Quests ruined ToS

Im sure eventually a typical hub/hangout will develop for the high players looking for grind groups. It usually happens in games like this, but for now it is what it is.

wait wait wait… you want late game mobs to deal around 50k HP??
i don’t know if you’re serious or just trolling.
Make mobs give 50x exp.
gather mobs in one place, use your abilities, BAM level up.
whatisgrinding.
also, by level 200+, you should be in parties by now to survive some content or just clear through faster, aka socialization.
we also have guilds and its features and gvg.

if you can’t handle grinding for levels then this game isn’t for you

Quests are optional aside from being prereqs for equipment and access to locations in that game. Starkly different from our situation where level progression is locked behind quests(cards) and instances.

The community ruined TOS.

Just kidding…OR MAYBE???

“If I was IMC:
Make mobs give 50x exp.
Make mobs do 10x more damage.”

THANK GOD YOU ARENT IMC .
You need to play a super rated pirate server, thats my advice for you

I remember when i was first playing Lineage 2.

I could easily grind my way up to level 40 and somehow manage to do my class transfer without any help, but after that, grinding was kind of hard, monsters were really tough, i had to use tons of potions and expensive poop just to survive (i was an archer, running out of arrows was my favourite drama).

Then i found other people struggling like me.
He was dying and asking for help, because well, trash mobs were just powerful enough to kill users (and getting new gear according to your level was pretty damn expensive).
i know this situation might sound ridiculously unfair for some people, but that’s what forced that random -dying- user to ask for help, and i knew i wanted to get help next time i was in trouble, so i jumped in.

Longstoryshort.
I helped him, we grinded together and had a nice time, later he found a guild and invited me. I wasn’t sure about joining a guild, i was fine playing alone or in a group of two or three, i didn’t want to bother with teamspeak and such things. However, this guy insisted and i joined.

The very same day i joined, i was invited to a group of almost 20 users divided into different parties.
Those people joined together in order to grind trash mobs like if they were nothing. I received kind of less experience per monster, but more money, and the security that i wouldn’t die as easily as before.

(By the way, you had a nice chance to drop your hard earned equipment if you were to die by monsters, so yeah… Go figure if that game was more social than this one.)

I love ToS just because i can play it with a controller, i’m not a picky person, but i also love when a game is difficult enough to force me to socialize.
I won’t randomly annoy other people that is having fun, I’m not that kind of user, i just have my own fun and that’s why i love when the environment forces me to ask for help, (and know that i’m actually helping and not stealing monsters from others).

So far the only game that gave me a similar feeling is a MOBA, but making random calls on-the-go and giving/receiving a few “good job” between random people isn’t even close to the social interaction and feeling of camaraderie i had in an actually difficult MMORPG.

I agree with OP, but i don’t think this game is bad, it’s just pretty easy until the quests are gone.
Until then, people like me are skipping the storyline and completing tasks mindlessly until i’m free to do whatever i want. It’s not that i don’t enjoy a good story, but i would like to choose when i want the story.
That’s why i prefer to experience a soft lore with clues scattered around the world instead of hours of forced storyline.

Peace.

What OP meant, is that trash mobs should be more menacing and rewarding, he’s not talking about powerlevelling, he says that if monsters were stronger, it would be more fun to kill them.

If monsters are strong enough to force you to party up, then you’ll be meeting more people, creating bonds and friendship. Thus, improving your experience on the long run instead of questing mindlessly on your own.
The extra experience he talks about is just a silly reason to kill those empowered monsters that you shouldn’t be able to hunt alone.

In my opinion, it would be nice to have an alternative to questing. Having the choise to hunt empowered monsters for better rewards is a great idea in my opinion.

Imagine that you don’t like themeparks, you’ll be able to just kill monsters with higher experience, better drop rates, but also pretty damn strong (not just damage sponges). You won’t read a single word of story, just raw gameplay and group meetings.

I think that storyline is nice, but the core experience of an MMORPG is to socialize and cooperate with other people.
Story is more of a single player game experience in my opinion, and just a filler while in an MMORPG.

Imagine entering a dungeon with your party, then the cutscene appears. It’s your first time in the dungeon, while all the other people are just grinding it for the 30th time or so.

You’ll want to see the whole cutscene while all the other users already skipped it.
Either they’ll get bored waiting for you, leaving you behind, or you’ll have to skip it for them, either way it’s a bad experience for someone.

Story is nice, but my priority is always the group experience, i save my urge for story and character develpment for single player games or series.

They, actually, increased monster density in the high level places it was lowest at. Remember every place after Dina Bee Farm in CBT? There was, almost, nothing there.

I do agree that this game has close to 0 sociability, especially for newer players.

Kinda lazy to elaborate what had been posted for a hundred times. Will stop here.

You’re probably correct about that.

There’s evidence regarding respawn rates for those who are interested:

You are 100% right.
Right now the meta is all about mass CC and Nuke-em down.

Not enough mobs poses real threats, if they did then it would be more fun to grind also.

They want you to socialize yet there’s no raid and a party can only hold 5 players.

Really? Because I got to around level 90 without using a single card or any dungeons. That’s a really loose lock.

you guys gotta understand though, that TOS only had a few cool quests to do. People complaned on ktos a lot that there werent enough quests and thats how we ended up with this questdriven mess.

yeah i used cards from 43 to 46 from 80 to 86 and i think 113 to 115 or so…still got plenty left and past 16x.

What a waste of cards. How much grinding did you do?

Very little. I was just filling out the adventure journal. There was a little grinding I suppose, but that was for items for collections, not for levels.
