I can be the Lolicon representative.
Seems im off the loops⌠what happened to Julie?
She was either let go or left.
Probably better for her sanity, considering she was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
i nominate @LoliLicker because reasons.
Im not sure i understand⌠if we dont even know whether or not she voluntarily left, then why involve imc and make the claim that they might have pressured her into leaving?
Also, while i fully understand that dealing with your customers/fans/players is a nightmare, it wont get you stuck between the hammer and the anvil, because in the end all you need to do is to convey the playerâs opinion to the bosses and devs.
Whether they like what they hear or not, is none of your issue.
I can see that it might be problematical when they send you out with some message like the âwe are not going to open new serversâ thing in the past, but even that is only an issue till you want to keep up some sort of spiel⌠honesty goes a long way with players and thats why i liked Julie, she was or at least seemed to be a lot more honest than most spokes tards these companies keep, and thanks to that she was also more like overall by the player baseâŚ
tl;dr: Sad to know that she went⌠she will be missed.
You asked what happened to julie, I gave you the 2 possibilities.
I got that, but i dont understand why the OP wrote âwhat they did with Julieâ that suggests in itself that they did something with her⌠well whatever.
dibs on vice secretary to the loli rep. XD
Seriously though, the idea is sound, but I canât help but think there is bound to be terrible execution from all fronts.
Oh ok your response was to OP.
Tell us good sir. What do the lollies demand?
ye, was a part of latale since early 09. I had a lot of good times in that community, argued a lot, did dumb things a lot, but actually had a lot of fun since people there had some level of chill and met a lot of people who were really great to me.
It uh HAHA I felt like tos was the same kind of game, fairly casual, grindy with high caps, rngesusâd to hell, and cute graphics/beautiful bgm and artwork, and for some reason, expected the community to be similar. youâre right, it sure as hell is not. People are too polarized here and donât know how to not constantly be pissed at each other. I donât think any sane person would subject themselves to representing this community and facing all the backlash thatâs more or less inevitable.
It doesnât work. Player reps, are a step under Mods/ and usually 2 steps under CMs.
Ive seen this attempted before. The way communication flow and information flow within gaming dev/pubs works isnât conducive for an effective player rep.
What players envision, is a more effective CM; but that never happens.
I personally like the idea, but from past experience; Ive only seen such a program crash.
Oh? I suppose Iâve had a different experience. The one and only reason why the GA system was disbanded in LT was because the entire GM team switched around, and they basically- well itâs whole big story where the GMs were taking advice from high level players (like, secretly, in person) who wanted the game to cater to them, ignoring GA inputs and eventually disbanding them because they didnât like that the GAs were opposed to it/said different things. It was really an unprofessional move, and the community was actually upset about it.
Having been friends with the GAs, they actually take the work to heart. They never disclosed anything they shouldnât have disclosed to me (when they were still GAs, anyways) no matter how close we were, they listened to the community (making threads, micing in game âwhat do you thinkâ) and were good at getting an idea of what the community wanted. They worked to answer questions from players, but never spoke out of line (pretending they are actually a part of the company, etc.) They also skyped and had a hidden subforum with the GMs themselves, so they had an idea of what the GMs were trying to do (until the GMs swapped and they basically shut off communication). They had a pretty good relationship with each other until the new ones came in.
Not that I think it would work here. But the system has worked before, for years on end. They have little to no role in policing how the community should think and act, but they did stand as a sort of role model. Itâs very different from a CM, in my eyes. The closest they got was when they gave one of the GAs the ability to moderate threads, which she used very objectively (like hiding posts with explicit images, posts that did nothing but intend to cause trouble, etc.) but ended up forfeiting the position because she didnât want to deal with the community anymore haha.
Im not sure what GA or LT stand for.
Also reread what the OP wants. What he/she envisions, would never be allowed.
What you experienced sounds alright, but again I have no reference what GA or LT stands for.
Never works. People always get chosen based on popularity, not a deep understanding of the game or someone with non bias opinion. Not to mention theyâre so low on the totempole they rarely even get heard except in passing.
Oh I see, my bad. GA meant Game Advisor, LT stands for LaTale, another korean mmorpg hosted by OGPlanet.
I feel like what theyâre talking about is generally among the same lines? Iâve reread it, but it still seems fairly similar. Itâs not a CM, itâs a bridge between the GMs and players, etc. I might be seeing it from the wrong perspective though.
As per what Darumy said near the top, in reply to Chill.
GA = Game Ambassador
LT = LaTale
E: lol, Ninjaâd
I have no perspective on that game, never heard of it.
Is the player population and dynamics of the playing demographic as diverse as IToS. Or is it only Koreans playing that game.
Gonna go check out their game forum now. Ill respond once, I see the the dynamics of that forum/community.
Well Im not gonna dig through that. Give me some specific examples from that forum, so I can see what they they actually were doing and how they handled the public.
Forums there are dead and nothing like how it was when the system was working most actively, haha.
It was mostly North Americans playing, with demographic leaning towards asians, hispanics, and chocolate peeps. Aeria held an EU server, which shut down, causing the europeans to migrate over as well. Not as diverse as iToS, which is another issue with this idea.
kLT has their own server. Itâs highly popular in Asia as a casual mmo, but not so much here.
Anyways, I like idea. But the 2 instances I saw, Allods Online who had class reps and Neverwinter who had class reps.
They turned into data mining secretaries, and their voices and datamined info made little impact on decsions made by the developers. So the positions just eventually died out cause, it was a zero effect on in-game things. It did however temporarily increase morale of forum users, but once they realized the positions were just data miners for the company; most interest was lost.
