For those that didn’t know about the map exp modifier, the game didn’t always have it. It was added in the 3/3/16 kTOS patch update.

2. Depending upon the amount of monsters that spawn in a given area, The amount of experience that the monsters grant will be changed.
Places with smaller spawn rates will have EXP Rates Increased, In more crowded places, the rate decreases.
However, The experience variation will not be shown in the Adventure Journal
Its supposed to help with the maps that give low exp in certain level ranges.
You got a modifier increment to 268% and you still add it to your 100%?
Why don’t you put a % in another % after another %?
Do you understand the word modifier?
I assume you and that guy who had counted it really don’t get that.
A monster give 500 exp, you hunt it and got 1340 instead. That means your exp has been MODIFIED (BALANCED) to 268%. NOT INCREASE BY 268%
I get the feeling this isn’t intentional deception. Just a result of bad programming and lack of foresight on how this change would effect things.
Like that time when they tried to double exp and they actually halved it.
It would make more sense for this to actually work as well as possible for them because it would give more incentive to buy tokens and exp tomes. I get that it would require more exp tomes to get the same effect how it is, but the loss in sale on an unlimited supply product is not worth it compared to the potential of having more people buy them.
duuuuuude… Stop trying to save face here.
You even quoted him
So using your own terminology to avoid more confusion. According to that example maps are “increased” by 268% not “modified(balanced)” by 268%.
He even went as far to say
So i fail to see where your confusion is. For someone who likes to make fun of other people’s maths you yourself dont seem to comprehend it very well.
So let me do you the favour and go through it with you quickly.
100%(Base)+268.4%(map mod)+30%(tome)+5%(team bonus) = 403.4%
1578 x 403.4% = 6366
Now incase your still confusing “increased” and “modified” let me requote one last time
Meaning that even though its called a “map modifier” it actually “increases” the base exp of those monsters on that map.
Honestly its pretty straightforward.
This is what I saw before. It makes us think the exp bonus in based on spawn rates, to compensate for them, and not on map difficulty. Thus, Demon Prison would have little to no bonus, and those crowded maps would benefit from exp tomes to almost their fullest.
This basically. Before the map exp patch, non-token users would actually get 30% more exp with tomes, and 60% with token. They then added the map and team level bonuses later on, which made the tome bonus seem smaller.
Only thing i dont like about your comparison here… you are comparing someone with 0% xp bonus to someone with all of them.
You should compare either someone with no buffs and someone with only the tome, or someone with token and a person with token + tome. Pretty much your saying someone with ALL the buffs only gets 24.2% increase on this map…
No token = 268
no token + tome = 298
30 increase
30/268 = ~11.2%
One more thing…
If it was considered 268 base xp, a 30% increase would be 80.4 xp increase. I think the bonuses should stay additive, but use the map modified xp as base xp.
^ This.
It’s not the first time in a MMO that modifiers are applied at different stages. (Remember the monster size/type modifiers in Ragnarok ?)
So I would rather call that a very dubious design than a lie (Well it’s true that we could call that a lie by omission too…)
I don’t know how it works in English… In French :
90%*130% : Une augmentation de 30 pourcents (A 30 percents increase)
90%+30% : Une augmentation de 30 points (A 30 points? increase)
But I think people usually don’t know the difference between “points” and “%” so I wouldn’t be surprised if they used “%” instead of “points” for the second case…
Oh, yea one more thing id like to add to my last post… if they do make it go off the map modified xp, you have to consider the maps with higher density mobs.
If this is true:
Then on maps where the rate is decreased, you would get less bonus xp from tomes and tokens than you normally would. This also means you actually get more than 30% increase right now on these maps with tomes.
Actually I was going to bed right now. But seeing how eager you are to show your calculation method which was wrong in this exp case, I will be direct for you even when I had made an example already above in my post before.
You and that guy assumed in your stupid dream:
100% from your base exp is added to that map bonus 268% then plus blablabla token tome and other effect.
While in the actual case:
100% HAD BECOME 268% because the map modifier bonus. And this 268% exp rate was the one which NO TOKEN players got.
THEY WAS NEVER ADDED !!!
268% + 30% token + 30% Tome + other stupid effect
And while you so damn eager to correct me, I will quote something stupid for you to give you the stupid fact.
Seems like he does love to PUT MORE DOUBLE CALCULATION TO ACHIEVE HIS DREAMS. Adding another 30% Tome effect to become 433%. You do defend a very nice guy. Here, give you some cookie for that.
Your mistake is thinking I care who told off who. I don’t even play on your server. I have no idea what he spams in the game. This thread has valuable information, and you decided to drop in and contribute absolutely nothing due to some vendetta. I know neither of you.
Why is it acceptable for you to be an idiot, but not acceptable for me to point it out?
