Why is okay to be super racist about BR?

i think you guys are arguing about the wrong topics here lol. Sorry, I had a short exchange with somebody else higher up in the thread about the words I chose when making this thread. I am fully aware that Racism isn’t the Correct word for the scenario, HOWEVER, it is the right one to me.
The reasoning is simple: Racism/racist (to me) is a catch all term to represent socially unhealthy levels of dislike toward a specific group of people because of their nationality or race.

That word already exists. It’s Prejudice.

For the record, I actually wish I spoke Portuguese; Brazilian parties have a lot more dialogue than English ones do. My wife grew up in Rio, so she can translate, but it’s not really a practical way to have a conversation.

True question is: why are you speaking english in an international server? If we are talking about the most common language in the world we should be talking in chinese

OMG a BR not in denial. you just gained respect from me, thought every single one of BR’s are in denial in this thread.

because it is accepted as the international language, and it’s not the most common language server, it’s international server. get it?

Simply put, money.

English has established itself as the lingua franca of the world first through British imperialism, and cemented by US economic power. The US has the largest GDP in the world.

Also, it IS an international server, I don’t believe everyone should be speaking English. I would however appreciate a phrase translator like FFXI/FFXIV have so communication was still possible

Well, in Orsha every “gringo” who tries to blame a single Br in shout, he get trolled, humilhated, erradicated, ashamed and etc.
Isn’t brs foult if you are so brainless and you can’t learn more than your native language.

Today I was doing some quests and arrived a br asking me how to do the following quest. I was talking to him in english and he talking in portuguese.
And yes, he understood everything quickly.
So 80% of brs here can talk and understand english easly, 15% can understand english but don’t try to talk and 5% have no idea what a hell you trying to say.

stop being racist, this is both sad and bad. Just dislike stupid people.

I don’t think there are more BR cheaters than non-BR cheaters or more bad BR players than bad non-BR players.

What i think the reason why many people think worse about BR players than non-BR players is that for many non-BR players, compared to other annoying non-BR players who just blend in with the crowd, the BR players that actually are bad/annoying really tend to stand out by being far, far more annoying than anyone else in chat (like clogging the chat window with “JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA” / “HUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUEHUE”-spam) and disrespectful in terms of igoring non-BR players (Player A : “hey, can you help me with a quest?” BR-player : “BR?” Player A : “No, i’m not BR.” BR-player ignores player A from that point on and does not even have the courtesy to signal that they don’t understand or don’t want to help player A ). I have yet to see a player say “GER?”, “UK?”, “FRA?” or “US?” and then completely ignore you if you don’t provide the answer he expects.

And about these “gibe money plz or i report u”-stereotypes : Unfortunately these things happen, and unfortunately i must say that every encounter (must be 25 or 30) i had with such players it turned out that they were BR players, aswell as some cases where some ■■■■■■■ player runs up to you, killsteals you and then asks “BR?” and if you don’t answer them “yes, i am BR” they’ll continue killstealing (while normal killstealing is annoying i can tolerate it on some level, however these people killsteal you on purpose simply because you are not BR).

So while i personally have nothing against BR players because i know many BRs are nice i can see why many other people came to dislike playing with BR people and why this bad image of BR players exists : because BR players, if they happen to be annoying or anti-social, really tend to stand out from the normal crowd of annoying/anti-social people, at least from the point of view of non-BR players.

Personally, i have nothing against other people regardless of their nationality.
However i’d wish that if players are in a party with players they don’t know they should at least the courtesy to speak english, at least if they are able to. Talking in spanish/portuguese despite being perfectly capable of talking in english is extremely rude towards the other players in the party.
I’m pretty sure when joining a party with strangers you wouldn’t them to talk in german or japanese either but want them to talk in english so chances are high everyone understands what is being said.
If you are in a party with players who don’t know your native language and you want to chat with someone else in your party in your native language you should have the courtesy to use whisper/private chat and not clutter the party chat in a language only two people in the party will understand.

I do the same thing : if i want to talk german or japanese to my friends and other people who don’t know the language are in the party i have the courtesy of using the whisper/private chat to talk to my friends, and in return i expect the same courtesy from others.

ppl talk about USA this USA that…im not from USA (not even close ) , Spain in EU…and like i said i dislike BR not because they are BR , i played with some Brs , and with every country in the world and had 0 issues…every country has rotten apples to be fair.

However , is true (in MY experience) that when a game or servers is mostly BR , the whole experience is ruined , and isnt just 1 game or 2 , is more than 5 , again IN MY EXPERIENCE…but the truth is that we wouldnt be talking about BR players here if it wasnt that common…right?

lots of players avoid BR servers for a reason ,.and this are FACT , are ppl racist? xenophobic? yes and yes, but why only against BR and not against Venezolanos or Peruanos, Aussies or any other country if u are racist u are racist , not “BR ONLY racist”…is easy to see why…because all this country communities doenst create a enviroment where u arent enjoying games…is always BR (Rus have some really bad apples too…)

and my country is faaaaaaaar from perfect , we have lots of children shouting and , adults that are worse than kids… but maybe is 1 every 1000 , and albeit ppl notice it , is rare…but BR ? is fairly common …and 1 bad experience is hard to forget…but 100 ? is impossible…

and here we are …im really sorry for the “good” br players :frowning: , being hated or avoided because u are from Brazil even when u did nothing bad…but this br players usually dont even like to play with other BR , for the reasons stated above.

If your argument is that brs are culturally, intrinsically rude and difficult to play with, then who really cares? It’s their “culture”, right? No matter how many disagreements you have, it’s still nonsensical to declare your culture to be more important and respected than another. A different culture means different perceptions of what’s right or wrong, acceptable or unacceptable. If what you consider bad behavior is acceptable to the other, then you really are neither right nor wrong. Either way, brs shouldn’t be forced off a game that is pinned as an international release on the basis of your hurt feelings.

Seperate servers to reduce conflict? sure. IP banning and acting like you own the server because of your deep burden of being more “civilized”? lmao get over yourselves.

In my view International Server means All Languages…

Portuguese, English, Chinese, French.

If you show me where is the information that you have to speak in English in the International Server i will start speaking english only.

We have bad people like any other country have, the only difference is that we talk more.

Some cultures the people are Shy, Timid, prefer to swallow some problems instead of fighting.

We brazilians we talk, we scream and that’s the only reason for getting blamed.

Put this thing on your head. NOTHING beats you play something in your mother language.

brazillians, come on, other than football they are bad

:stuck_out_tongue:

show me where it is written in the terms of service

Why force another word to fit a meaning when you have dozens of words that already mean the same thing.

That’s like being half color blind and you see the sky red while people are telling you it’s blue and you say “prove it”.They show you the scientific evidence (light rays between the distance of the earth and sun) and you say “Well fk that, I see it red, therefore its red because i want it to be red”.

RACISM IS FOR RACES. BRAZILIAN IS NOT A RACE. If people can’t admit simple things like this and purposely go out their ways to be ignorant, they’re no better than the “super racists” who are discriminating towards BRs.

Ignorance is Ignorance.

Like what bothers me the most about this whole topic is how people are trying to tell others they’re racist and how bad it is; trying to correct others bad/obnoxious behaviors.

Yet when you correct them on simple vocabulary, they refuse to take correction.

This whole thing contradicts it’s self.

bullshit, again bringing back the language discussion to shut us down and dissuade us.

Racism and racial discrimination are often used to describe discrimination on an ethnic or cultural basis, independent of whether these differences are described as racial. According to a United Nations convention, there is no distinction between the terms “racial” and “ethnic” discrimination. The UN convention further concludes that superiority based on racial differentiation is scientifically false, morally condemnable, socially unjust and dangerous, and there is no justification for racial discrimination, anywhere, in theory or in practice.[2]

Today, the use of the term “racism” does not easily fall under a single definition.[3] It is usually found in, but usage is not limited to, law, the social and behavioral sciences, humanities, and popular culture.

Cultural racism is a term used to describe and explain new racial ideologies and practices that have emerged since World War II. It can be defined as societal beliefs and customs that promote the assumption that the products of a given culture, including the language and traditions of that culture are superior to those of other cultures. It shares a great deal with xenophobia, which is often characterised by fear of, or aggression toward, members of an outgroup by members of an ingroup.

Cultural racism exists when there is a widespread acceptance of stereotypes concerning different ethnic or population groups.[50] Where racism can be characterised by the belief that one race is inherently superior to another, cultural racism can be characterised by the belief that one culture is inherently superior to another.[51]
