I guess people these days are like that

quest chains may get you there eventually but during the current event that isn’t the case since you’re leveling rapidly through the dungeons unless the player is experienced or extremely active to have the time to clear the quests.

if they’re experienced or were informed to google for maps they wouldn’t have ran into this issue, so it was focused towards new players who have no idea and unfortunately aren’t aware about the map database found through google.

You were already wrong right off the bat. It’s never the community’s job to consciously exert effort to encourage other players to play. You were saying as if it’s everybody’s obligation to worry about player retention and and to coddle to every whim of fellow players. Interactions in-game are heavily dictated by game design and community moderation. And guess whose job is that? That’s right, the devs, publishers and GMs (or whatever you call in-game community mods/reps)

Yeah exactly.

I hate to say this here, but I have been playing RO until today, for 15 years with their healthy community, for a reason.

im aware that it isn’t their job but they don’t have the rights to complain about the declining playerbase when they aren’t putting in any effort to saving it.

it has been a while since i’ve last seen a staff team of a online game advertise their game actively, far as i know it has been a custom for the players to advertise or spread the words themselves to increase the playerbase for awhile.

you sure about what you said? calling the english a toxic community when u are just being a crybaby about a warp.

let me tell you something, new players all experience those kinds of stuffs, not knowing where to go, how to do these and those kinds of staffs so maybe doing your research when no one wants to help you is a good thing? Don’t try to blame the community here.

well it’s the truth that majority of the english community is indeed toxic, that part isn’t just about tos which is why i said “in general”

why are you being a crybaby about it? the community was blaming the company, it’s partially true but they also played the part.

yes research is a good thing, but those new players who leveled to lv.260 asap through the current event are overwhelmed and quit when they’re lost (it’s dumb i know but not everyone is a clever newbie who knows how to google maps, so that’s a shame lol)

Enough with blaming the community.

You’re the one who failed them. You’re their friend. You were there at the moment when they were shouting for help. There was noone willing to warp. You gave them directions yet didnt bother to escort them to kalejimas and now they quit. Gone forever and It’s all your fault. You have failed them cielazer.

How do you think are they going to put in any effort to help retain more players? You don’t see mcdonalds or coca-cola relying on people putting in effort to make more people buy their product. Of course not. And we go back to my point on my previous post. It’s the company’s friggin job to worry and do something about their product and the declining playerbase. It’s like asking fellow customers in a restaurant to take the orders of fellow customeres instead of the restaurant’s personnel to do their friggin job. Games are products. No matter how good the community is, if a the game wouldn’t appeal or wouldn’t be able to retain people, it just really won’t.

Also, where did you get the idea people are ONLY complaining about the declining playerbase? It’s just the result of what people are ACTUALLY complaining about - bugs, exploits, content, poor management, etc. You’ve just missed seeing the bigger picture and instead dwell on what your moronic friends are complaining about.

i agree, he fails to see that the community isn’t the one to be blamed here. IT’S FREAKING IMC with their stupid restrictions and bad management. And i have never seen anyone quitting a game just because no one helps him/her except his “friends” lol

enough with the crying and bumping the thread.

i have actually escorted my friends that still played, some of my friends that have quit login while i’m at work. this isn’t only about my friends, the new players requiring help are often ignored and it leads them to quitting.

what a great example, bringing up mcdonalds that hardly needs more customers.

it’s obviously the company’s responsibility to do so but they don’t care, all we see is companies trying to milk off the remaining cash cows.

i never said anything about people only complaining about the playerbase, you must be delusional. i’ve said this multiple times that it wasn’t just about my friends but it’s whatever i could see that the whole reason you’re here is to increase your post count

perhaps you would have known if you whispered to those who asked for help, i’ve seen many unfortunately i wasn’t aware of the location at the time to assist them.

Let me ask something, did you friends had Exp Tomes running? Did you include that on shout?

I’m pretty sure people are more likely to help if you have a good reason to not be able to walk all the way to that map. If you’re not wasting tomes, cookies or anything like that there’s literally no reason for warping someone who is just learning how the game works.

If you are a new player, honestly, best thing to do is explore the game. Learn how things works. That’s the fun part, that’s probably the reason we keep playing. If we (who have Squires, Sages etc) blindly warp every new player to Worker’s Lodge, Kalejimas etc. where will everyone learn how the game works? Honestly, doing that will probably just drive players away in the future because pushing them to the dailies chore without even knowing what they are doing or what for they are doing those >.<

Plus, just like others said. If you ask a question: “How do I get to Kalejimas?” showing that you’re willing to put effort on getting there someone might even stop what they are doing to warp you. It’s just like the dilemma of asking for money or asking for a job to earn money.

I’m all open for trying to help new players (even with items if it ends being really needed) but I most likely won’t warp or leech new players around, so they have a chance to explore the game things instead of being stuck to Saalus, Mercenary Post and a tower-like NPC that works as dungeon entrance as their initial impression of the game.

Thanks, this provides some context.

So am I correct in thinking the issue is that you and your friends are unable to commit enough time (or feel that you have enough time) to level up fast enough to obtain the event rewards, before the event ends?

If so I’d have to ask why the rush? Is the Red Flower a deal breaker? Are you looking to skip the game just so you can play end-game within the next few weeks? Or want return to quests afterwards whilst over-powered, so that they pose no challenge (and no fun)?

It sounds like players in this situation want to be selective about what they experience in the game. Which isn’t wrong – but IMO I don’t think existing players are selfish for not facilitating this for them.

But all said, I hope you guys stick around and take more time to enjoy the game rather than levelling so hard. Because I think the event is meant to be an incentive for players to start the game, rather than an end-game short cut.

This is a dam lie. I respond to every shout in Klaipeda if the person is asking for help while I’m online. I have reason to believe either your story isnt the full truth or your friends are lying to you about the shouts. Also your a shitty friend for only giving directions to them when you could of just walked them to it or told them about the quest chain to complete but you didn’t.

it’s a good thing to help them but it’s not a bad thing if you chose not to if you have stuff to do You must be a saint

So you are saying that you had 2 sets of friends in this situation? 1st group were the ones asking a warp to kalejimas which you “gave directions and escorted” and are now still playing?

And 2nd group are friends who also needs warp to kalejimas, but you were at work so you weren’t able to help them and they quit? Did they also shouted for warp? Did they actually told you they we’re quitting because they can’t get to kalejimas"? If so, what did you do to get them back in to the game?

Do you have tentative data that people are actually quitting because of the “Selfish Community”? How did you get that conclusion? Is it solely based on your friends not being able to get a free warp going to kalejimas?

We should get more information about this. If you can get your friends that quit to post here and maybe we can get some real answers to why they quit.

right, almost forgot about this!

alot of people have 8x exp tomes running but never seem to include that.in their shout, perhaps they didn’t expect the cold shoulders which is why they felt unwanted and left the game.

Pretty sure this is the reason why they quit. If you don’t have enough time to do something or don’t know how you really can not expect someone else do it for you. You have to help yourself at some point before being helped. It’s absolutely pathetic to blame the community for your own problems calling them selfish afterwards.

I honestly can’t even believe this is a thing.

1.) Blame yourself - Nope
2.) Blame bad designs - Nope
3.) Blame the community - Yep! All their fault.
