Skyliner and Cyclone nerfs make no sense to me anymore (250+ lvl)

When the game was not released yet a lot of us came here to theorycraft and to talk about the datamined changes. Most of us accepted them because we’ve yet to have hands on experience and on paper it made sense.

Now that I’ve played the game, I no longer see the changes that iTOS team made to these two abilities. I feel like the least powerful damage dealer in the game is the swordman after clerics and for them to nerf two good abilities like that really makes no sense anymore.

They haven’t even made any clear explanation as to why. Have they even played this game past the first 220 levels? Have they taken a step into ET or the later dungeons?

The kTOS is getting great patches right now. Most of them buffs to the swordmen classes like Cata and Barbarian to name a few. A big boost to slash damage in Cleave along with reduced cooldowns.

These are balance patches. If IMC on iTOS decide to not implement any of these I fear that they have no idea how this game functions and do not play our class at all. If the Barbarian buffs ARE implemented then it would make sense to revert the iTOS explicit changes to Cyclone and Skyliner.

Otherwise don’t implement any kTOS changes and whatever happens in kTOS should then never be brought over. They’ve started to alter the game balance so heavily over here versus the Korean versus that I feel like it’s a bad path to take. It’s a big deal to me personally and something that makes me want to stop playing entirely if I can’t even look forward to playing a game which hamstrings one class entirely and then gives no reasonings behind said changes.

The fact that kTOS has still NOT implemented the Skyliner and Cyclone nerfs says volumes that the Korean developers are closely listening to the community.

It also says volumes that IMC over here isn’t and is going on a powertrip to gimp an entire class just because they can and give no explanation as to why.

Just my 50 cents on the matter.

These few weeks in this game with almost no real patches int he horizon and their focus being on the bot problems I understand if it will take another month until we get to the good stuff, but please IMC at least listen to the playerbase who plays said classes on both sides. Most of the people posting on these forums do not yet know the horror of being a swordman in the late game and trust me, you don’t want to make it worse for them.

Like my friend jokingly said “let’s just make archers”

Swordsman are bad enough; we don’t need to be THAT bad though.

I agree it’s pretty unsettling to know this game is going in two different directions at once balance wise. We can only hope that the wise guys altering our version actually cobble together something that works.

I played solo for 200 hours to play in parties and with other people in the endgame.

But nobody wants me in a party. I even been refused to a guild because I was a swordsman and they wanted actual useful classes.

I try to solo grind some mobs but realize the amount I make / hour is about the same as a 2$/hour job…

I try to talk and socialize in town but half don’t even speak understandable English.

Life in ToS sure is depressing and hard.

Leveling slowly, exploring lots of places (love to explore). And I keep hearing this stuff. … once you hit level 200+ people will not want you anymore. Swordsman suks at DPS … Oh yeah, Vertical Slash one of the WORST skills in the game (respeced twice to test it out, piece of crap all around and doesn’t scale well at all like Cross Slash/Skyliner/Cyclone). Uh man … there’s so much I want to complain about right now, but if we’re REALLY on the front line we need to have some serious bunching power. It feels like Doppel’s 2nd circle is the real deal. I don’t know about Dragoon … but I might be wrong.

Anyways … who else is having trouble? Can you post videos?

Dragoon is fun because of cataphract, you run everywhere super fast, can doge all boss attacks simply by running away every time. Questing speed is also much faster.

Pelta swordsman / cosair support is fun because you can aggro the whole map and make mobs drop more silver.

But if you went swordsman damage route, you prob play in ignorance or is crying yourself to sleep at night.

Korean and imc devs are the same though

Not to mention Zornhau, Redel and Zucken being TERRIBLE.

What the ■■■■ were they thinking?

I wish they give us the 0 cd skyliner too ;(
so my HL can spam something

totaly agree, i stoped my 150 swordsman cus i have no idea what changes will come to iTOS so i decided to take a break. really hope they bring the barbarian slash dmg buff to the table… i could consider make a 2h sword guy again (but i’m really having fun with wizzard, and its clearly better than swordsman, after lvl 80+)

and cmon, archers have a 0 cd skill that aply slow and hit 2 targets in the FIRST CIRCLE and its RANGED and can be USED WHILE WALKING

wizzards have +50% FCKING MAGIC ATACK and clerics, heal, safety zone, PD.

the ONLY power of swordsman is dmg (there are no cool/suport skills), and they nerfed it, i really don’t understand. and i also believe that swordsman should have a passive that increase max BASE HP by a % so we can have more STR, or a passive that increase BASE str

buuuut if u go highlander3>hop2>dragoon u can still do big dmg and wreck bosses

and we are not even talking about pvp

Don’t forget that all the archer buffs increase by a percent.
While our only buff is a flat +80 dmg which does nothing when your dealing 5-15k dmg in the end game.

And the rank 7 skills scale by 25-50% of their STR (using a gun or cannon…)

The 2 weapons which more then anything should deal JUST base dmg.
Just because I have muscles, doesn’t mean that my pistol is going to hit you any harder

and id prefer an arrow instead of a heavy sword hit. but for IMC its like arrow will do more dmg o.o

Just like in real life.

I think that Melee weapons, and 2 handed Bows’s dmg should scale on a STR percentage rather then dealing flat dmg…
and Guns/ Cannons/ x-bows use the current formula…

Becuase it makes no since to me why Guns and Cannons scale on STR… bcuase like i said…

But if i have muscles then i can withstand bows with a heavy draw, and i can swing swords faster and harder

well u won’t pvp well, sorry for the bad news, but u will be good in PvE =)
right now, for pvp swordsman the best option is the meta sword3>catagoon
or something with at least corsair 1

this build is a boss killer not a pvp killer =/

I can’t understand why kTOS must be different from iTOS in this regard.

Strength would help you aim the heavy weapons like cannons and withstand the strong kick you’d get from firing them, making you better able to keep the weapon trained on a target for successive fire. Irl you don’t really wanna pack around a heavy caliber handgun like a desert eagle or something if you don’t have the strength to handle it.

It really just all depends on your suspension of disbelief and imagination with games like this.
