The brazilian situation and the shout chat

What can I say about this situation?

Well, it happens.

In fact, the community only increases the needless quarrel, from both sides. If I’m not wrong, there’s an “Ignore/Block” interface in this game.

Why don’t you people just start to use it?

Seriously: I barely speak in portuguese - when I do, it’s through /s or /p chats with my fellow countrymen. What I noticed is that people get mad just too easily with foreigners speaking anything that’s not English in the /y chat.

Ignore it! If you can’t understand, you probably won’t be interested in whatever is written in there. And if it becomes spam, just ignore or block whoever is ruining your game experience. Chill and play your game.

Oh, and before I forget: Not everyone who speaks portuguese and spams “HUEHUE” and stuff of that sort in the yell chats are, in fact, brazilian. Think about it.

This is how racism starts.

This issue is the “every MMORPG’s” karma. It will be hard to fix it, because you can’t change the player’s xenophobia.

It’s an international server. So speak an international language ffs. You speaking in your own language where none other can join in the fun or joke calls for getting flamed.

This game is supposed to be fun for all players but you made it the other way around. So if you simply can’t abide by that simple unwritten rule, GTFO.

Anyway, here’s an analogy. You’re invited to a party with people of many culture come together. Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Brazilians, French, etc. You don’t shout your jokes in your language and expect people to laugh about it. And neither do you talk to people of other culture in your language. You speak a common language that they may or may not understand: English. But if you really need to speak your own language, you speak in your own circle made up of your own same race. And if you complain people not liking you because you yourself decides to segregate from others, well you brought it upon yourself.

Here’s a suggestion on this matter. Make a few separate chat channels something like what Tera did. Maybe in ToS, make it a few channels and people with common sense would shout in that specific channel with their own language. Don’t spam other channels if you don’t want to get flamed. Also, to help differentiate these channels (especially for those that use “all” chat), make them color coded.

Eh? Ignorance on both side is just a excuse my friend. Or you’ll gonna say ignorance justifies everything? Even be a xenophobic like kind? If you think like that i’m very sorry for you.

Don’t cares about your viewpoint from a gamer or not, it’s the same for me and means nothing. I respect your opinion, but not your “reasons” for being so mean because some stupids BR kids tried to spoil your game.

I guess the simplest option would be to IP ban all Latin-American IPs. That way every person is happy.

Yeah, nice way. Do that and lost eighty porcent the players :smirk:

Let’s begin from the beginning (lol). It’s not “none” that can join your fun/joke in the br case, because like I said, the brazilian palyerbase is huge and it’s not like you have a flag of your country in your character, so if you want to find brazilians, you need to start from somewhere. But the problem in what you said is not that others that can’t join you… wtf man, you gonna cry just because you can’t understand people speaking in another language and can’t join them? Just ignore, it’s not of your business. The problem is FLAMING. Yes, it’s a big problem in fact and what normally destroy virtual/internet communities.

Why people need to get out? Because you want to? Is it just like this, you say “those guys that have no relations with me are speaking things that I can’t understand so they need to get out of the playground because I don’t like them”. It’s arbitrary and dictatorial.

About your analogy it’s like I said, if you can’t understand what they are saying, probably they are not talking to you. It’s the same if people start to talk about, I dunno, Freud jokes and you don’t know psychoanalysis and don’t get them, but you want them to leave the party because you don’t get the “Oedipus complex thing and the mother jokes”.
EDIT: But your idea of multiple channels like other said is good, that could work for better.

“Every person”. Like I said: arbitrary and dictatorial.
The region lock system work on different terms, it’s for just one delimited region and for others reasons, like the limit of rights that the publishers have, just so you know.

The faster all these BR’s get IP locked into their own regions the better this will become.

Well… I don’t like the part of a cash price on it… But a hard time limiter is the best. And for gold sellers, like to others infractor you have to punish it according, just ban their account, IP, w/e, it’s like dealing with spammers, but these are a special case (they break the game economy). But to this work we need good GMs. And make the block list unlimited, please.

This aint happening.

Sigh… If you make a Latin American server in Brazil or closer, in other words with lower ping, you don’t need to block IP. It’s so simple.
Those brazilians that you don’t like not even want to play with foreign people. And still, like others said because of the stigma not every “HUEHUEHUE BRBRBR” in chat is an actual brasilian, but I think with no brazilians in server those trolls would be satisfied… or not.

Well that was only on one topic. Jokes. How about if that player wants to ask something and someone wants to reply but can’t because he’s speaking another language.
And because of the stigma againsta BRs, that’s gonna get flamed just because it’s not in English. You can’t blame on anyone other than the said BR trolls.
Explaining about that analogy, I’d recommend he should leave because I don’t know about you, but to me that person lacks courtesy towards other guests and (again I don’t know about you)is just plain rude. It’s like you’re intentionally segregating yourself from others and don’t wanna make friends or anything. So save your time and trouble (incluuding others)and just leave.
In other words, segregate from other races : NO
Segregate from bad eggs : YES

First, the errors of someone else can’t justify your own. Flamers can’t justify their flame because someday a brazilian trolled them.
But that aside, the problem about none understanding the one that is talking in another language. Well, if the one can’t get feedback, an answer, he probably will just shut up or try another way of communication available. But in the brazilian case, we have a lot of speakers in the game. What makes that someone could be able to reply. And that is the problem of the analogy, you are presuming one person alone talking idle. That’s not about it, we have a lot of portuguese speakers in the game in the real case.
Yet I have to agree that some people can be non-sense and just spit bullshit randomly, but this is a little hard to control, don’t you agree? Because, people talking non-sense out of context is strange and rude even if the person speak the same language than others…

That doesn’t change the fact that they are calling themselves as the whole continent.

I mean, it’s not that big of a deal, but it’s like if you were chatting with someone that has some important typos on his texts really often; after some time you have to tell him that that’s wrong.

They should call themselves USA, and other countries should too, i mean, America is the whole continent, and i know that everyone knows that, but with time it gets really painful. As much as reading important spelling mistakes.

People say “Americans this” “Americans that”, and i know they are referring to USA people, but damn it pains me to read them write “America” when referring to a country inside of the American Continent.

But if he is trolling on English, at least we know he is trolling. But even for a legit message in BR will simply get flamed. Like it or not it will happen because people don’t know wth he is talking about.
So we just follow the majority? Just because BR is the majority of the game then we have to speak it too? Then do tell me why people in the world isn’t practicing Mandarin since the Chinese are the majority of the people in the world then? Majority of the players of this game speaks English, so why change that? I’m from SEA and do I speak my own language? Hell no. And I don’t force anyone to accept my language.
Well whatever it is, I’ve said my mind

P.S : this game’s community is already doomed even in beta just because of a few bad eggs that can’t accept this is an international game.

Ok. We’re getting there… First, like others said, maybe it’s easy to pretend to be br just spamming something in portuguese that anyone can google. But that problem is hard to tell.
The real problem that you pointed out, that are actually two, is: spam and flamming. For god sake, the shout was terrible these days. For me worst then spam was the unceasing flame war. Spam and Flaming can make an internet community cumble down easy, especially flaming. They are really serious problems that should be dealt according.
I play on Zemyna too, I feel your pain.
But about Rome, like I said before it’s very easy to find portuguese speakers in game and is cultural of brazilians to stick together (not everybody, but many of us). So this is really hard to control and in my opinion shouldn’t, you should suggest and recommend like IMC did, but not control. And about etiquette it’s like you can only expect that people are gonna follow and that is it, while they don’t violate the rules, they are not “invited to ■■■■ off”. And this is not a rule, you can’t make a rule of this.
Here in my house there is a rule to do not rest your legs on top of the dinner and in other houses there’s is that rule too, you can just say “Get off my property!”
