I agree on the tax rate. You would think this would be displayed in the skill info or something. These squire prices that are so ‘high’ for repairs, are just break even prices. For a squire to ‘break even’ just at repair costs with the 50% tax, is 160 silver per star + grade. This is probably 4x the npc price just to break even, not even making any silver on it. Thankfully I didn’t so much cheaper than any other squires, but now I’m wondering if this was worth the time at any rate to make a squire.
With more alchemists on the server, I see shops selling their gem roasts at 4000-6000 silver. It’s hard to PM them to tell them they’re losing money from this tax.
Fellow alchemists should tell the others they’re losing silver for every roast.
It seems no matter how many times others like me post this same answer, it gets ignored because it makes your claims invalid. The tax is more than justified far a afk way of making silver.
#At 220+ NPC repairs Cost around 25-30k silver.
Since the npc cost scales, couldn’t the tax scale too ?
The best idea is simple:
The higher level character is - the less tax he get.
230lvl - 50%
231lvl - 49%
etc
Spend 10 silvers and the game will take 5000? That’s odd… hope this glitch got fixed.
You have no idea of how economics actually work, do you? If the tax is removed, squires will see an increase in their income, which will in turn increase the amount of money they have to spend on other player’s goods; also: i) the prices of their services will naturally reduce (allowing them to sell to a broader public); ii) they will be able to set prices that truly reflect the market’s demand/supply (and thus set prices appropriate for their costumers); iii) more players will be inclined to create squires, fomenting competition (causing a decline in prices), facilitating capital accumulation of the general public and increasing supply on remote places.
Helping crafters increase their profits benefits EVERYONE, even those that refuse to participate in the market.

I honestly feel that the tax is to high and should be around 30 percent just like the market. Now at the same time let me explain a few things in a single post that have been listed but not all at once.
First All shops are taxed 50 %
Second for a squire to break dead even its 160 per unit
EX. 4 star white weapon would take 4 units to repair making that a 640 repair.
This gives the squire 320 in his pocket which is the same price as what he paid for mats.
Next as I saw recently posted As your gear scales the NPC gets very expensive so much so that at END game gear a reasonable priced Squire is actually cheaper than the NPC, Not only that, but they can if level 15 repair repair for 15-30 above normal repair which is almost 2x most weapons dura.
So as far as cost being over the top - look at things in this light.
-
Repair shops can save you time grinding no going back to town, and upto 1.5x time you can stay hunting before another repair.
-
If you do not want to pay the cost a squire is offering check other available shops and see if one of them is more to your liking.
-
Squires did take the time to level that class so if they are reasonable - 200-400 a unit. Depending on where they parked themselves. In dangerous grind zones they can still while their shop is set up so they may charge more. 200-250 is more or less what i see and what i run personally.

THIS IS FOR ALL SQUIRES - Please Stop trying to gouge each other so badly, you make it horrible for everyone else. I see squires charging 120 per unit. THIS IS A NET LOSS YOU LOSE MONEY. If you want to set upsafe in town to make a small amount over night Set at 180. This is a gain of 10 per unit. If you are setting up at Dungeons or unsafe maps Try 200 per unit. Really dangerous areas that are heavy grinding areas 250 per unit. Ultra low prices that Are a net loss and then ive seen some as bad as 600 per unit are just disgusting and cause no one to ever want to use a squire.
If we can all keep it relatively uniform it will make everyone’s life easier.
