And again not a single argument why there shouldn’t be any EU servers. That only shows that you’re just here for trolling in a topic that’s not for your concern.
Good day, Sir.
25% of how many players? We don’t have any total numbers. Nobody knows if it is feasible to setup an european server just based on relations the have seen.
@Seiryuu yeah mixed community with different clients but I can’t remember, that they ever had somekind of different public channels for the different languages. It would be nice to just read the english and german channel when you don’t understand a single word of any other language. xD
Is this a typo?
30 GBP seems very cheap compared to 46€.
Dead server with 25% of community. It’s real.
It’s how it is. It should have been around 37~38 pound, but its 29,99. Thats the randomness of steam~
So well… Better get some friends in the uk?
No European servers? it’s a joke? No founder pack for me and many others. STOP NEGLECTING THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY OMG.
You are really bad, no European server = no players = no purchase founder pack / no cash shop = no money coming.
The European community is tired of being taken for idiots.
THANK YOU
Please, don’t clump us all into this same caste. There are few childish persons who seems to like complaining a lot but I’m sure they don’t present the majority of European players. If you start noting who makes these hostile senseless whiny and demanding posts, it comes down to around 3-5 people.
I feel kind of ashamed that one of these “quality posters” happens to be from the same country as I am. He sure likes to talk and especially complain before he thinks. I’m sure most Finns, and Europeans in general, you run into in this game are more mature than that
I build servers for a living as part of the company I run… They really aren’t very costly to maintain. If we are to compare dedicated game servers to something like streaming servers from Netflix, the former is far cheaper to maintain even with hundreds of thousands of users. In fact most people can set up their own servers that can easily handle even one thousand players.
I actually hosted a Minecraft Server on a Raspberry Pi that could handle having over 100 people in it. It was part of an assignment I was doing for school. Heck you can even run QuakeWorld on a Raspi.
So right back at you. Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. So save it.
That’s very funny, claiming you suddenly run a company right after my statement. No, maintenance costs aren’t as high as many would guess. Though I guess because it’s a company you run I doubt it offers all the high quality services that large contenders do unlike you. They make use of Amazon servers and their services. I wouldn’t know a thing about how much it would cost, but considering it’s not going to be a server that only runs 4 gb ram and a simple dual core CPU I doubt it’s going to be a cheap one. But considering the fact that you indirectly claim to know a whole bunch about system & network engineering by just having done a project with a raspberry Pi, it wouldn’t impress a tad bit. Those kind of projects are the kind the first years do at my university. I will apologize beforehand but I do not believe you know anything about the quality servers required for running an MMORPG that has to have a very high uptime reliability.
And still it doesn’t empower my argument any less: The more servers IMC has to pay for within the EA, the less likely it is that the EU region will actually stay up considering the low amount of players during early access vs F2P release in april 28th. Be patient.
EDIT: Seems IMC is broke ATM, your suggestion wouldn’t have been taken to heart regardless. An investment is needed, or more interest from players. IMC is letting us know that they will give us regional servers, but not if they don’t hit the required quota. The quota=people=money=funds for more servers. Let them sort that ■■■■ out, like I said before, employees are way more important than a few servers. THe customers who really want to play the game CAN and WILL play the game. Ping is not going to bother my amusement that’s for sure, but that’s me. People should respect others who do actually run a company. A company is made out of it’s employees, not it’s customers. If it’s employees can stay employed, they can and will help us customers.
Funding what ? We’re merely asking about relocating. You know, something like 4=3+1.
Did you ever saw an ad about “the cloud” ? Creating/growing a server is as easy as pushing a button.
The 25% thing is way enough to justify that. Not that imc seems to care though…
@Awwdorable
I think I answered you with my reply to Seiryuu…
You can look at Cursewords’s latest post too…
Lol. Stop with that.
Did they give you their financial results ?
Maybe they should rather start bankruptcy procedure rather than opening iTOS… Cause u know, they’re broke
Yep, and I’ll send you 5 BTC when I’ll hit “the quota”.
I do run a company, granted I don’t run it by myself and it’s not a big one but it’s still a company. Want my VAT Number?
As a matter of fact we actually use Amazon Cloud Services ourselves and it’s not our ‘job’ at all to ‘offer’ said services like you’re presuming. Rather than to argue with you about the topic I’m just going to ignore the rest of your wall of text and reiterate that it’s not so expensive to run gaming servers.
By the way, good luck on opening your own company straight out of Uni, if you ever go to Uni.
OT: In the end it seems that IMC has decided we won’t get an EU server because reasons.
Actually I find your story hard to believe too. Could you provide that VAT number, it would be rather easy for me to check whether it’s true?
Broke =/= Bankrupt. The funds ain’t there one would assume to have an extra regional server or replace one of the NA servers which then in turn would increase the load on the existing servers and cause lag for people and/or make the servers inaccessible. Further more, it’s just something I’ve read in this thread. Who are you to claim they aren’t actually broke? Regardless it is better for them to play it safe and they have an option open for the people who are going to play but want to be moved later on to an EU server. Also where the hell do you guys get 25% from? Stop with that stuff ;). Russia is not counted with the EU countries when it comes to MMORPGs. Also it clearly says 11% for western europe vs the 30% from NA in the sales chart. I guess people like you (and me) should just wait it out. Patience is virtue.
You’re suggesting something ridiculously halfassed, not considering a ton of things you don’t know a thing about. Again.
If you want to localize, you need to do it properly, professionally, to get the max profit out of it. If relocating was so easy, they would just do it.
Right now both of you are calling the whole executive committee stupid and too dumb to lead a company, just because things aren’t going the way you want it, totally neglecting important factors nobody here knows about.
@Phntm You read that here:
The first time the staff actually admitted they are in need of money and can’t risk any investments for now.
The 25% are all the player who would play on an european server. I’ve never heard about a single russian player who is happy with their publishers! They would rather play on an european server than a russian one. BTW most russian players are also living in europe and not asia. There is only one reason why they are not counted with EU countries when it comes to mmorpgs: they are forced to play on russian servers.
But you are right: patience is virtue. Nothing is decided yet and the ability to transfer is all we need for the future.
I didn’t know it was based on the numbers of probable players. But that’s merely an expectation and something I’ve been referring to as a quota.
@Seiryuu
Ahh, I knew I read it right, glad I wasn’t wrong. But the people in this thread have shown over and over that they do not properly understand what it means to be low on funds or in street terms “broke”. Also reading seems to be quite a challenge.
Yep, like how they localized iTOS. https://github.com/Treeofsavior/EnglishTranslation/graphs/contributors
I love you, you’re so funny
Stupid ? Not necessarily. They probably concluded that the majority of Eurasian and SEA players would buy the ~wind~ they’re selling and be happy enough to continue playing (and cash-in, that’s the most important). Players like you, for reference.
Or maybe they don’t want to invest anymore in this and milk the hyped players with what they have now.
Anyway, I have found them very crafty so far. Hats off.
Too dumb to lead ? Certainly not, they wouldn’t lead otherwise.
wow such rage okay you claim no players will play… I’m from England and my ping is okay looks like you should change that to 1 player because mate you don’t speak for me and your words mean nothing due to they are negative and pointless claiming that there attacking the intelligence of the European community you know your showing the world with your mind-set the intelligence of people within the European as idiots… good job…
It’s an expactation, but those players are also used to play on european servers or would rather play on an european server than a russian one. E.g. in GW2 the community is split into NA, EU and China (just because of censoring). It works just fine and that’s what most of the players are used to.
I agree with you, but this is just one fact I have to point out.
OCEANIA is further away from the server idk what you’re talking about
