Trade Restrictions Are Good

Now before you start flaming, I don’t feel they were perfect, as the mistake was to provide additional benefits to paying users, this doesn’t work as bots are obviously also paying users.

There’s at least one other mmorpg with a successful system with locked trade such as Black Desert Online. Frankly the issue is they’re giving trade options to token users at all when they should just remove them all together.

Silver should be untradable 1:1. I’d like to see 1:1 trading be reduced to pretty much valueless items like potions, antidotes, etc…

Capitchas should be put on the market. Frankly people whining because their friends can’t provide them handouts should go play the game, these people looking for an easy cop out seem to be your more likely crowd to fund RMT to begin with. Am not sure what determines min / max for these items on marketplace but obviously the amount of items atm without a cap is an issue. Need more space on marketplace also, 5 is waaay too low, 30 is a healthy amount and allow people with money held up on the marketplace to reinvest money into the market.

Add temporary 1:1 trade on fresh drops amongst party members of dropped loot for 1-2 hours so premades can distribute their loot.

Feel like the above would solve a lot of your bot problems because your previous solution wasn’t enough.

tl;dr
Remove all 1:1 trading except low cost consumables, capichas on market, temp trade option on loot dropped in parties (again, no trading silver so cant monetize this).

It’s not good, it severely limits what MMOs are really about. Games should have multiple of avenues for players to enjoy. The merchants enjoy their money and goods trading, the farmers enjoy looking for items to sell, the boss hunters enjoy hunting for gears, the guild war fanatics enjoy their thing etc. One draw of MMOs over MOs and Single RPGs is that it feels like the real world, a different life in an alternate reality. You mentioned Black Desert Online. Great, 100000 concurrent users at its peak. Do you know how much WoW had compared to that? How about Ragnarok Online?

You never want legit player satisfaction to suffer too much just to dissuade bots, because these bots will find a way to keep earning but the players will leave because they dont like the game anymore. It is already happening. The only way to stop bots and RMT is to stop completely all kinds of trades, making silver worthless other than to buy skills and NPC consumables, and who wants to play in a game where the in-game currency has no real value?

And nothing about this post would prevent people from enjoying what they do, merchants would still be heavy farmers and fill their market slots up with high value items, boss farmers and everyone would continue as they were.

First of all, WoW is a terrible example for several reasons. (Payment model and age being the big two) ToS follows a F2P model and is a new release which is a big attraction for gold sellers, personally if IMC gave you what you wanted, the game would look like BnS does, completely infested. Believe me that’s not what you want even though you think it is, the restrictions are there for a good reason but need to be reworked as they don’t address the problem.

Also, where do you get your numbers from? All of BDO’s channels are high pop during peak hours regardless of how terrible “you” feel like they’re doing.

I have yet to see a single bot in fields while playing that game and feel seeing bots everywhere and spamming constantly takes away from having a positive experience. And RO, really? Where 80% of the player base in majority of fields are bots, I’m not sure what your point was in bringing that up but, yeah okay.

Feel free to provide constructive feedback on solutions, because now is the time, as they’ve obviously stated it’s being discussed among dev team. Simply saying “no that’s bad” doesn’t bring anything helpful to the table and there is no pleasing “everyone”.

Those you’d buy through the market of course. No trading is referring to 1:1 trading.

This is actually a functioning system elsewhere, no, no narcotics involved. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

It’s okay if they make it like BDO, with no trading.
However, ToS also implemented the potential loss, no shared storage between characters, the huge tax on crafting classes which is just plain dumb.

Not to mention is the round-robin loot system in ToS still broken? Seriously, fix it already!

I have a different thread on changes I’d like to see to tokens as the benefits they provide at the moment are well… Meh.

But yes, that’s why I made this post, to provide constructive feedback to staff, like @STAFF_Ethan ahem… on ideas that function better than what is currently in place.

Obviously, gold sellers have no reason to infest a beta, so things were different.

Any publisher that cares about their game has an obligation to address bots / RMT players, sorry if you feel otherwise but it’s a thing.

OP will get “Golden White Knight Reward” from IMC, from implement the idea…
Most population will dislke it if trading is disable and retain of silver 48hr in market…

Believe it or not I hardly take credit for this idea, just stating what I’ve seen work for another F2P mmorpg. Obviously I expect 48 hour restrictions to be improved upon which has not only been said by imc but market changes are also detailed in my post. I find it amusing nobody has anything contributing to say as a solution to the problem other than “people will dislike it”.

Not everyone has to like it, I think that’s where you’re mistaken.

Restricting trading because you hate people with good merchant skill, kek.

It’s just like asking to restrict grinding because you hate people that can grind.

The idea your have stated is actually something I can get behind, it is totally find if I can trade certain items, but it would be great if was all materials and consumables (kind of like a bartering system?). Changing the marketing selling list to 30 would be a great feature as well, because the retriction for just one item my storage is always full and the wait is too long.

Not sure how well the party trading in one hour will work, but it would help if I wanted to help my friends farm for items and I ended up recieving it instead. This option is probably suited for the 1:1 trading valueless items. I toatally agree that silver should be untradable as it can disturb the balance in the games economy very quickly.

Yeah clearly that’s why I proposed to expand your market sell slots to 30. Did you even read the post?

That further proved that you know nothing about being a merchant player in a game.

Haggling is a big part of being a smaller merchant. Without 1:1 trade you restricted them severely.

And no, you can’t stop rmt even by completely removing trading. You should read on the methods used by the self proclaimed ex rmt in this forum.

Uhm, I’m not going to say I’m pro merchant player cause that’s not how I prefer to spend my playtime, but the system is used elsewhere and there’s plenty of merchantile folks there too. Don’t you think you’re being a bit close minded? And I still don’t hear you proposing any solutions other than /crymyprofits

Come on. Be fair now. You have no basis for saying that people who want to play with their friends in a massively multiplayer online game are the ones funding RMT… That’s just ridiculous. Why is it a bad thing for players to want to be able to play with their friends and help each other out through trading gears that is no use to them? Why isn’t it allowed for players to help their friend farm some materials that they need to finish crafting something they want? What’s so bad about giving my friend that I invited to join the game some old low-level equipment that I no longer use? Isn’t that the whole point of “multiplayer”?

You can’t stop rmt completely, you can only slow them down by implementing method which makes them easy to track such as silver trade delay and catch them.

Removing silver trade only make it slightly easier to track compared to silver delay (or maybe harder because there is less evidence), and make it extremely difficult for players that need them.
