, but I remember going through more than 30 maps to find a sweet grinding spot (most of them works, but finding a new spot is always exciting), changing my equipment and stuff just to gain a better exp rate.
Yes, in both game it always has one spot with the most optimum exp gain, but you can play around much more to find out that secret spot in RO (maybe you can do this in ToS, but I canāt really find as much secret spot as compared to RO).
And as you said, there are different best spot depending on your equipment, party composition, and build. Thereās just so much more option to play around with for grinding in RO.
If you didnāt go through those in RO, you are probably not exploring much in RO.
He is talking about before second job.
no i just played enough characters to know the optimal route for all the classes i cared about lol.
How long did you actually take to find out the optimal route? I would say it definitely took you longer than ToS.
Once you find out the optimal route, itās the beginning of infinite boringness in grinding. Thatās true for every game.
depended on the class most not long, on old merchants it was hard because you were so weak at the start even with good gear.
I think the problem here is the linearity of the game. The handholding is too much when the hand slowly disappear casual gamers are left clueless and they donāt know what to do anymore thatās why they quit. Anyways I think this game wasnāt made for them the fact that it has 500+ lvl cap is enough reason to stay away from the game if youāre a casual gamer. And about grinding, IMC is doing itās best to fix it they made multiple maps with new set of low lvl monsters for alternative grinding spot. Iām just hoping that they will increase the amount of xp we can get on mobs
Canāt understand why, i broke 85-86 wall very easy, i did all quest F1 => F5 and Gytis Settlement Area => Tenants Farm, then used exp card, still have more than 10 exp lv5 cards after reached lv 86
And I only grind a bit for getting Vikaras core
I would like to see you playing RO in pre-open beta. You would last less than 10 seconds before killing the game.
Look up the Ragnarok Updates Changelog in the wiki if you want an idea of how it was.
I did mentioned somewhere in my post that IMC still can change the current boring grinding model because itās still in CBT.
I do agree when I started playing RO itās already in open beta though.
This is much like the old zelda / ff7 games they are not good to todayās standards (except for maybe the story writing but thats not true for ff7 awful story) but they are protected by a huge layer of nostalgia so they get a free pass.
Mind you these are RPGS but the point is nostalgia bubble.
I donāt really get why we are comparing the boringness of the current grinding model to RO though. Casual players not being able to stay will still remain a problem for the current state of ToS (and again I must emphasize that they can improve, but they first need to know that they are scaring the casual gamer away).
