LOL
Why would you pop an 8x tome if you aren’t 100% sure you can get to a location within a minute or two?
Why would you spend more time shouting because of the “dire need” for a warp, when it would take you less time to walk? (Someone says 30 minutes but it takes way less than that, even if you have no maps up there).
You think a base camp is free? That leveling a squire or sage was for the sole purpose of porting people around? I say this as someone who pretty much always carts people around all creation, but people (myself included) often have other things to do. The expectation or this idea that people would quit, or even threaten to quit, after they reached 252 in a couple days because of their free 8x tomes, all because you’re too lazy to walk to a map, is the most cancerous thing I’ve heard in a while.
Friendly reminder: You and your friends were given enough tomes to do in 2-3 days what everyone else, the people you think are so selfish, had to learn themselves and take several weeks to do the first time. Most people’s first characters took months. Way to prove that an event that levels people this quickly is a bad idea because they never learn anything.
are u serious? lol… i dont think thats the reason
this game got too many “feature” that will make new player quit hehe
The western English speaking community as a whole is pretty huge and diverse, thus there is less common-ground and far more room for conflicts, mistrust and plain lack of care between players than say Korea/Japan.
It’s pretty sad, but what can you do?
The English speaking community would scream racism/xenophobia. You forget that there are large groups of political militant types in the mix as well.
tl;dr
My friends quit because nobody wants to spoonfeed them. But it’s still the community’s fault. Also, it’s not their fault they didn’t think of looking things up on google. Who the hell goes to google when they want to know something? Ikr?!?
Also, players are supposed to advertise and market the game to others and do everything a GM/admin does in-game but they aren’t doing their job that’s why the player base is declining.
Did I miss anything?
I played FFXI for about 10 years. Telling me that the English speaking community is worse or more Xenophobic is silly. You are talking about one of the biggest isolationist countries in history ever. Early on at about level 30 you had to quest for airship keys to move on to the next popular zone for grinding and guess what? The whole zone was a treacherous maze full of goblins that would kill you. Nobody ever expected to be coddled through anything because if you did not do the quest or make it to the camp you were replaced.
It was fun and rewarding for the challenge. Saying you do not have the time to literally play a game is no excuse when I work and have at most 5 hours a day to play but can still do the simplest of things. Are you seriously even playing the game at that point, or going to expect someone to teleport into your home pushing the keys for you to grind gear needed for end game content too?
This is not the community’s fault you literally got power leveled and expect someone else to do your work. You people are the selfish ones talking about solo player mentality as a leecher.
@ophiuchu
I think you misunderstood what I said, so I edited my posts to include the post I was replying to.
Sorry for the misunderstanding then. I just really do hope people understand players like the ones mentioned about quitting gave the English communuty a bad name. The Japanese started making “JP Only” a thing since a lot of the English people simply could not do the simplest of things.
It absolutely disgusts me as someone with little free time that people would try to use that as an excuse, then praise the Japanese saying the English one is so bad and all their fault for being a lazy leecher.
Goodness forbid you actually take the time to play and learn a game. There is something SERIOUSLY wrong with the people left playing this game right now not the “toxic” community.
ikr, finding a specific area is a simple task to do yet they cry becuase no one warps them there. Worse is, he even has the guts to call the english community toxic. That just hurts my eyes (im a sea pleyr tho)
I do miss challenging content. I like it, when you have to spend a good chunk of time figuring it out for yourself, on how to deal with a quest/situation with what you have (your skills/items/attributes). Reconsider strategies. this game lacks it in a way.
ET is not challenging, it is just plain lazy design, no interesting mechanics, only gear checks. how come there are not more bosses like Mineloader (“All run away from that purple circle! fast!”)? we need bosses with mechanics, we need quests, that are HARD to complete solo, we need quest bosses that give you headache not because it is plain you do not have enough damage, but because you have to think on how to move, position yourself, avoid attacks.
Squire are not lazy, they are mostly off (with a repair shop open) hahah
This. Compared to what i experienced in other MMORPGs (RO specifically), this game’s difficulty is nothing, but i still find it fun. I think that the difficulty somewhat made the RO community alive, especially since Google was not that helpful then.
u can play other games if u want boss challenging mechanic like that…
i can suggest u bns or rev online for that tricky boss mechanic
be sure u have good ping to overcome that xD
what annoys me the most is this new playerbase complaining ■■■■ when they were given all the stuff digested into their mouth.
I spy with my little eyes a multi account leecher. He/she/it went into a round of merc and just stood there in front of boss. So much for a first loss in merc (torch died).
