Say NO to 50% Squire - Alchemist - Pardoner Tax!

yes i am aware of the npc substitution
but if u dont sell well, u continue leaving it open?
and pardoner who sell well, closes their shop coz they sell well?
no… lol, in fact if u sell well, keep selling before more pardoners trying to get into the fun joins

and again, if ur aware of the npc substitution, why persist on going squire shops
its clear that population wise
squire > pardoner > alchemist

the best solution for this isnt to lower tax, but possibly buff the squire’s durability bonus and their maintainance buff (tho currently lv15 weapon maintainance is great, simply too pricy coz only few are supplying such service)

oh and btw even with 30% tax, with the amount of competition within squire market, ppl will start cutting price to compete
and still, for cafrisun, its cheaper to fix at npc than squire

well, the npc blacksmith is asking 12k to repair my gear, and squire(weapons) + blacksmith(cafrisun) is offering 5k, what should i do??

I say no to 50% tax rate for Squire, Alchemist and Pardoner shops!

There should be absolutely no tax whatsoever when dealing directly with other players. Only the market should be taxed, period.

-Every- single person in a crafting class should be charging more for their services as well. Why the hell are you all reducing your prices so much when there is absolutely no alternative for players needing specific things (mostly speaking with alchemist gem roasting here) Raise your prices and make some damn money instead of one-upping everyone into the ground

Again people are you not paying attention to the cost of repairing gear at high levels, the cost Op explains does not increase as much as the repair cost people will be willing to pay.

NPC repair for me level 217 with mainly white!! 170 gear is around 15-17k silver

As he pointed out the repair kit price is 80 silver and he need 1 per star, so 80 x6 =480 silver, 480x7(items)=3360 his total cost for repairing a ful set if i got this right.

If he sells repairs for 13k which more people if not all will pay at my level and higher. How much is his profit even with 50% tax?
6020-3360=2660 that net after buying supplies.

For afk way to make silver is not bad at all. The numbers will only increase in proportion to stars and quality.

If they remove or lower the tax, it will just push most people to just make a c1 squire, as it will be that profitable to do so. Is only a rank 5 class level 177 is a cake walk on this game.

What the point on squires, if everyone makes one?

I Say: NO to 50% Tax For

Squire

  • Alchemist

    • Pardoner

@staff_julie there are chances of IMC considering changes?

I think a tax is necessary to prevent afk money making classes from becoming rich over night, but the 50% tax rate is absolutely absurd. 30% is the highest that should even be considered.

The tax itself isn’t the main issue though. The worst part is that there is absolutely no way to know in game that there is a 50% tax when you open up a shop. There is no warning on the tooltip, there is no warning on the shop UI, and the history tab doesn’t show how much was made off of each transaction. I’ve spent the past week selling Gem Roasting for 4.5k, thinking I was making a 1.5k profit since the materials cost 3k, when in reality, I was only making 2.25k, LOSING 750 silver every roast. I can’t compete vs people who don’t know about the tax system and are selling gem roasting for anything under 6k.

That is because people are undercutting each other since they are forced into the same location.

I will start selling buffs completely profitfree soon for probably a week straight to teach an economics lesson to other pardoners.

The tax is ok, Squire’s repair shouldn’t be a skill that makes the Repair NPC obsolete.

If you use the repair skill outside town, you can offer a cheaper repair option than travelling to town and repair in some cases (specially if you consider the time saved).

Why not though? Squire is a class you choose, it should be better than just a random NPC

That is simply you until you actually have gear and then the squire says 15k and the NPC says 45k.

On SEA server some of the alchemist r bots i think , there names are “ddddddddddd”, “aaaaaaaaaa” and selling Gem Roasting for 6k , no way to earn money from gem roasting i think and i just became alchemist :frowning: .

this is stupid why tf are they gonna make a “merchant class” then punish players who pick it!!! tf thats stupid. i can understand a tax but half that is total crap i was about to class change into an alchemist cause im at rank six but this makes this class seem like nothing but a waste of space in this game. i dont think it cost them anything like it does squires so i cant over complain. but tf imc if you hate merchant class so dam much dont F’ING put them in the game!!! you just screw up left an right. restrict this, restrict that, oh btw dont forget to take half of everyone’s profit. 10% is fair anything higher and they are robbing you way to go imc ruin one of the only classes i like in the wizard branch.

the tax is ok

come back when you have a merchant class

and yes, anything a merchant class can do should be better than any NPC

They might if the repair shop is set outside a dungeon or something and they do not feel like going back into town

thx 4 the bump but don’t go off topic please <3

I think regardless of the issue whether a 50% tax is justified or good or healthy for the economy what should really be in the discussion is why the hell is this tax so hidden?
Not everyone crawls through the forum archives, or spends hours ~ dayz theory-crafting like I / we do. I don’t think people should be punished for that though and clearly a hidden mechanic like this is very punishing for a “noob”.
Who would consider a tax like this to be in place? I bet no one until he finds out it’s in fact there - for the simple reason that this mechanic is absolutely artifical unnatural and counter intuitive.

People just need to know about these things and why they actually exist.
Highlevels claiming that it may even out in lategame can’t be the solution. Nor does everyone live in the lategame. A game isn’t nor should it be its lategame - it should be its game from start to “finish”…
my c2 squire is really suffering from low revenue atm. I can farm in an hour or less what he makes in two days whith the shop open. I even create better revenue trading on the auction house even with all the restrictions in place o.O and I really have tried various places and pricings and each setup for several days.

right now I really wish I had gone c3 hoplite or c3 cata or doppel instead >_>

It would be nice if Pardoners would stop paying for customers to take their buffs.

You’re supposed to make money, not lose it. The constant undercutting has gotten so bad since f2p opening, in some locations in my server you can’t even make 1 silver per buff. That’s pretty freaking ridiculous.
