I will briefly list some popular build variations <<<

AoE dealer
.Wizard3 - elementalist3 - warlock3 still great AoE. Elementalist provides multi-hits and burst AoE.
Some players have discussed about giving up wizard3 quickcast to get pyro1 to get x1.15 damage boost on fire skills (meteor) with Staff weapon. Giving up wiz3 for pyro1: wiz2-pyro1-elementalist3-warlock3/thaum3. Ice option with rod x1.15 ice damage attribute: wiz2-cryo1-elementalist3-runecaster1 (rune of ice)-shadow2/sage2/enchanter2 for stronger Hail and freezing sphere. Fire option is more popular, and froster lord card exists for electrocute.
ā€¦Sage2 is viable AoE burst dealer now and fits into many builds (2 ranks instead of warlock 3 ranks). 1 free rank, usually filled with runecaster or sorcerer1. Example pyro2 - Psychokino 3 - (sorc1/runecaster1) - Sage2 or Elementalist3 - sorc1/runecaster1 - sage2. If you use sage for boss dealer (fast saalus), take surespell to use dimension compression full charge.

Hybrids
.Pyromancer and psychokino offer AoE damage with CC. Psychokino channeled skills are worse vs boss, and great during mobbing. Pyromancer best CC is fire pillar, which is on 10s duration with 30s cooldown, cast-and-forget CC.
ā€¦Pyro2 - thauma3- sorc1 - enchanter2 god of wizard buff build getting more popular, provides hybrid playstyle with best wizard support buffs for party, and sustained damage by summon and Lightning Hands. Uses few active-skills and requires a lot of materials to cast buffs. Bad performance if your //ping is bad for auto-attack Lightning Hands.
ā€¦All builds with sorc1/2 for sustained (AoE) dps use high weapon and high SPR.

Mob grouper
.psychokino2/3 for magnetic force
ā€¦Linker1/2/3
Can combo these ranks with (SPR) chrono3 for full support mob grouper with pre-made party/friends.

Low-target Burst
.Featherfoot1/2/3 usually combo with linker to solve low hitbox size problems. Very high burst damage on Kundela Slash.
ā€¦Shadowmancer1/2 strong vs ground-mobs. Can combo with psychokino2/3 heavy gravity to be strong vs flying too.

Farmer builds
.All builds with linker2/3-thauma2/3. Link2-thaum2-feather3, wiz3-link3-thaum3, wiz2-link3-thaum3-runecaster, link2-thaum3-shadow2/sage2/enchanter2. Each provides unique advantages- sage missile hole, feather levitate and HP drain, shadow clone, runecaster giant mode movespeed and H&def, wizard3 cheap damage attributes (and some reflect shield if you like it), enchanter2 buffs. Also seen wiz2 - link2 thaum2 chrono3 speed farmer. Wiz2 link2 thaum2 alchemist3 is viable too and the most unpopular farmer wizard build.
ā€¦Necro3 builds still OK at farming. Usually combo with sorc1/2 and linker 1/2, pyro1/2, or cryo1.

If you ask my personal opinion, I like sorcerer and thauma most of the wizard tree. I never liked cryomancer and chronomancer of wizard tree.

Cryo 1 combined with Ele3 looks quite good simply because of ice pike freezing chance being so high and having the +50% with electrocute on frozen targets. If it meant giving up a Rank 7 class, i would then pick shadowmancer or sage. Sage looks pretty strong with ultimate dimension doing full %MATK damage per hit.

Thanks. INT or SPR, mix is also fine on that build.

Jinho himself use high SPR (look at SP pool), and froster lord red card for freeze-> electrocute combo. Chapparition card is also fine for elementalist builds.

First Kino3Sage2 video looks like its Wiz3, not Pyro2.

@greyhiem hey man, I got a couple questions:

Runecaster rune of protection - in one of your recommended builds you say that surespell is needed for sage to do bossing damage, but doesnā€™t runecasterā€™s rune of protection do the same thing and also provide pain barrier?

Sage ground spells - Are sageā€™s damage spells ground only/do they miss flying enemies?

Hey sirius. To use rune of protection, you need surespell. It needs 2 seconds casting. If mobs swarm you, you will never be able to cast rune of protection.

All KTOS sage skills hit flying enemies.

Alright, thanks for the info! Good to know RC isnā€™t completely a requirement for my build ideas. Do you know if KTOS is running a lot of FF1>SM2?

Featherfoot1 -> shadowmancer2 is not a popular build. Usually feather3 or shadow2 without feather1 (elementalist3 sorc1/rune1 shadow2 example). Curse does increase shadow damage by x1.5 . Try to get a bokor party member or featherfoot party member for your shadowmancer2.

Itā€™s not popular? Alright, thatā€™s fine. Definitely thinking of trying Wiz2>Pyro2>Kino2>FF1>SM2 as my first build when we inevitably get another reset event, but why isnā€™t it popular?

Featherfoot curse is difficult to apply to multi-targets. Bone pointing hits 1 target and kurdaitcha is a slow skill. Feather1 + shadow2 is viable for bossing. If you will use it for dungeon boss or saalus boss, shadowmancer2 without feather1 will already defeat the casual bosses easily. Try your build during future reset event and see whether you like it.

A few questions.

Shadow Conjuration is back to 100% per tick right?
Spiritual Chain, does it increase final damage or magic attack?
Do you happen to know any videos of Sorcerers going into stage 6 or 7 challenge mode? Iā€™m questioning their survivability.
I know Sage has good single target damage thanks to Dimension Compression doing 14,256% per OH, but the high CD makes me question how good they are. Is Sage worth going for or should I stick with Shadowmancer?

So i was playing on ktest and my char always starts to 100% crit outta nowhere

Hey Kanna,

Yes Shadow Conjuration is nerfed (fixed) back to 100% magic damage per Tick.
About spiritual chain, I do not know. Did not test it after bug-fix patch.

Most wizards are unable to deal sufficiently or survive sufficiently at Challenge Mode stage 6 & 7. Mob def is too high. Even players with 10k+ magic attack cannot solo it. Summon cannot survive, blow up instantly at stage 6 & 7, similar to Summons at new Monarch worldbosses.

Challenge mode stage 6 + 7 Solo is easiest for Meta AA cleric build (Priest3-Chaplain-Krivis3-Inquisitor), because their elemental-special buff-attacks ignore mob def. Also flame attribute near wall is great.

Also quite doable for Quarrel-shooter & falconer based archer build because Pavise will tank for you, Quarrel3 + Falcon3 + Bullet1 solo stage 6

Sage2 is stronger at AoE, and strong at single target too (dimension compression). Sage2 bonus synergy with wizard Sleep attribute (x2 damage with Neutral and Soul type attacks), and wizard lethargy attribute (bonus damage with magic circles). All skills hit flying. Survival skill: missile hole.

Shadowmancer2 is stronger vs ground-type (shadow thorns low CD and 4 overheat). Weak vs most mobs due to Dark-Type attack. Synergy with Curse debuffs (featherfoot, bokor best friends). All skills hit flying, and shadowthorns & conjuration hit less vs flying. Psychokino heavy gravity helps vs flying. Survival skill: shadow hallucination clone.

Personally, I prefer sage2 (also on wiz2-link2-thaum3- farming build). Do not need psychokino heavy gravity to feel strong. I love taxi too.
