Tree of Savior Forum

True open-world is something you can't fake

That’s exactly the point, and also why it’s wrong.

Think of it as a new game and stop comparing to RO.

unfortunately u cant stop people from comparing even if u dont. majority of people here are ex-ro players, thats why they are here

The point is that even the developers don’t want this game to be compared to RO, and this is a new game, so being an ex-RO player doesn’t make you more right or wrong than the others.

Try to be neutral, no one compares this game to Granado Espada, Tibia, Wakfu or whatever game it is. I’m not trying to stop people comparing it to RO, I know I can’t, but I just wish people would give a neutral feedback that doesn’t revolve around the fact that “in RO this was better”, “the RO feeling” or “it’s not like RO so this should be changed”

Its spiritual successor of RO so you cant blame people for comparing it.

That’s what the media said. IMC doesn’t want to be compared to Gravity/RO.
Here their QA:

Q: This game looks like that “certain old school game”, but even more simple. What are the features you(IMC) offer, especially to the people that used to play maniacally in that “certain old school game”? Will Tree of Savior become the answer for the fanbase of that “certain old school game” where they were extremely dissapointed in that “certain old school game 2”?

A: Mr. Kim Hak Kyu and Mr. Kim Se Yong are the creators of that “certain old school game” 13 years ago. Now, they create Tree of Savior with different team, which leads to different style and also different game, which is not in anyway connected to that “certain old school game”.

thats the point. you are you. You cant stop people. I want to compare …so il compare

Read my post above, it’s not just me and there’s no actual reason to do so.

But your life is your life man.

oh really? the fact the graphics are the same with RO is more than enough to compare it. Like how everyone compare most MMO to WoW because they saw some similarities.
Even Guild Wars 2 was compared to WoW but they manage to have their own unique identity. And ToS will remain on the shadow of RO forever. The only way they can escape is to have their own uniqueness and surpass Ragnarok but as of now thats kinda impossible. IMC should be thankful to ragnarok community if TOS wasnt compared to RO I bet even you werent here.

exactly, who would care for Tos if not the majority of ex ro players… right? Most other gamers are playing Final fantasy or guild wars 2 by now! :stuck_out_tongue:

Damn, I’m done.
Is it just that hard to accept?

You guys are literally saying this game is ■■■■, and if it wasn’t for RO it would be dead on arrival, can’t you really see the problem here?

I sure am done, even the devs couldn’t change you guys perspectives

I think that’s why i will just make one or two chars if the games continue this way, it’s impossible to a normal player enjoy doing the same quests over and over again for every new class/build he make. I think that’s why grind system and openess should be considered one thing to improve with more priority after the ICBT.

You’re the one who can’t accept the reality.
We’re expecting this game to be better than RO not a copy of it but it turns out it has the same linear system of most fail generic MMO. (except the class system)
Repeating the same quest over and over is BORING!!!

Sure, it doesn’t have to be like RO, but I sure don’t want it to be like every other MMORPGs out there.

Why RO? Because someone said “spiritual meme”? Because it was “the best game of your life”? You compare every game you play with RO?

There’s literally no point in expecting this game to be similar or as good as RO, it’s another game. RO was good, was great, was amazing. Was. It’s not anymore. And has nothing to do with ToS.

It’s just you guys that are imposing and projecting your RO dreams into this game, hyping it over the roof and then getting blasted and mad by the fact that this game is, indeed, not RO.

“Want to be this game to be better than RO?” come on, stop that, you just want another RO. And by the way, RO is still alive, wanna a link to their download page?

i dont mind paying or subscribe IF IF they can really give me what i really want. ive tried too many new mmropg but they failed . If the developers want my money then my opinion counts.

RO had the card system which made a lot of maps viable to grind, your choice was more exp or a chance on better gears. What choice on map “depending on ur class or build” do we have here? Farming places for gear is already a no in this game. Have you tried making some actual good gear in ToS yet? You get stuck in lvl 20 dungeons farming for hours not gaining any exp trying to get that very low drop chance item or you can’t properly farm the spot because the mob is 20-30 lvls higher then you where the game won’t give you a chance to properly farm these mobs. You think of RO as just lvling (I personally never did this, it’s not efficient enough imo) and probably also have the idea of the “meta” stuck in your head. Not everyone follows the meta of how you should play according to the community. ToS doesn’t give you freedom or a chance for this. You can make a cool build (until the meta comes for this game and you won’t even try something unique anymore) but in the end no matter what build you use it will hardly have any affect of the place you grind at in ToS.

Also I went to the 2nd town with a lvl 60-70 lvl char because I wanted to grind some items for the greatsword recipe. I ended up just buying the sword because I made more money lvling then trying to get the items from mobs that 1 hit me. It’s a joke how nothing will stop you from going to a high lvl map because all the mobs are essentialy the same but you won’t be given a chance to try kill the mobs, no matter what kind of strategy you come up with. Just get the lvl you need to farm a mob mindlesly again .

Why RO? because the game has the nostalgic feeling of it.
Ok let’s compare it to other successful MMO. FFXIV has a linear system but the variety of quest you can do there makes the linear system bearable the same with Guild Wars 2. You dont need to the same kind of quest over and over again. unlike in TOS the quest here are easy and theres no variety. MIC said theres a degree of freedom on this game but the current state of it contradicts their statement and you fanboy still lives in fairytale where everything is perfect and serve in a silver platter. I have played a lot of MMO and no MMO who has the same linear system of TOS has survive

YES. All YES. Plus…its our job to compare with whatever we like since we ARE the potential CUSTOMERS. U think the developers made this game for free? Its our money they aim for therefore our opinion matters.

the first thing that i saw in this game, was this, the game is so linear, not just about the maps, but the quests too, every time i want to level a new class, i’ll need to do all the same stupid quests. It should be great if we could spawn in a new city with other classes…
