Unofficial Rogue Nerf Megathread + Class Discussion

I literally just got to rank 1 rouge and came
across this thread… i’m level 126 or so, is it even worth it for me to
play this char anymore? i build it for pvp and its also my first char
on the game…my build is

a3 -> scout 1-> rouge 3

i waas under the impression based on skill description that backstab
would be lethal in PVP but from reading this post… its sound like its
not worth doing it.

landing back stab is a though thing in pvp. but if you do it is a good skill. not because of its damage but if you spam both charges chances to stun the enemy is very high. and stun is super powerful in pvp. at least to my experience.

I also think feint is a must in pvp. and that one is not that hard to land imo.

I agree, i just got to rogue2 and i’m hitting like 3k per backstab with 200 str, i haven’t got any karacha, or the attribute at 100, or any gems or whatever, and still i am happy with it. I know it will increase its damage as i progress in the game, and the stun is 7 seconds O.O.

Its maybe not the super burster i thought it would be,or at least until i spend like 5m on it, but its still a nice skill.

On the other side i think its not nice to balance a class arround a lvl 170 set, they are forcing us to swap weaps just for a skill.(

It’s allready been said, rangers don’t need no set to do “decent” dmg.

A3 > S1 > Rogue3 is a common build on KR and it works. Just don’t expect too much from Backstab.

I would suggest going A3 - s1 - r2 - Musketeer

Get rid of backstab altogether if you want to focus on pvp.

Reason: Sneak hit + cloack + headshot or snipe is pretty much the same as your backstab damage, only from a safer distance.

You can probably instantly kill someone if you can follow-up your snipe with headshot.

The musketeer for circle 7 is an interesting idea… How is it in pve? Or like world bossing?

Musketeers generally have high single target burst. You can use covering fire for AOE along with penetration shot.

But if you want to pvp, I would suggest maxing Snipe and Headshot. penetration shot is a decent skill to knock back someone multiple times and do a lot of damage at the same time.

So musketeer would work on my current class path? In terms of synergy that is. Man I really really hope they make back stab more powerful… Rogues sounded so fun to play on paper >.<

Now I think I might make a sorc2 -> feather foot in the mean time until they buff rogues… Blah I’m torn lol

I even bought the Karacha bow and was about to get the dagger too >.<

Just remember, there’s a reason why Musketeer isn’t part of the top PVP classes on kToS. Take all the suggestion with a pinch of salt.

This is true. Musketeer isn’t part of the top PvP classes in kToS. They still have the scary ability to 1 shot people though. xD

Edit: There’s also the fact that it’s monopolized by clerics and mages. They’re practically the whole top 30 classes.

Edit2: On another note! The super “underpowered” swordsmen(accdg to our forums) is in the top 5 with dragoons.

Also, there’s not a single archer class in the top 50 of kToS. They have very low survivability and pretty much only bring damage to the table.

Edit3: I’ll post my adventures here once I learn a few more skills on my musketeer. I’m used to playing patient in pvp and taking my time to pick my opponents apart. We’ll see if a more tactical approach with our class yield any good results.

I think at this point I’m not going to make a pure pvp toon, at least not with this build, trying to see if I can salvage this char into a PVE char.

@Dream would you recommend musketeer as rank 7 and leaving rogue on C2 for the purpose of PVE and potentially doing some world bossing?

@liaght01 thank you for your suggestions! How’s the synergy on musketeer with my current ranks? Do they work or just a stitched together build…

It can work, you’ll have to skill reset most likely though. Take Full Draw and Oblique shot, at least level 1. Full draw for the semi-stun, knockback and def debuff. Oblique shot for the slow.

We took the same class path, and I pretty much quit when I saw my backstab damage(I started working on my swordsman). However, after re-assessing my build I was able to create one that had significant damage output and pvp feasibility but had to either take cannoner or musketeer at r7. (You also drop backstab altogether)

Here’s where things get a little iffy, this build allows you to go plate armor as you will be taking the evasion skill. The skill adds a flat amount of evasion % which you can utilize with a tankier plate build. (Evasion level 5 gives you a flat 50% evasion chance, meaning enemies will miss 50% of the time even without any dex.)

You’ll essentially be using Rifle + Bow or Rifle + xbow and shield.

That evasion part saddens me to no end T_T I got my leather mastery to lvl 50 T_T but it doesn’t hurt I guess, I can still get points into evasion for Even MORE evasion. Thoughts?

If you don’t mind me asking, what level is your char now? And have you picked up your rank7 or still working towards it.

I’m not sure how the math on evasion works. I think it takes your natural evasion(from stats and the archer buff) first, if this stat fails and you are going to get damaged, the evasion skill kicks in. So essentially, more evasion. Except the evasion from the evasion skill triggers after your natural evasion.

Man… Losing back stab though… That signature move was the reason I went for rogue in the first place lol. Sigh… Effing ninja nerfs

Why do you think Evasion works like that? Seems like a flat 50% evasion buff to your base evasion just like Swift Step.

That’s what people from kToS are saying, I’m not really 100% sure myself. Pretty much just information I got from wiki’s and stuff.

Edit:
Here’s a link to someone responding to this question as well: Rogues Evasion skill question
Pretty much, flat 50% increase.

I’ll look through google translate for the ones I saw in the past.

What do you think about skipping rogue2 and pick up falconer?

Not sure. I have no real information when it comes to the other archer classes. I was dead-set on becoming an assassin type rogue, had to compromise due to how weak backstab turned out to be.

Lol you and I both…
