[No longer updated] Sapper Rogue PVP by WatchGintama

##This guide is no longer updated for Rank 8 and Sapper 3 buffs. I am currently playing a Battle Pardoner build and will revisit archers when they release a hidden one.

##Introduction
Sapper Rogue is the most overlooked class with the highest potential in the game. I’m one of the few sapper rogues in the game; maybe even the original sapper rogue since I’ve been playing it since kTOS release. I’m here to change that and get more people to play the class.

##Why play Sapper 2 Rogue 1?
The class benefits from having other Sapper Rogues around
With other Sapper Rogues in your party, you can re-capture traps and reuse them again. This gives you the potential to have the most burst in the game.

Stack broom trap > Capture > Wait for Cooldowns > Place Capture > Place more traps > 2nd Rogue uses capture > Repeat

Broom Trap is Strike and benefits from Lethargy 100% bonus attribute.


Capture will never be outdated
Think about the new rank 8 classes and all of their new skills. You’ll be able to capture and reuse them.

Sneak Hit is Crit Chance
Sneak Hit is a 70% chance to Crit. That means you can focus your stats on STR/CON and still be able to crit.

With the new kTOS Werewolf card effect, I predict to see more Rogues.

Werewolf Card : [Card Slot Equip] When attacking there’s a [★]% chance your attack will be judged as attacking from behind.

Detonate and Capture combo
In terms of PVP, you have a choice to clear the field of four traps (safety zones, frost clouds, hail) or reuse it for your own benefit. I like to call this “Ground Control.” It’s an amazing counter to Raise; one of the most strongest CC in the game.

##Cons of the class

3 minute CD on Capture
Capture has 3 minute cooldown. This means you’ll only use it once per round in Battle League.

Your only reliable killing skills are from Cannoneer
You rely too much on Cannon Blast to kill or finish off enemies.

Capture only works on enemy and ally spells
Unlike Reversi which works on neutral, you have to be in a party or pvping someone. It’s not a big deal but something to consider.

Compared to other popular builds

Archer 2 Ranger 2 Fletcher 3

Wugushi
Wugushis can’t play together nicely because their poisons will overwrite each others’. But Sapper Rogues are strongest when grouped together.

The PVP builds


My personal build for GVG and Battle League. But I recommend choosing one of the builds below over Archer 2 since I recommend a low DEX build.

  • Heavy shot spam on clerics in Battle League. Not so effective in GVG.
  • Longer Full Draw bind but useless with dispellers in open GVG.


Killer build with some ground control utility.

  • Barrage + Feint combo (doubles the hits of Barrage)
  • Steady aim for increased Cannon Blast and Barrage damage.


Full Utility build for GVG purposes.

  • Teardown to remove Dievdirby statues
  • Detonate and Capture combo for ground traps
  • Caltrops instead of Broom Trap for area denial

##Other Builds

Main Skills

Detonate
Great 1 pointer that lets you clear four traps on the field. Very useful to counter Safety Zone and Raise.

Capture
Another great 1 pointer that lets you reuse unlimited traps within range.

The difference between Capture and Reversi/Detonate is that capture lets you reposition traps rather than flipping or clearing it in the same spot.

Broom Trap
Broom Trap is a great skill for grinding and for having something to capture on hand. In terms of PVP, it has a big AOE area denial use.

Why end with Cannoneer?

Sapper Rogue lacks burst outside of stacked capture. Cannon Blast is just enough to give you the missing burst every 25s. It is a strong AOE nuke.

##Tips for grinding as a Sapper Rogue

  • Place two stake stokades side by side and walk monsters into them. Optionally you can put broom trap or flare shot inbetween for more DPS.

  • Pick up Broom Trap when the cooldown timer hits 26s.

Battle Manual Tips and Tricks

These tips will be shown through video as soon as I record them.

##Swordsman

vs Guarding Rodeleros, Peltastas and Highlander
Use a Claymore to push them down. This will make them vulnerable for a second and then finish them off with Cannon Blast.

vs Cataphract C3 with Rush
Get into barrel right away. A level 5 barrel should block all hits of Rush and force cooldown. After that you can use Siege Burst to knock them in the air or claymore for a chance to hit them with Cannon Blast.

Pain Barrier
If a swordie has pain barrier on, stay in cloak or barrel until its off and try to pin them with Full Draw. Put a flare shot or broom trap on them or finish them off with Cannon Blast.

##Archers

vs Scouts
Stay hidden while they’re hidden. Don’t put any traps on the ground because damaging them will reveal you first. Cannon Blast asap.

Wizards

vs Elementalists
These are your favorite enemies because you can use capture to its best ability. Pin them down with Full Draw. Capture their frost cloud and put it back on them.

vs Psychokinos
Keep your distance or stay hidden until Raise is used. You don’t want to get caught in Raise. Always capture Raise to use for yourself. Detonate if Capture is on cooldown.

This is my build

I prefer to max stockades than collarbomb since collarbomb seems unreliable sometimes

saving my rank 7 decision till rank 8 comes… i don’t want to get locked in cannon or musket weapons until i see the rank 8 classes or musket 2 and cannon 2

True about collar bomb. I’ve never actually managed to use it in PVP or its never on my mind.

i am a ar1 , qs 1 , sapper 3, rogue 1 going for rogue 2

so far the most fun i have had was in demon prison where i would drop 2 shields which would taunt the extra mobs that weren’t chasing me allready (there seems to be an aggro limit?) to lure everything else in the broom

it feels super cost efficient too because every atribute point u put into broom damage is basically given back to you double with capture

i am praying the datamined turret files they found are either used in rank 9
or are on the hidden class or a new class and not on cannoneer 2 because that would make me very sad

im trying to get rogue 3 for the 17 second smoke bomb so i can ‘‘drink lemonade in my broom trap’’ as i always say but if turrets show up

and if cannoneer 2 gets the turrets well then i am screwed over because i took rogue 2 at rank 7 instead of cannon 1

Really nice thread you have here. Am in progress of leveling a sapper/rogue. Currently is at level 134 with the progression A1>Ranger1>Sapper2>Rogue1. Am loving the build a lot, very in your face kind of archer which I like more than a standard ranged build.

This is why i saved my rank 7 decisions until the release of rank 8 and circle2 of cannon and musket lol

The only thing i don’t like about this thread is that more and more people are going for this build and i don’t like this being meta lol

Same for when i made a wugushi, I always try to prevent other people from playing it because group content with more than 2 wugushi’s sucks so bad.

but the diff between wugus all over is that wugus bug (or intended? not sure?)
doesnt make them work well at all with ea other

and rogue sappers partying with other rogue sappers is the best thing ever for capture broom stacking

wugushi also scales terrible into lategame, the whole circle design is going against the total archer design of CRIT, wugushi only scales with patk and str which makes it scale very bad. Even with FULL str an level 280 your poison will hit for about 4k, this is worse than any wizrad spell and nothing when you compared it to boom trap or retreat shot which can crit for 26k+ with wizard support.

They have to make wugushi scale with CRIT attack or rate also in order to make it any decent in the long run.

That’s a good point about wugushi. You can’t have other wugushi’s around you due to overwriting. But Sapper Rogues are stronger when grouped together.

Wugushi could work with Sapper Rogue too. Sapper 2 Wugushi 2 Rogue would be really nice just to reuse Gu Pot/Broom Trap and Sapper-Wugu synergies.

A2 — Sapper 2 — Rouge — Scout — Musk (PVP purpose and sometime PVE)

is it okay to take 1 rank Rogue only for the Capture skill (3minute CD)

i will loose +5 Stockade, +5 claymore, and +5 Broom only to get 3minute dobel CD??? while at PVP u can use 1 time only
