It feels like you didn’t even read the post though. You just read RO and started replying.
Did I read right? Someone making a comparison between a Single Player Action RPG with a MMORPG? I must be going nuts.
Interesting how people act like ToS is perfect the way it is. It has potential to be a great game, but currently, looking at this beta, not, it is not. Not because of bugs, not because artwork, but gamplay wise. Please, for your own dignity, don’t compare a Single Player Game with a MMO. It’s like comparing CoD with Dota. They are different genres. This game has the fame it has, because it was titled “The Spiritual Sucessor of Ragnarok Online”. At least 70% of the game base is here expecting something like Ragnarok Online was. To have the same fresh experience they had 14 years ago. A lot of those people quitted RO ages ago, because Gravity killed the game with Cash Shop and 3rd Classes. My most precious memories I made with a couple of friends in a Private OT RO server. Nothing I ever done has compared to the feeling when me and those friends went to this server, and we overthrowed the ruling guild in there. The time we spent farming for items and levels to become the best in a 500 person private server. But unfortunately, the server got shut down a few months later.
RO was able to make players create bonds with each other, in which every single one could add, be it to the party, to the guild, or even soloing in a dungeon. How many times I got healed by a Priest, or got invited to a party. In every single WoW-themed MMO out there, we don’t have this. People only gather to do dungeons, because it became pretty hard to enter in a dungeon and complete it due artificial dificulty, by raising the mobs HP and Damage so much, that hardly a person in the same level can solo with standard quality equipment.
If you want to play a Linear RPG, which I won’t call it an MMO because, for me, it’s the same as playing the HACK series, go play WoW, Tera, or any other of the modern RPGs in the market.
Gsus, even Tibia has more freedom then ToS.
Money sinks shouldn’t be “optional” of you want to control inflaction. You literally have to force people to burn their money or there will be that 99/70 god gear Kina with 450m zeny that has nothing else to spend and his money only keeps growing (while he pumps it into the economy)
Here you can buy spells attributes. This games gear has gigantic windows (15, 40, 75, 120 etc). There’s also repair, socketing, 10% market fee, all of this helps to slow down inflaction.
Also lotteries are fun, you should give this as a sugestion.
What I seriously disagree in this post is the question of quests. In my view, to please both publics could simply raise the group’s capabilities in some way and increase the rate of exp that monsters give in a way that can match those experience points from quests.
Really. I enjoy doing quests, I like to read what the story is saying, I like role-playing with my friends. The fact that the story is good or bad is not the issue here (I think is good). The point is that it is a social game and to please everyone is not easy.
So, IMC, please. Let the quests as they are, there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. If the current problem is that they are not pleasing to everyone, just add forms for those who do not care about they can do their thing.
A good game does not subtract, a good game adds more options!
I did, there are a ton of ways to make moneysinks that are fun. If you add RNG, you make it so people want to try it, because gambling is fun/addicting. You dont need to force them to.
Also, i dont mind Durability as a moneysink, i dont like it as a way to control how long you can grind, in a grinding game. It should be your choice, that’s why weight/Hp worked so well, you could keep going, sit down, or marely choose to give up drop for stayin there. Or going back to sell and spend time going back. They should focus more on durability as a mechanic though, and have more gear have more or less durability according to their rarity and also, making stronger items with less durability, as an example: http://www.tosbase.com/database/items/532119/
A very good feedback! I absolutely agree with you! This was what many people was afraid of back then when they announce that there will be quests base. =O
Wow didn’t think so many people would read my wall of text. Thank you all for reading, those who agreed with me and those who didn’t. Discussing is always good.
Someone said ( sorry lazy to scroll up) that the low level journey doesn’t matter as long as the end game is good. Well I don’t like PVP or min maxing stuff but I can see your point. And I do think IMC can please both of us as improving the journey to the end game won’t impact it.
Not everything is lost and fixing some bits can greatly improve the game. It has some potential. But lack of creativity, lack of vision, timid features makes it a terrible game.
IMC come on. It’s a closed beta. Test your game. Flip the whole world upside down because one player pressed a button in the end game dungeon. Release hordes of monsters to kill people mobbing too much.
Let us craft pants making us poo rainbows. Create puzzle that will make us cry waterfalls. Make every map an unique experience. Even the experience that will make us curse you until the end of time.
thousands of people are still willing to play your game even if we must watch youtube videos to log into the game, cope with a non working friend function or the aunction house/ shout chat having opening hours like wall street.
If you re not trying the most crazy features you have in mind during this beta, then when? During the open beta? When your game will be dying and flagged as a generic mmo?
People are giving you their trust but if you keep letting them down at some point it will be too late and you won’t get a second chance
Awesome feedback there! I couldnt agree more!
IMC already knows the game is linear, so what’s the point arguing, complaining and whining non-stop?
If you don’t like a game, so, don’t play it. You didn’t spent a penny on ToS, so why bother complaining non-stop about the same things?
We should be focusing on bugs, trying to find why bugs are happening, and feedback about the conditions of the game.
But no, some website discovered that ToS main director was the same as Ragnarok, and all of sudden, it became a sucessor of Ragnarok, that ToS is what Ragnarok 2 should have been, bla bla bla.
ToS is NOT perfect and I have some complaints too, however I find whining (or should i say bitching) about stuff the game is not designed to do is a complete waste of time. Like, its the same as complaining why LoL doesn’t have creep deny if LoL is based on dota. There is no use complaining about that, the games are different and if you don’t like, go play whatever the game you liked.
My concerns are at class balance, something that is really hard to achieve when a game with so many classes are launched, so I expect to class become more balanced as the time progresses. And another is the lack of multiple channels for high level maps. Other than that, ToS is fun, I play with friends and with partys of random people, something I would expect for a F2P game, nothing less, nothing more.
This guy is saying we bitch so he doesnt like us.He also says we shouldn’t be bitching and give “feedback about the conditions of the game.”.
You like this game? fine. I dont’ and I tell them why and I am not the only one. Why does it make you mad?
If my points are wrong feel free to tell me but right now your posts are void of any substance
You kinda do, yes, if it’s so easy to make money like this game. Or it isn’t really a money sink.
This I agree.
To be fair he is kinda right, even more since korea’s closed beta is ahead of us.
And he’s just doing a negative feedback of your negative feedback, what’s the problem?
If you don’t like the game, you’re free to pin-point whatever you didn’t liked.
However there is a huge difference between not enjoying the game as a whole, or because it’s not what Ragnarok was. I find it pretty irrelevant, since ToS will never be what Ragnarok is/was, deal with it. If you keep complaining, it’s just a waste of time.
One thing is: I don’t like the way the game is linear, since there are many high level maps that nobody will be there for a long time. Those maps could be used as a secondary maps for lower levels, increasing the diversity of the game.
Other thing, pure bitching is: I don’t like the game, because it’s linear, and RO wasn’t. Right off the bat RO have plenty of maps to choose, its a open world experience and ToS should be like that.
There is a huge difference between feedback and bitching.
As far as I’m concerned. No on in here is neither whining, nor bitching, and you should restrain your lack of education to yourself. Another note is that, GENERAL FEEDBACK. We can discuss basically everything that worries the players in here about the game. Be it’s story, it’s bugs, it’s gameplay.
You are so short minded, that reminds me of this little comic below.

My last point in this discussion is: This is not a "My Opnion is Better then yours so stfu and leave.
’ If our word is making you frustrated, welp, there is nothing we can do. If the final version rolls out like this, I’ll gladly never come close to neither the game, nor it’s community, as I have a lot of more interesting things to do then to opt out in a finished product which I’ll not make use of it.
Whales need people to show off their stuff to and easy players to kill due to lack of skill. If those leave, then usually the whales follow.
My main point is, you fix how easy it is to make money, currently selling “materials” makes close to no profit, and monsters drop silver, for some reason. If you had relevant gear drops, people would make close to no money, because they would be valuable and be sold to players, which does not generate money. Currently gear drops way to often, and later in the game gives way too much money when sold to vendors.
You could even go into full Economy mode and creat a system that makes the prices you sell gear to NPCs dynamic, depending on how much they have bought in the last X time.
And my point about not forcing people is, the same as FTP games. The idea is that they want to spend money. I have spent alot on LoL for skins, around $100 every year, and i was happy about doing so.
There are plenty of money sinks in this game in the form of attribute and refining rates. God bless, I’ve spend way over a million to get Double Punch Enhance attribute to level 50, there are 50 more levels to go with increasing prices and that’s one skill alone, the next circle is probably even more expensive.
Yeah man we gonna talk and bitch just the things you want we talk and bitch, if you are enjoying the game perfect, many people dont. What is the problem with the people who wants Ragnarok2? I think that would be awesome and weirdly new in this world where lineal reigns, of course you lineal guys are happy, but some people want more than that, you are trying to push away people for their opinion and you are providing nothing, so if you gonna keep going that way, why dont you just stop replying here and let us bitch freely like TOS should be and not a lineal prision.
Just remeber that this game is supposed to have 600 levels, not only 99.
While making money right now is quitr easy, and could have some nerfs, later on you will also need more money.
I think the problem is that the game rewards AoE killing more than single target killing because of how exp works, how monsters are and such. In other games you can go kill single target “stronger” monsters 1 by 1 and get a similar rate of experience, but here it doesn’t. I do believe the point here is that there are things that should be fixed prior to class balancing, or you are gonna end up like LoL were every change they do, makes it so that 25% of the champions has to be remade/retuned for balance.
You re starting to discuss a bit more. Too bad I have to fight you to discuss. Maybe you should lower your tone.
Sorry I just pin pointed like 10 points of why this game is a disaster. You didn’t read them obviously which makes you look stupid really.
I am juding this game as a standalone. And sorry it’s crap Ro successor or not.
If devs want this game to be linear so be it. Sadly as a linear game this game is doing extremly bad. Playing NES Zelda is a more interesting option. And I stated why.
This game brings nothing to the genre and is extremely unoriginal and generic and not worth the time in this current state. I can feel that my harsh words sounds like “you like a crap game” but my opinion is only aimed at IMC and not at you, Don’t take it personally
