That is so true, the only viable spots are where there are a lot of mobs and very fast respawn, at least in RO you didn’t have to rely on one good spot possible per map.
No one wants to rush max level LOL. People want the grind to start AT LEAST at level 150 or 200. THATS OVER 400 LEVEL to grind.
“But what is the difference?” you may ask, well its simple. At level 150 you have:
- More Skills
- A variety of places to grind
- A feel of how the character you wanted to try plays out
- Probably more friends playing the game/close people to grind with
- More available content
- More sp/hp pool so you dont have to sit every few mobs to regen mana, or go poor on pots.
Where are you farming to only get 73 exp per monster…???
Did you noticed, all the mobs have exp at 50-150XP? Their exp should incearse.
Sorry, I only played the KR version, at 45 I was getting 370~ exp from monsters on Chapel Underground.
So this is not a matter of higher exp needed to level up, but monsters that give too little (well, has the same result, just clarifying the problem)
Some interesting thoughts. I read somewhere that skills are used in rotation due to high cooldowns. Thus having more skills would also increase rate of sp consumption, which (may) even out the increasing sp pool, so potions will probably still be required (although I never really had issues with using pots. I use 1 every 5 minutes or so, and also only 1 per boss). But I suppose more skills makes grinding more fun.
With regards to variety of places, I was having a quick glance on the world map and only find that there are only 2 seperate places to grind, so not alot of variety in my opinion.
I know it’s been said already here, but this isn’t RO. It may have it’s similarities, but it’s not the same game. So sure, while it took a while to level there, there’s no use in comparing the two
I think the EXP rate as-is will be much more manageable in later tests/release.
Remember, we’re still missing a lot of quests and content. Things like repeatable quests, zones to fill the level gaps, and such are all still missing from the game.
Not only that, but you have to realize that we’re playing the game blind and naked here, even in games like WoW the time to get to cap took weeks to do at launch, but as people became learned and experienced with the game one could get to cap in a handful of days if they knew what they were doing. After release this kind of EXP rate will seem much more appropriate than it is now.
Shouldnt it be fine to compare it with RO? I mean time is relative, so there need to be something to compare it with in order to judge it fast or slow. And RO being known for slow level progression, it at least gives an indication to those who are not too familiar with the MMORPG gaming scene, how slow it feels like.
With the KR rate there is no need for another zones, nor repeatables quests tho.
Why not just ask for the updates they made instead to ask for the creation of new content?
It would be a lot easier and faster this way.
Obviously it’s fine to use it as a general comparison, but to say that everything here is perfectly fine because RO took this long, or RO did this and that, is just silly. We’re supposed to be reviewing this game as it’s own thing, I could easily say that pre-BigBang Maplestory was so much more difficult than that TOS so the exp rates here are fine, but that wouldn’t make much sense for TOS as it’s own game. I’m just saying that a final decision of “the exp rates/levels are fine because RO was much harder” isn’t a good way to test this game.
People are quite silly, they got to level 40-50 and think the grind is fine, yeah good luck getting over 300… Hahah.
For me the rush to the end would be to access end game content. There obviously isn’t any yet, since few games release with this kind of thing. But I’m hoping TOS gets some good raids that require a large party and lots of coordination and skill.
i played today and grind from lvl 30 to 40,always in party (and make good encounters, actually adding each other on steam) and our only reason for killing hundreds of mobs was not the exp of the mobs, but the hopes of the spawn of a blue monster.
that is what i felt today, like playing lottery.
i still think the game looks amazing, really like it,my only issue is the exp rate.
“I suppose that they are locking the players in those levels sections to make sure that the players will get experience enough about the game to give them a feedback and find/report bugs. My advice: if you have hit lv30, try to create another char.”
Maybe they want us to polish the early game, see if we can reach the max level or the end game early then who would spare some time reporting. Yea there are still of course but unlike now. People need to do each quest and talk to every npc we encounter along the way just for xp. Maybe that’s why cbt is only 6days but with this, intCbt2 for sure.
The grind is perfect. Casuals need to go back to WoW or whatever if the grind is too much for them. Max level should take a couple years, not a couple weeks.
Funny comment, if the grind for max level should take years then this game will be half dead very quickly, if you have to start a long, slow grind around level 30-40 which is about 10% of the way in levels then the game will die very fast considering the tier of gear are as follow, level 1, 15, 40, 75, 120, 170 and more I don’t know, the thing is until you reach that last level where you can get the last gear then you are worthless for pvp or other difficult end game stuff, if getting to that point of being useful is way too long people will drop out.
What are you talking about?
Two days to level 70, any class, pre-Juno, starting from a new server. Server release 2x exp and drop rates event. meaning it would’ve taken four days max without the exp boost. What we are facing in this Beta is just plain dumb.
Playing as a Wizard. I spam these, we are lucky they are hella cheap.
