@Tsumo because they aren’t thinking -.-
While I believe the EXP rate is too low. The main purpose, like stated by IMC was to test out the basic of the game, which pretty much consist of the lvl 1 to 60 and to make sure the game works with the english client. And yes games can crash because you only changed language.
And to make sure the Steam Infrastructure is fine, which pretty much consist of you logging on.
Now all the info people have written is really perfect. It will be super useful for IMC. But to the people whining about not hitting lvl 250. IMC never intended for you to hit that level. It’s obvious they are forcing people to stay in the beginning zones (1 to 60) which is where the flood of people will happen once we get the official OBT. That was the focus of their test.
This actually feels more like actual QA / Beta testing. Everyone saying they quit clearly only wanted to play the game and not test it.
Exactly what is the point of blue mobs? Is it an attempt to replace cards from RO or something? Because right now despite having played a decent amount of time, I’ve had terrible luck with blue mobs. Honestly they don’t really seem to add anything to the game other than frustration and that feeling when you get lucky, which isn’t nearly enough reason to break the entire levelling system. I do find the grinding in this game fun, but when the primary goal shifts from just optimal spots to optimal spots AND LUCK, then something is clearly wrong.
I sincerely hope they won’t be a thing in the actual release and is just some on-the-spot idea that they had for making sure the playerbase was spread across different levels during the beta or something like that.
Um… people sure seem to be trying hard defending grind as some holy grail of mmo development. Couldn’t we like… you know, add meaningful content? Maybe have the option of PVP from early levels and have it reward you XP/Loot? Have exploration/growth achievements reward you with more XP instead of just coins? Slight XP bonuses from crafting and refining? Why do bosses not give a lot of experience like blue mobs do?
The idea that we somehow MUST preserve the grind is ridiculous and doubly so in a game that more or less encourages you to make multiple characters.
2 words: PRIVATE SERVER
I was under the impression that the EXP rate for this beta was actually lower than the one in the current Korean beta meaning this isn’t going to be the actual EXP rate of the game. Considering that they are mainly concerned with server stability, I would hold off on generalized statements until a latter beta.
If I worked with them and I saw this thread I would just increase the exp 2x and see what happens. Idk if their objective was to test whether or not this exp rate was suitable for us but they got their answer.
PS - From the business side of things this is bad PR. This is not a good first impression for American players who can be harsh extremely harsh and very impatient. Anyways…good luck!
You are most likely right these are the exp rate of the first version of testing. EXP rate in these type of games are usually one of the last changes made since its very easy to change them. (EXP events being the proof that its easily changeable)
With these high exp gains people are going to hit max level in only a few months then end up quitting out of boredom. I hope they at least make a low exp rate server for people who actually want to work for their levels and not have everything handed to them.
Lol ya have fun playing on a dead server.
Its amazing people keep pulling crap out like want to work for their lvl and stuff. If we look back to the days of grind based mmorpg you grind hard at the last 20% of a game not the first 15%. Stop trying to defend this retarded grind this early like its a good thing, grind should kicks in later on in the game. Also people saying that once people cap out in like half a year they get bored or quit so grind should be slow, thats bullshit logic. The game should be constantly updating so people who are ahead have more stuff to do, every major mmorpg out there get some big content roughly every half a year or so what makes you guys think ToS will be any different? This isn’t an console game back in the 80s and 90s where what you buy is what you get, the game is suppose to be updating on a regular bases with new content as people reach the end game.
And I guess the most important part is the grinding sucks, if the grind is tedious and boring then the game fails as a grind base game which is what ToS is right now, the Grind sucks. Your always under lvl, lack skills, run out of SP and die too fast. Grinding isn’t remotely enjoyable which make it a failure as a grind game.
IN MY OWN OPINION. This is what should be implemented in the game. Exp rate TWICE as much as it is now. More party benefits so that grinding wouldn’t be such a killer. A Guild/Legion system that helps with leveling. AN ASSASSIN CLASS, like seriously IMC its 2015. Drop rate is fine from what I noticed. MORE QUESTS so its not such a grind. More achievements. Player housing maybe? Anyways, that’s it for now.
I’m really divided when it comes to the exp rates. (lvl 70 right now in the beta) Sometimes i’m grinding and I just dread it, other times it doesn’t seem so bad to me because I really do want the game to last – (& for me that means there has to be a grind. endgame just doesn’t interest me) I agree with fate saying to let us get to rank 3 more easily – I like grinding but it doesn’t have to start so early in the game… Maybe like having up to rank 3 be relatively easy, rank 4 & 5 medium, & rank 6+ the grind fest… That would make more sense to me.
Finally someone with some common sense.
The problem with the current exp rate is the grind wall is at the wrong place, once you hit like 100+ ya it should be a grind to get up to the higher ranks but thats because you already are like rank 3/4 so you have skill to grind with compare to now your grinding w/o any skill or gear and the grind itself is just boring and tedious.
I completely agree with your suggested rank to grind difficulty levels. Some people might be of the opinion that “only having rank 6 be hard is going to cause everyone to get to max level so fast!” However, I do believe we are missing quite a few classes, and therefore quite a few ranks. This would be just fine.
Honestly I’m getting quite frustrated with these grind arguments. I’m pretty sure the only argument the grinders have given is, “YOU SHOULD’NT BE ABLE TO REACH MAX LEVEL SO QUICKLY, THERE’S NO SENSE OF ACHIEVEMENT!” and “I LIKE TO GRIND.” They are also constantly insisting that everyone else wants to be able to reach level 500 in a week. Level 500 is going to take ages upon ages, even with increased rates. I was watching a streamer who was level 90, and you know how much exp they got from a mob? 79. You know how much exp I get from mobs at level 40? About 60. Do you know what the exp curve is like? I don’t know the exact values myself but I can tell you that it’s going to be more than a 33% increase of needed experience to level up between levels 40-41 and 90-91.
If you want a game where you don’t get to express your creativity and just grind things, why don’t you go play cookie clicker.
i love u
I’ll admit that me saying that was immature if it means you’ll actually read the points I’ve been trying to make. :\ Sorry.
It’s literally a lie if I tell you that after reading that post of yours I haven’t been considering playing some clicker game instead of continue on this grinding. I am not even joking.
