TOS can't be epic with cooldown system!

Creator = 50m per woe, needs support alltime to spam AD. LKs with 2 megings, GR and NS blade can clean entire guilds alone, with mail/sword breaker and fk the another guild.
Sinx = Ground Control. Best counter for GR/DR users and WS can use atk speed boost on ppl and kill.

Its all about meta, will be the same with ToS. If you have a moderated limited number of players in your guild like 50~70, you’ll have some essential and some dispensable classes.

A game mechanic is different than a toilet paper roll… Please compare what is comparable.

Pre-rwl WoE were almost perfectly balanced, if you compare them to the actual rwl-WoE, no matter the differences between servers. :relieved:

Truth has been spoken.

Lmao if you base your balance on imba 0.01% drop rate gear(gr card) then thats not balance for me. If a class needs a mini boss card to be useful in woe, its useless. Ground control is too much for a lk anyway, as soon as a guild realizes you get frozen(gr, and if u try to get inside the other guild’s stack using a marc you’ll get destroyed by ad) you’ll get asura’d and one shotted. Thats like saying “a class with gtb+gr card+deviling card is obviously op”. Also if you are wasting a guild spot on a ws(when you have riff song for aspd) idk how competitive ur guild was. Almost every mother fucker is immune to stun/will outpot your damage(same reason sinx arent that useful, not enough dps). Best dps is ad crea/dd hw and best ground control is champ/prof and crea.

Avoiding death seem like a necessary moment to me.
And that’s usually what the potion spam is doing anyway, tanking all the damage and just out-healing it.

So you know the system (no CD potion) have the potential to break everything, yet you suggested it then anyway…

Yes they can.
I even said WHAT they did to balance it.
no CD = one-shot galore (or close to death if your class is one of the tougher ones), because that’s the only way to still have tension when everything that isn’t lethal can be out-healed and trivialized.

This is called META. MOBAs, MMORPGs, FPS, ARPGs, all games with some PvP aspect have this. Unbalanced classes are classes that can’t be countered or its too hard to counter. RO had an epic GvG system cause you can easily counter creator with pneuma / Blinding Mist / Quagmire / Slow Grace / Dev / SPP / Kaupe. If they try to spam AD faster = no HP and insta die if the entire guild don’t support him. Try play as creator without someone focusing you with Devotion, Kaupe, Kaite, Bless, Recovery, Blinding Mist, magic strings and tell us how many players you killed before die.

You should try pure PvE games, because if a class that needs the entire guild supporting to kill someone is unbalanced, ToS will disappoint you a lot.

Why would ToS be epic without CD and change it with cast time? Wow, I’m impressed, I never seen a small mind in such a big head before. Just imagine how stupid that would be. Players would just rely on their skills to win and barge through the game like a mindless grunt. With many different classes and all of them just spam, the server would fry faster than you cooking fries in Mcdonalds.

With the CD, it promotes creative thinking (if you have one), on what skills to do, when to do it and on whom to do it. It builds tactics, it builds strategy, making that the game have more depth. This too leads the creation of party because you are covering each other weaknesses due to your CD. Unlike spam skills, no weakness, you can just solo all the way till the last boss. Better call this ToS Offline if it were that way.

The only thing I would love to see is a slight buff to sp regen. All in all I am happy that with both potions and skills cds.

So you really want to have 10-20 useless classes combinations??(just scaling it up, since RO had 5-6 useless classes with 15 “total” classes available, counting TK/SG/SL/NINJA/Gunslinger). I want different strategies being viable, not everyone using the same stupid strategy and the winner will be the one that had: The better creator/the better prof/the better tarot clown or just got lucky because a prof on the enemy’s frontline missclicked due to lag and got wiped. I want a game where you can make any strat/composition viable, given the correct support. It didnt matter how much you invested into a LK composition, you’d still get ■■■■■■ by any intelligent guild. There is a reason everyone almost mirrored themselves in guild compositions(the difference being mostly: someone running champ for recall and other guilds running a stalker). I expect every class to be able to fill up a role and I dont want the game to become a “spam 1 key wonder”(excluding prof, which was one of the classes that used a lot of skills(WoF,SW,LP,OLP,Dispel,Fiber lock)).

Haha, you made my day ^^ Like that, it’s worse, cause you even don’t have to react to spam the pots… Laziness rules the world xD
…I’m not even sure you are authorized to use this method in an official server btw, but nevermind…

LOL, ah well i didnt had that luck, but on last day i played with a friend and did this, i got 5 levels and 3 class lvls just doing that.

Next CBT i hope we already are in with the actual key (im assuming we are since its account level) gonna have fun with my friend again, and im sure i will at least reach level 50 this time lol (assuming the exp will be the same rate, but i think it will be better).

What’s the point of having a skill tree and multiple classes if your previous circle’s skills end up not being used at all because you’d just spam your strongest skills within that global 1 second cooldown -_-

i feel like if they were to remove the cool downs, it would be similar to maple in terms of combat.

ummm and it would be boring while grinding, i played maple and grinded few maps, i fell asleep in 30mins to 1hour most of the time ==’

BUT when i play ToS during beta, the grinding was fun and i didnt even realise that 1-2hours was gone and i leveled a few times without taking notice thanks to pt chats etc XD huhu

ToS seems like it will be forever graded as a RO successor when it should really be fine tuned to be its own epic game and not trying to improve on what RO failed. There are many mechanics that RO failed in namely spamming skills and potions. I agree that the cooldown on potions is a bit long but it makes you not depend on them and promote party play. And with more group play at higher levels, potions would probably be only used for emergency situations which is what I think ToS is going for. ToS gameplay seems to very emphasized on party formation such as group quests, party finder, parties near you, group rewards, etc… One could say a lot of mmos try to promote party play as well but I feel ToS is doing a great job in finding ways to promote it. So in that respect I’m okay with the potions having a decent cooldown. Besides RO ruined potion spamming once they introduced slim potions. Then everyone got to live for like a million years. Didn’t even need a macro button or gaming mouse to live long since you could hold a lot more potions and spam them.

I was not able to reach very high level in the beta (around lvl 30) but I believe the current CD system could be improved since it seems like there are many skills that have a short CD at like skill lvl 1 but then increase dramatically as you increase the skill lvl. I think there needs to be a balance, having a good amount of skills that have CD but a decent amount that don’t have a CD since that will promote true creative skill play. If all the skills have CD and you have like 20+ skills it would just be a timing game where you just plan your events very systematically and would become a very boring (to me anyways) and casual game. I still believe to this day that RO, because it was so fast spaced with the spamming of skills/potions, had players with amazing reflexes which made everyone think faster and in-turn made the game really fun and competitive. RO went a bit overboard but it was still great during its glory days. Long live Loki!

it won’t be systematic since it won’t always be the same, there are 600 levels worth of contents and different gameplays each section of the game( early mid end game) so i think by the time you manage to be systematic with the skills and its CDs, the new type of monsters we encounter wouldn’t allow it

I loved Ro, i played it for years. But people should really get their head off their rear. It was NOT better before. Ro was super cool yeah, but it was a broken game with stupid mechanics, absolutely no balance whatsoever.

While I want to (and have :heartbeat: ) find that feeling again, the last thing I want is ToS to take the same path …
The cooldown system is extremely easier to balance, it brings windows of oppurtinity where everyone can know when X char is strong because he used this buff, or weak because he used Y cooldown.

Yes… Having the same creator plays a huge part… They already share a lot of features.
As it looks like, ToS will always be the “little half-brother” of RO…
ToS doesn’t HAVE TO follow the same path as its predecessor, yes, but it can.
Spamming potions (first slim pots, then green beers…) ruined the system for almost everyone here, everyone is saying “There is no fun at all, it’s stupid blabla…”, and RO’s DevTeam didn’t fix that. But it was extremely easy to do it: add a maxvalue to the number of potions you can carry with you (not just the total weight), could have perfectly done the job. They didn’t do it, too bad for RO…

Like you said:

But everyone here can’t think about anything else that “Spam -> Bots/Third-party Progs -> Cheat”… Sad World… I dare to hope that some people played RO normally…

But back to ToS: I don’t think ToS’s DevTeam will remove the CD system, I hope no (especially for the skills). It will be perfect to reduce a little bit the CD on healing items. They also can remove it, in an easy way. BUT IF they do so, they HAVE TO do it smartly (of course).

The Fox is right.
