You shouldn't be reported for "z" sticking

“if the reporter is an influential individual, their report is most likely valid so we can set a priority on which account to ban first. This is where the Report Influence Index (RII) comes in. In terms of numbers, a player with 10 RII has the same impact as 10 different players with 1 RII each when reporting suspicious users.”

So thats why what i reported just now, they instantly vanished right away, interesting. I just ill roam the whole map now to further increase my RII. I hope there is a visible ranking for players who had valid reports. Forget the exp tome and title that i wanted, this is by far the best.

im saying that if you report everyone you find with Z key pressed, your RII will get screwd in the long run.
Use your best judgment.

How the hell are people going to differentiate an afk player mashing nothing, they look a lot like botters too you know. Best sit down afk or shut your game while you leave your pc. Better safe than sorry ye

I know man, but as far as i understand this OP, he’s like “Why the hell do you report Z-Afkers, they aren’t doing anything wrong, and they are not botting”

These guys want to leave their characters in a zone full of mobs for 2 hours while they Auto-Z and watch a movie and not get punished? where’s the logic in that LOL

Doesn’t matter, if your using automated attack and your not at the keyboard and your gaining exp and drops then thats considered botting. but if u were in town auto crafting while afk thats totally different

Someone was already banned for it: Got banned for holding Z

Go ahead and keep doing it. Roll the dice with your account.

I think this OP created this Post from that Post xDD, he/she was defending the OP from that post so… make your guess :stuck_out_tongue:

I think most people have the ‘wrong’ idea about z-afking. They think it’s some unfair way to play the game that’s equal to botting. Let’s say you were in one of your quest instances, and it spawned an infinite amount of monsters (none of them do), but you went z-afk. No players are near you, but you could just kill monsters. What will happen is that your gear will break over time, and if your fighting monsters that are within you exp range, they will most likely overrun and kill you once your gear breaks. You would at most have 1-2 hours of z-afk grinding before your character dies.

You can’t use skills, you can’t heal yourself, you can’t repair, you can’t do anything but attack. Z-afking is nowhere near the level of botting, because the game’s design prevents you from gaining any kind of real advantage by doing it. Monster’s will spawn in other area’s of the map away from you, and on the maps where the mobs do spawn in huge chunks (bee farm, demon prison), there are too many to deal with effectively. Honestly z-afking doesn’t matter, because by playing the game you will progress way further than someone who sits in an area and spams attack. Unless the monster died right next to you, and the drops landed right next to you, you wouldn’t even get the drop. The only thing you could gain is silver, which you could farm much easier by playing. The developers don’t want to write a program that detects every character that stood in one spot and spammed attack for an hour, and honestly I think it just makes the game toxic if people try to report every person that’s just attacking randomly standing still. ToS has enough problems trying to build a good healthy community, that people should only be concerned with actual bots, and not lazy players. Even if the bot companies come in and z-afk grind in various spots of the game, it wouldn’t matter, because a real player could easily take over the spot and kill the mobs before the z-afk bot.

Actual bots are easy to detect from the player’s point of view. They run in a zig-zag, you can drop an anvil/fireball/etc to test them, and you can always just outright ask them.

edit: Don’t take my post as an endorsement of z-afking. I’m just saying that we shouldn’t worry about it right now.

Yeah it’s pretty obvious.

Why does everybody assume that botters never play the game. They use their botting programs while they’re not playing, same as anybody sticking their Z key.

I report them both. If you’re afk while z sticking, it’s the same as having a shitty bot control your character. To anyone not in the know, you look like a bot. If you are Z sticking, you’re probably not around to refute your own bullshit.

Here’s where you’re wrong. You’re attempting to create your own criteria for what botting is, and basing it on how great the advantage to the player is. Advantage, or gain has nothing to do with it.

Botting/Macros/Scripts and manipulating your keyboard to do something automatically without your input all fall into the same category for a reason. It doesn’t matter what the advantage is. Good try though.

Nice post man, But, i got a different story, tbh i’m not sure how durability works for weapons, i know armor works “by getting hit” so i think weapons is “by time use” even at dura 0, you can still attack, but not at that great damage.

there’s a place… aonaha or something like that (level 46-52 orsha if i recall), that in a range of a Flaming Ground has like 20 “plant-like” mob that do not move, and their attack range is close, so they barely attack unless you past through, so this mobs respawn each 1 minutes, in an amount of 20-30 mobs, and drop like 30 coins, so… like 900 silver per minute.

But the problem is that for a Melee this is a waaaaaaay bad idea, but for archers, they won’t destroy your armor because your range is higher than they range, and you’ll probably 1 hit (as a mage i 2 hitted with flaming ground) and when your wep brokes, well… you can still farm it away anyway xD they don’t move, yay tons of silver.

If i can recall correctly, i got like 100k or so silver and 5-6 class levels just by killing this mobs in 1 hour moving from the 3 spots where they were, using my skills and stuff. grinding for my levels, but that was heeeella tiring x.x i prefer questing

It might take a Z-afker alot more of time, but oh well…

What’s your IGN? So we can party. I totally won’t report you or anything.

“Mechanical” manipulation of the games mechanics is technically an issue from the game developer side. Based on how they chose to handle auto-attack events, this became an exploitable issue.

I personally would never do it, but I don’t think players should be banned for it. Instead I would ask that the devs change how the auto-attack event works. For instance:

  1. How it currently works now; you can hold the attack-button, and your character will attack non-stop.

  2. How it could work, and would resolve this issue; individual button presses are required for each attack. This way the only way someone could AFK and auto-attack would be using the Homer Simpson method; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OkKhkJiJyo

I’m glad they are banning Z botters. I hope they continue to do the goddess’ work

I really hate Z-attackers too… and will never do it either, someone said that a probably work-around could be a “can hold for 30 seconds” autoattacking or something like that

If they will not ban z bots the real bots can copy their actions and pretend like z bots :stuck_out_tongue:

Instant legit silver farmer

In an MMO game, (in my opinion) I feel like most people are internally competing with each other. Competing to have the best gear, the highest level, swing the biggest sword and brag to friends. If botting was a built in part of the game, it would end up as an optimal game simulation (think of the assisted emulator speed runs). I feel like people hate bots, because they have an unfair advantage (can play 24/7, never gets tired, never needs to eat, etc). To an MMO player competing with the general player base, it makes the game less fun, because you can no longer compete. Tree of Savior is a game based entirely on vertical progression and loot pinatas, so a bot can progress better than a player, maximize loot pinatas, and generally do almost everything better than a player. If Tree of Savior were a single-player game, no one would care if someone ‘z-afked’ or botted, because you aren’t competing with anyone, and the game is as fun as you want it to be for yourself.

I think it’s okay to separately classify ‘z-afk’ from bot, because ‘z-afk’ is spamming 1 piece of input (assisted or not) and a bot is simulating the entire game, making decisions, and trying to play optimally. ‘Z-afk’ is a form of botting, one that is really primitive and has no decision trees or anything else. My argument is that a 'z-afk’er isn’t going to compete on the same level as a bot, and isn’t going to gain a huge advantage over a normal player.

No. It is in fact not “botting”. Becuase to bot you must set up some sort of program or whatever. Something (and this is KEY) NOT already in the game.

What you all are referring to is called an EXPLOIT. Its this funny word used to describe when someone takes the rules, and finds a semi legitimate way around them.

So lets end this stupid debate and stop referring to things incorrectly.

Is z afking botting? DUCK NO it is not.

Is z afking exploiting? ABSODUCKINGLUTELY. You see how inused the letter d there and bypassed the curse filter? You know what thats called?

Well… do ya?

YES!! Thats right! I just used an exploit. Get your terminology right people.

/Thread.

This is botting, In this case you’re using third-party hardware to have your character grind without your presence. Is it ban worthy, perhaps not. But steps should be taken to make this a non-issue. Perhaps being disconnected if you perform the same action for 15 minutes without pause. It is very unlikely that a legitimate player would hold down attack for that long without moving or releasing it occasionally.
