The thing is… people are complaining that it will take to long to reach max level… but why do you want to hit max level easily? Most of the fun in this game is the leveling. You can do the endgame content @ lvl 100 (which are the mission runs which scale to your level with cosmetic items btw, no WoW style raiding confirmed yet or WoE style PvP). So basically you can access the endgame content @ lvl 100, why worry about getting lvl 600 within a month or so? In AA/WoW or pretty much any MMO out there atm thats “modern” you can hit max level in a day, making the leveling part of the game… pointless. One week later u got every class at max level… then you complain you have nothing to do but grind gear. Seriously go look at archeage now, people are basically still grinding, they just dont realise it, but they are grinding for gear, gear which takes pure RNG to obtain, and the worst part is, you can invest all your time and effort and end up with nothing, extending the grind even further. MMO’s are a grind, and here we have an MMO that doesnt sugarcoat its grind, it doesnt trick you into making you feel like you have to login every day with pathetic daily systems, it doesnt hold your hand, you just log in, get some friends, and go grind while being social. I dont know if you have noticed in the MMO trend these days, but most people get there gear, they basically end up sitting in a town or a central hub and just talk and socialise. Thats what it ends up as, you are not actually playing the game anymore, it becomes a virtual chatroom and nothing more. Rather be social and constantly grinding for progression, actually doing something ingame, not just waiting for the next event. I agree this game needs a little more work, needs more stuff adding. Personally id like to see a focus on the card system, add more types of card battles and such so there is a point to collecting all those shiney cards and upgrading them, but thats all this game needs, more fluff. What it doesnt need is nerfing everything to oblivion so everything can be done in 1 week, because someone IRL choose to have certain real life situations that prevent them playing more than 2 hours a day. Sorry to say but THAT is your problem, and a game’s development and design should not be affected because of peoples real life problems, because once that happens, the game becomes pointless to play tbh. Might as well just be another virtual chatroom.
Most mmo are about grinding, you grind mobs, grind quest or grind instances, but “casual” people want easy grind, easy instances etc. then after a month they are bored (or complete everything) and jump to different game to do same grind but with new graphics, similar quests and new shiny items. So catering game to casuals is like shooting self in foot.
ToS is not about end game but about playing your class and having fun, they should balance grind and work on classes to be fun during it. Make grind rewarding and make it fun. Do not make it easy as 95% mmos on market.
I don’t have anything againt grind, actually it is not so bad since u get items and money in the process, something that quest are not giving to you. Now, the main issue about grind is the it is a very repetitive action, so instead of grind all the time (and do some ocasionally quest) they could add map events to get experience.
What do I mean with map events?
World Boss: Boss are there to fight already, but do you recive exp for it? No. They could add big exp rewards on kill the boss, so people could choose between grind or boss hunting (sounds nice, right?).
Invasions: A warning could be pop in the game warning that X map is going to be inavaided so players needs to defend it and recive exp cards based on how much they cooperate with the goddess (we are still grinding but you will get exp and cards at the end if you participation is enough).
Treasure hunting: so far I have just recive crappy skins or recipes from treasure chest, what about change the drop to exp cards? I will be the first one looking for chest.
Demon uprising: an extremly hard and disgusting boss from thoose that make you curse to the creator will show in a specific time frame, so people will have to work together (no just with their friends, I mean the whole community) to defeat him, again the exp cards will be a reward according to your participation.
Monster aniquilation: Kill X amount of the same monster and recive 1 exp card.
Now, there are other options, what about exp rewards to help low lvl players to complete hard task with a daily limit? Or exp based on craft recipes (people will have to farm materials or buy them, which means farm money)? PVP exp (just for the winner and it will be random so people can’t arrange it), why not? There are so many ways to add exp to the game and also to make grind fun.
Don’t take me wrong I love the game and I won’t change anything about the lvl system, but I also understand that some people need another way to lvl up more than grind.
that’s because you are only supposed to play till you reach level 160. it’s the same in the korean beta. the beta tests doesn’t intend for you to max up to level 200 (you can if you want to). they didnt officially announce this but it;s the same as the korean beta.
Whats funny in doing same looking quests over and over again?
I don’t. I just think that between this post that complains about grinding 10 hours for just one level vs the article (where people are hitting level 200 despite playing the game for the first time), it just shows inconsistent feedback.
also it will be good to know that, the beta test scope is only till level 165 (where quest stops). I don’t have a source for this but i know because i was in the korean beta for a while. so what you are experiencing now will not actually be a problem in the official release.
I will make my own way just not to sit that long hours. I don’t want to die early.
About the same as killing the same monsters over and over again
I agree with you , I had bad experiences coming tenet chapel low level . After returning there stronger and at the same level I was able to level up very fast 3 levels reaching up to think it was bug kkkk . Anyway I think a lot of people complaining but nobody explores the options. Come on people let’s explore , do not be lazy !!!
More quest? Are you out of mind?
Quest is the reason why socialiity andfun in this game suck and is generic like any other korean grindfest mmorpg out here. Quest force you to solo 9 times out of 10 because is very rare that your friends play with you at the same time. A quest based game is just a terrible mmoRPG experience .
Where is the beautyfull RO system where you party with people and friends around the open world map without any crappy quest? This is the best system to progress because yiou have to rely on other players, making the whole experience more enjoyable and make lots of friends.
Something that unfortunately, developers lost completely nowadays for the fast profit. A true shame.
What OP meant is that, he has a life and he doesn’t want to play 10 hrs or more just to gain a single level, over and over again mindlessly.
No matter what IMC do, there will be lots of people ranting/complaining.
At least for now its good, only proves people/community cares about the game, just dont overdo it
and control ourselves (act and respect each other like a civilize man not sh*tty kids that wants attention)
From reading your post it sounds like you want them to implement the FATE system from FFXIV. It would be a cool idea and would definitely make leveling more fun.
Whats so bad about grinding mobs? Isn’t a MMO a form of escape of reality? When you don’t wanna do things like house chores or look after kids, replace it with grinding mobs. Coz human can’t live without doing something and killing mobs is perfect “work”.
Basically the lack of a challenge and reward makes it feel more tedious than anything atm
gotta say tho grinding in demon prison is fun
That si almost what i said few replies earlier, 100% agree. Keep the gind in the game but make us feel like there is no grind at all
i think he might still be trying to level on the map you start on
And a grinding only mmo is a botter’s paradise.
The point of MMO isn’t the end. It’s the process. If you are playing the game to get max level, you are doing it wrong.
You’re right, the act of playing the game is what makes it fun (or the adventure) and i used to have a lot of fun exploring new maps and getting new itens (even if they’re meaningless) or even something so simple as gain a new ability.
Personaly speaking, i don’t care about reaching the level cap, the only thing that matters is if i’m able to enjoy most of the content without spending more than a month to get to a new class/skill/map/item/instance. I know that most of the people here are concerned about the game because it feels like it won’t take much time to reach the top and everyone will be do it pretty soon, but knowing that there will be a lot of new content in future makes me worry about hours and hours of repetition to enjoy the new content (honestly, i expect that the EXP charts will keep at a good rate so both new and old players can reach high levels).
Also you can’t forget that are a lot of builds to do (i imagine that everyone will have at least 4 characters) in this game so even if you’ll have a lot of time to spend, seems like most of people just ignore that.
