By advancing different classes, it will make building character more optional and personal.
Furthermore, it’s nice to create many kinds of combo when combining different classes’ skills.
However, there is a limit if you advance too many different classes.
That limit is level cap of skills. They are low if you don’t go pure on a specific class to gain higher level cap skills of that class.
At present, many skills invested in early game soon be abandoned when the players reach higher classes. Why? Because there are too many skills while you cannot use all of them properly. Therefore, some lower class skills which is less efficient than higher class skills will be discarded from quick slots and never be used anymore. Though there are some good skills, they will still be discarded due to the low level cap which limits the skill’s potential to be used in the future.
Sometimes, you only need one or two specific skills of lower rank class to be used along with higher rank class skills in later game, and the rest is no matter when you want to create your own set of skills. Yes, indeed. I think the greatest purpose of advancing classes should be to create players’ own set of skills.
Thus, the game should increase the level cap of lower rank class skills every time players reach higher rank, but still remain skill points of previous classes.

Wizard’s Skill - 15 Skill Points : Energy Bolt (0 / 5) - Lethargy (0 / 5) - Sleep (0 / 5)
Rank 1 - Circle 1 - Class Wizard

Wizard’s Skill - 15 Skill Points : Energy Bolt (0 / 10) - Lethargy (0 / 10) - Sleep (0 / 10)

Like above, lower rank skills are strengthened.
Players can shorten the list of their skills by put all skill points to a specific skill that they may use in later game and let unnecessary skills else emty.
By that way, you have a strong (high lv) lower rank skill as a good option to combine with higher rank skills to make your own satisfied combo (or set of skills).
Finally, I would like to say that I don’t want to waste any skill points or I can say it is just pointless to go such a long way with lower rank classes and then waste their skills in the future, some skills are very nice. Therefore, I think this idea may help.
