Current Evasion viability?

… with low-to-mid dex numbers?

Example: Archer 3 with Swift Step 15 (+150 evasion), ~330, wearing full set of leather, with ~80-90 DEX investment (rest STR/CON). Generally equipped for crit rate and maybe some limited evasion bonuses as well.

Will such setup work at all when evading bosses; high level mobs in ET/Solmiki, etc; physical classes in PvP?

Basically, given Swift Step 15 and some good crit rate/evasion equips, is it worth investing into DEX at all for all around viability of your Archer?

For going evasion, dex is useless. You still get hit a lot more than you expect.

Are you talking about goind high dex or any dex? Thx.

Basically, I don’t need to evade everything, but I would appreciate if I get hit at least 50% of the time on high level PvE, and maybe 70-80% times in PvP. Can I go some low amount of dex given high bonus from SS15 and etc?

even full dex gets hit a lot after swift step lv15.

Means it cannot go below 0, cannot have (negative number)^0.65. If the result of (evasion-accuracy) is 0, the attack will already always hit.

Random numbers chosen:
For example your evasion stat (F1 status window) = 100.
Enemy accuracy = 10.
(100-10)^0.65, or 90^0.65
= you have 18.63% chance to dodge the physical attack. Note: magic attacks cannot miss.

Evasion >>> accuracy, very high evasion vs accuracy. ( a lot of dodges)
Evasion > accuracy, higher evasion than accuracy. (some dodges)
Evasion = accuracy, equal. (no dodges)

Full DEX A3 QS3 Rogue Hacka here (yeah, it’s a sh*t build hahaha). Evasion is alright, but blocking is still miles better in terms of gear and stat investment.

I just consider Evasion a bonus for going full DEX since my real purpose for it is CritAtk due to Sneak Hit + WW. I’m able to evade dungeon and mission bosses fine (around 60-70% chance to evade), but haven’t really tested it against WBs and endgame dungeons (ET/Solmiki), nor have I tried PVP with it.

The block pen you’re getting though should still come handy in PVP.

i still not quite sure about this. i create 2 rogue for this. rogueA is rogue2 with 100 str rest dex and lv7 yellow gems.
rogueB is rogue1 with 100dex rest str and lv7 red gems.
I feel rogueB has better DPS

I use Kneeling with Running Shot (yeah, with a Hacka circle ) so that might have been what sold full DEX for me. Also, do you use 3 x lv.10 WW card too? That might have made the difference between the two.

Well for crit atk related discussions

Hmmm those seem like outdated values. Anyways, I will try and record something later for visual proof, whether I’m right or wrong about cAtk.

both of them use the same weapon, the same card (used to have 8 werewolf, when i heard it will be limited to 3, i shared it to the 2nd rogue) and feint+barrage for testing. the only difference are red/yellow gem and str/dex distribution

Evasion isn’t useless, as long as you can’t use a shield because of bow or pistol/cannon, evasion is a good way to decrease the total overall damage you recieve from physical attacks.
Another thing to note is that evasion not only negates all damage but also the negative side-effects like knockdown on successful dodge.

You can also boost the worth of your evasion by reducing the enemies accuracy, e.g. by placing Aukuras near it or using Hunters Pointing.
You must also not forget that you already get to a decent evasion rate with equipment (10-30% chance not to take any damage is a lot better than 0%) and skills. With the upcoming patches, it will become even easier to evade attacks, because of the new 350 equipments that can feature DEX/evasion as bonus stats regardless of armor type.

It’s just my guess but I think that with a well-geared Archer and/or a well-assembled party, you will be able to hit over 50% dodge rate.

About current viability within ET:
With Swift Step 12 (gem+Divine Might) and some base DEX (i.e. your base value + some equip boni through e.g. Max Petamion) you will be able to reach about 210 evasion (without Monstrance or any other non-related evasion boost).
The highest accuracy of a monster in ET is 192, so you’ll have at least 6,5% dodge rate without any further DEX investment.
However, there are only a few monsters with such high amounts of accuracy(32 of a total of 89 level 330 monsters with high accuracy), and most 330 monsters in ET have 141-170 accuracy, leaving you with at least 11% dodge rate.
If we include buffs like Monstrance and Aukuras, we can achieve at least 19% dodge rate even against the monsters with the highest accuracy in ET. That is before investing into DEX.

At 200 DEX, you’d reach 40% against the monsters with the highest accuracy in ET[with this setting including Aukuras and Monstrance + Swift Step level 12], which is a lot of damage reduction on top of your armor and defensive buffs.

Last but not least, judging from the Vikrus Boots showcased in the 360 cap preview, we can be quite sure that there will be a lot more equipment to boost your evasion even higher, so you can reach your desired 50-60% dodge rate with the right setting even without investing heavily into DEX.

Fencer has time gated dodging skills.
Peltasta gives you 150 evasion with guardian attribute.
Lunge 15 gives you 350 evasion for 4 seconds.
Esquive toucher 15 gives you a +150% boost on evasion for 4 seconds (in pvp, i dont know the pve duration) (30s cd).
To dodge 90% of attacks you need something like 2000 evasion.

Edit: read posts after this

You dodge 100% of all physical attacks with exactly 1194 more evasion than the enemy has accuracy.
For 90% you need exactly 1016 more evasion.

You SHOULD not be able to dodge 100% of all physical attacks. But yeah i’ve checked the formula again, i thought it was the same number as crit but it’s 0.65 instead. So yeah 1194.
