Sorry man, but I’m BR, and even though I agree we are a strong knit group, at the same time, you will not have a hard time to find BR blaming BR behavior and culture, it’s more common than not for BR to look down on its own culture in favor of NA and EU.

Now think yourself, if you can’t speak english, new to a game, you are probably having a hard time even figuring out mechanics, bc after all, you don’t get english, it is only natural you look for people that speak your native language, so you can get some help and so on.
Other than that, you might say “nay ppl should know english, is a global language” that’s easy to say, but not everyone has the time or the resources to learn a new language. Closest english speaking people to BR is NA, all the way up is spanish, as a matter of fact, if you were to learn spanish which is a very common language as well, you might find out that quite some of os BR can also write/read spanish. My point here is you can’t judge another people not learning a new language just to speak with you, when you’re not willing to do the same.

Yes in fact the word here should not be racism, since racism is only aplicated to races, what we have here is xenophobia.

But that don’t chance the fact that both racism and xenophobia are very close to each other, if you want to express some kind of prejudice, using the term racism (even if it’s not the right term to use) make you argument more understandable (after all some people may never heard the term xenophobia, but know very well racism).

I won’t argue that the term ‘xenophobia’ is less well known, but how about just ‘hate’? or, as you aptly said ‘prejudice’?

After all, hatred and prejudice are what xenophobia and racism stem from; may as well call it for what it is.

i’m BR and i can’t defend our players, the most of them are spoiled children in an imersive culture of trolling people online, they are just like the joker, they want to see the world burn and make memes.

Yes but saying a Dolphin and a Wolf “are very close to each other” because they’re both Mammals does not mean it is the same.

What people are doing is discriminating against a specific Nationality.

Do they have Xenophobia? Maybe.
Are they Racist? Maybe.
Are they discriminating? Yes.

I’m not saying discriminating is ok because it isn’t.

What I’m saying is if people are calling others “super racist” when they aren’t and you explain that you’re discriminating against them based on past experiences; YET YOU STILL CALL THEM RACIST.

That just makes you as bad as them.
You end up discriminating against the people who just don’t like Brazilians by labeling them as racist. Then you become ignorant to their reasoning and refuse to listen; the same why they’re ignorant towards Brazilians.

In the end of the day, no one wins unless both parties agree to disagree and have the mutual understanding of not liking each other.

Because PC apologists would never consider that the cultural differences are behind the annoyance some have with brazilians. When someone points out why they find one group or another undesirable, they would never, ever stop and think if it is legitimate or not, or why it happens. It’s much easier to shout “racist!”, “xenophobe!” whilst dismissing any evidence presented.

It’s unbelievable to them that cultural differences may be genuine causes for disagreements. For example, someone might say that BRs are loud and obnoxious, and point out that they always talk in all caps. Apologists will dismiss this with the usual excuses of “vocal minority”, “not all BRs” etc, yet when you go back in game and look at your chat log and there’s a message in Portuguese, it’ll be in all caps.

Actions speak louder than words.

No matter how many words you throw out to defend BRs, people’s in game experience with them will always leave a stronger effect. And if so many are so tired of dealing with them, that should tell you something. But unfortunately, it’s not “politically correct”, so the Helen Lovejoys of acceptance will bury their heads in the sand and ignore all facts, sticking to good old denial.

Sorry but let me change a little this:

Do they have Xenophobia? YES.
Are they Racist? Maybe.
Are they discriminating? Yes.

And again what reve.syll already said, racism only works to race discrimination which is not the case here.

I used the term racist because it’s the closest to xenophobia. If you do a little search in all cases of xenophobia outburst around the world where followed by an increase in acts of racist.

You can hate anything and anyone you want and have the opinion you want too, but the moment you start to show that hate public and start to hurt people because of that hate, that’s when the racism/xenophobia start.

I don’t want to change the opinion of anyone! in fact i also have bad opinion about the brasilan gaming comunity, but it’s not because of this that i’ll start creating topics and use public chats to offend them, and that’s what is happenig free on Tos.

One last note, there’s something called “new racism” where racism no longer was based on biological but rather on cultural differences. so maybe the racism term works here.

It is not INTENSE, it is not IRRATIONAL DISLIKE and it is not FEAR.

Xenophobia is if me as a Black man go to an area in Japan that does not have black people and they see me on the street and go “Holy crap!! a black man!! THOSE EXISTED? WTF WHAT IF HE ROBS ME?” because it is the fear of the unknown; the fear of strangers.

RACE. RACISM. If it’s “new racism” then it isn’t racism. It’s a completely different word but there people go again misusing words to the point people have to redefine it for them.

Like literally use to mean, LITERALLY; for real. Until people kept saying it so much to exaggerate the word lost its original meaning.
So again, it’s discrimination towards a specific group based on past experiences. It’s not racism, it’s not prejudice and it’s not xenophobia.

Have BRs ruin most of my favorite MMOs in the past? Yes.
Do I dislike all BRs? No, I know not everyone is the same.
Do I think it’s ok to discriminate against all BRs? No.
Do I think it’s ok for people to express how they really feel about BRs? Yes, people have the right to say w.e, even if it’s hurtful.

What people don’t have the right to do is create a system to oppress the BRs or enslave them. So ya, KKK, ISIS, whoever the fk they’re can “show that hate in public” If they want to because freedom of speech. The REAL problem is if they physically go out their ways to hurt people or in this case, go out their way to DDos or IP block all BRs from the game. Now THAT would be completely fked up.

And this is coming from a Lightskin Jamaican who has been discriminated against in Jamaica for being Lightskin and then discriminated in America for being African-American. But do I care? Nope.

I don’t hate all of them. Some BR are really nice. Some of the decent guys even told me in private that they themselves are ashamed of their fellows.
Just some of them.
They are IDIOTS. Pure morons.
I don’t get the point of those bad words until some BRs threatened our alchemist, said shxts and ks our guild members. They started guild war for no reason.

I realize English isn’t your first language, but the paragraph you quoted isn’t supporting your assertion.

It begins by restating the definition, and then states the underlying ideology of A racist, can manifest in other ways. It is not saying that the word ‘racist’ means those other things, just that someone who is a racist might additionally be xenophobic because they both stem from an ideology of inferiority for people not like themselves

There’s really no room for debate here. The definition of racism is what it is; if you are using it in a way that it is not defined, you are wrong.

Why erode your arguments by including statements that are verifiably, unequivocally wrong?

You are understandably upset about people insulting your countrymen; why is it any less valid for me to be upset about people eroding my language?

The word ‘Racism’ is bandied about at the drop of hat, frequently for “anyone that doesn’t agree with me”. It is an emotionally and politically charged word that immediately evokes a reactive emotional response… in so doing it shuts down any cognitive one. It prevents logical discourse.

I usually play on eu based servers so I didn’t encounter many br’s before tos, but in eu region people hate russians because they refuse to communicate with others in english, same applies here too, I’m not talking about party chats or little conversations between br, I’m talking about them spamming the all chat.This is annoying.

Another point is, whenever I see someone enter dungeon with broken gear, 0 pots, 0 prep they %90 br.Whenever I see someone ks, tries to chase my group out of our spot, they are br.So yeah most toxic people I encoutered in ToS was br, that’s why people are racist against them.
