Remove Pay to Win Options (Like resurrecting with icoins)

First off, WoW is not free to play after a point, and it started out and developed its success with subs. Never could stand the game though. LoL has a great model that is mostly skins or acquiring new characters faster, but they also have boost time stuff that gives a slight advantage. Main thing though, you do realize that icoins are obtained through achievements right? You can get hundreds of them, I have about 200 on my char right now and able to grab more, and I have used at least 100 already buying reset scrolls and res through my play time. Even if it is eventually a paid thing, it doesn’t give one person an advantage over the other, it simply keeps them from having to go back to the location and try again. Not to mention that there is a res skill so having a healer with you could take care of that as well.

PvP isn’t the only thing in an MMO. If something is worthless in PvE (or close to it), then its not a well designed skill, or in this case, vastly overshadowed by another feature, neither of which is a good thing.

Yes of course its great in PvP. You cant come back from death there, a loss is a loss.

in this beta where we’re being fed coins, sure res can be considered ‘useless’ - however, in the future? we have no say on that yet until it is a proposed item into the cash shop with an actual price. plz read my other posts

Keep in mind NXP is the korean version of iCoin.

So on iOBT/release shouldn’t have everyone running around with 500 instant revives, assuming they’re kept in at all.

I don’t see the i coin res as a issue but we don’t know if these achievement rewards will remain the same on release either

I know its not i play both PVE and PVP but as long as a skill has worth some where i see no issue from it where your post sounds like you only care if things are viable in PVE. And by that logic any skill with cc on it is crap because it doesn’t work well in PVE. You cant just view skills from one direction when this game plans to support PVP and PVE.

Im a programmer and yes I can agree to this. Better to remove than add things. Makes my life easier.

A skill should be useful in some situations in both modes. PVP only skills are silly, and so are PVE only skills. There are definitely uses for CC in PvE (just a shame they dont even do anything to bosses, and no I dont want perm stunned bosses, I just want the CC to at least do a weaker or different effect)

While no, I do not play PvP, I still know what is good in it and what isn’t, and just as I want everything viable in PvE, I also want everything viable in PvP. I allow obvious exceptions like say, ressurection, which obviously can never work in PvP no matter what, but most skills should still be useable in both modes.

This is the issue both modes require different things. You wan may want this but it is not a viable possibility. Its like wanting all classes perfectly balanced it will never happen. Getting classes close is the best you can do.

I’m well aware the term “Balanced MMO” is practically an oxymoron. It’s outright impossible.

Relative balance between most classes where you just have things like “Bad matchups” where X class is just bad against Y class, but overall both classes are still “Balanced” is what is a possibility and what they should aim for.

When a skill really just simply doesnt work in PvP, the easiest solution is splitting PvE and PvP skill info. A lot of games do this and make all skills useful in all modes: A single skill may just work vastly different in either mode.

Anyhow, this is a thread about the revive option in PvE, which makes Ressurection and to some extent revive not as useful as they should be, in PvE. I know its going to be real cash in live because that’s what iCoins are, but 1 iCoin is obviously too cheap. Relative to the cost of things in the cash shop, it should cost an amount people aren’t immediately going to spend if someone with Ressurection is around.

My only problem with resurrection skill would be that sometimes the body slides off when people die. If you try to aim where the body is or was… well. … sometimes /a lot of times/ it misses. The damn cool down for the damn skill is too damn long too. It can be a whole you game too, find the body, res wait for cast time, misses, wait for cool down, find body and try again.

What they should really be doing is fix the res skill first before trying to ever remove the icoin revive since so far icoins are being given freely.

But seriously, have you tried resurrect skill during a boss or dun run? We actually tried it and we’ll, we face palmed. The boss sometimes turns you around while your casting it, making you miss, he’ll it’s even worst when the body slides off. I gave up saying “just use an icoin because your body went mia.” Only reason I had resurrection in the first place was for the revive attribute.

Yes but that cop out doesn’t work here. They have stated their intent to implement a guild vs guild vs boss mode meaning pvp and pve will be together and not separate.

You think everyone will pay for icoin and spam icoin revive on release ? no way, only those who have too much money can spam those, and they are only about 1%~5% of the player base

You greatly underestimate the value of cosmetic items in games such as this. Ragnarok Online has literally been kept running from releasing good looking costume gear with decent stats in RNG boxes for the last three years.

Seperating PvE and PvP functionality isn’t a copout, what. It’s a perfectly valid way of dealing with certain balance issues in both modes.

Anyhow, guildVguildVboss can easily just use the PvE versions of skills, and obviously, things that are good in PvE are useful there AND things that are good in PvP are useful there. For a mode like that you dont even need to seperate

However, not seperating certain things for a pure player vs player situation is usually a terrible idea and a nightmare for balancing.

Example, skill X gives 5s invincibility : Great skill for PvE and certainly not that broken in GvGvE, as there will be so many things going on you could really just try and avoid the player as he activates it. In a pure PvP fight in an arena, especially 1 on 1? Broken as hell, which is what I want to avoid.

The thing is skill seperation isn’t even unprecedented in ToS itself. OoB’s auto attack specifically doesn’t work in PvP for a good reason. Granted I’d rather have them modify it than outright disable it from doing damage, but still.

Cosmetic stuff shouldn’t have stats ragnarok added stats to force people to buy them or be weaker. All the costumes that can get stats have to be obtained real money or from someone who purchased it via real money. THIS IS NOT WHAT WE WANT IN THIS GAME. ragnarok is a horrrrrrrible example to use for a cash shop, they have tons of things that shouldn’t be there like brokenly strong top tier equipment / costumes with stats/ safe refines all of those fall in pay to win category since they can’t be obtained normally

I have seen people with different headgear and i believe putting some cosmetics on shop is one the thing they should do to gain $ money lel. You can see that players really murdered hanamings for a black hair and craft to death for the white one. If they will put unique hairs and colors, people would really buy that. Putting lots of hair color and hairstyle is a must! HA!

Also, i don’t mind if they will put exp boost on cash shop. The developer needs to have an income.

When it comes to “Free revives” perhaps ToS should use a simillar system as Dragon Nest? For those that dont know, DN gives you 5 free revives everyday, this number doesnt go over 5, you can purchase more tokens aswell, but these dont go back up unless you buy more but i dont think ToS need that.

As someone who have soloed most of the time the revives have been invaluable, but i wouldnt mind seeing a daily limit to them.
