This game disappointed me

Go ahead and make a thread about good things you like in Tree of Savior. This thread is about feedback and criticism. It’s not a circlejerk for IMC’s defense force.

Feedback can be good

There’s a place and time for everything. If you decide to post positive feedback in a thread like this one, expect people to argue with you and you better argue with them in return too instead of breaking down with a S-s-stop b-b-bullying meee! J-just go away! Stop disliking what I like! ;_;

I’m cool with that, this isn’t a hugbox or anything I expect people to disagree with me

this thread seems to be the most civilised one I have read so far. ( Compared to those previously closed ones) I have high hopes that this one won’t die any sooner

I hope some staff is actually reading/ following all these.

What TOS lacks in general:
The achievement feeling. Nothing in this game makes you feel as if you’ve achieved something.
You don’t get rewarded with something cool/unique for getting 100% map exploration or collection completion, nor does having many titles or completing most quests have any significant impact on the game.

The content that feels most rewarding is actually the slaving-through content (e.g. Earth Tower,Saalus) because you will eventually see results from what you do. DPK-system was designed similarly, but it was too flawed so it was given up.

Instead, nowadays there is little to no content that can be satisfying enough for casual gameplay unless you like dressing up anew every month after throwing 100-200$ at IMC for Blessed Cubes.

Lately, some of the quests give you additional rewards, but it still has little to no impact on the story/gameplay, you can just change into every normal Class without a quest, funnel silver/attribute points into your attributes and still feel bad because your Class/build is underperforming even if you have decent-good equipment.

Demon Lords are also mainly a chore, after finding out how to tackle them, they are as easy as before, just being larger HP sponges that take longer time to bring down(I even managed to avoid both damage and armor damage completely by just thinking&playing actively, it’s a joke).
Then you wait 30-40 minutes till the amount of players killed it, recieve your cube, open it to get more insignificant stuff and move on because once again you didn’t recieve the card/stuff you actually wanted/needed [Monster Hunter level of annoyingness to always get the wrong item].

I wished they’d just tone down the damage/power creep a little and instead make bosses that take less time to finish (or making the bossing more rewarding, spending x hours just to get 1 single useful item because there is nothing else to do is unsatisfactory).
How is this playing casually if you need x hours to get your weapon, then x hours to transcend it and another x hours to kill bosses? You might never see any results (or by the time you see them, the content is old/outdated; moving on to newer content will be the most likely solution for players).

Well, I guess if they leave the bosses as they are currently, by the time Rank 12/level 500 hits, they will drop easily so maybe it’s just future-proof content for a time when TOS has lost even more of its playerbase to the competition? TOS Mobile new endgame?

bruh have you tried the new r8 costumes quests? some of them are hard, im actually in my 3rd week of trying to finish the zealot trial quest 3rd tier. its kinda frustrating tho so beware

TLTR.

I just came back for a 2 years (or 20 months i think) hiatus. I was going to quote some of the thread starters POV, but i’m too lazy to do that lol. It feels like he/she stop playing the game half way.

To be honest, some of his whining are the request of the old players before. The game right now is too spoon feed for the new players. I can see that IMC hears their players, but it takes years to implement that LOL.

The game is not even pay to win. I don’t know why he/she said that. I ain’t a white knight, it’s just that i never experienced disadvantageous to the players who pays the game. I mean, i can kill players who uses cash even if i never paid anything. The only thing i paid is the DLC before.

If you guys read his first post, please tell me if he mentioned anything about PVP. If not, please save yourself from sympathizing with this dude.

Thanks for the invaluable feedback though. The admins will hear your sentiments, after a year LOL. So be sure to check the updates from time to time. Haha.

Welp, the only thing i can say is that, players will never ever be contended in a game.

No, I haven’t tried them, because I have no new Class except Retiarius and I honestly don’t feel the need to level up character after character just to get some new costumes unlocked that I can’t use on other characters.

It’s already disappointing enough that TOS is still tree of alts where having more characters is more advantageous, but I mustn’t be bothered to create even more just to feel some achievement I couldn’t feel any other way.

It’s actually nice that Saalus benefits are getting toned down so you can get away with less daily runs if you’re not in the mood for it while not feeling down for having missed some potential gear improvement…

WoW don’t have a huge number of classes anyways, You play with 6 characters or so and you have already seen all the variety of the game and there is not much incentive to create another character.

Fun fact mate: most of the RO nostalgics quit the first day because they were offended this game was its own thing and not the HD RO they wanted. This game has its own playerbase. Sure, some of the players are old RO players (including me) but almost nothing in ToS reminds me of RO at all.

Tostard

Ok, go back to doomposting in the general

Your point? We are talking about class variety right now.
The focus of WoW isn’t the class variety, speaking merely of the classes and their skills WoW becomes boring. That’s why WoW is focused to something else to encourage players to keep playing.

Isn’t just cosmetic, I can make 5 characters with the same class (for example Shinobi) and still play every shinobi in a different way, The simple fact of mixing classes totally changes the focus of your character.

PD: I know PoE can make this without a class system but it’s not the same since ToS keeps the class identity, the feeling when you’re building the character is totally different.

Maybe for the Cleric&Wizard tree. Swordsman and Archer tree always play the same, it run&shoot for Archer or facetank and hit for Swordsman. I’ve yet to see some real difference.
Of course, some Classes play a bit around with that (e.g. Rogue/Hackapella for Archer who are close combat fighters or Retiarius for Swordsman who is better at a certain distance), but it’s still the same thing.

Cleric and Wizard offer some variety through buffs, debuffs and skill interactions, though it’s still basically divided between buff/debuff and attacking, and in the end you still need to deal damage to advance in this game(e.g. Swell Body,Clairvoyance&Resetting having no effects if the enemy is not killed).

There is no content that doesn’t require you to kill to advance.
In fact, it got worse with powercreep and every update, bringing new dungeons/game modes/etc that all only work via damaging&killing monsters/things.

In my opinion, Tree of Saviours one point it excels at is the fact that it allows you to build an all-around character (which is rarely utilized, though) that is good at more than just one thing (e.g. let’s say this game has 12 Ranks max, you can build e.g. a Cleric3 for healing&support >Paladin3 for defensive purposes >Bokor3 for summoning purposes and >Zealot3 for damage purposes).

However, the game is not fully utilizing this feature by enforcing meta builds that are overly efficient at farming/leveling/instanced dungeons, resulting in full support builds to make up for the lack in defence/support/etc of meta full-attacker builds. This is how MMORPGs usually work, branding a specific role onto a specific Class tree.

This is not how TOS should work. TOS should promote free Class building to accentuate the “freedom of choice” in the Class and skill roster. That’s why Archer and Swordsman should become more divergent, with more support Classes and more emphasis on action>reaction skill-combos (e.g. Retiarius throwing the Rete and then using a pierce skill for more/better effectiveness, not just Bunshin no Jutsu>spam all your skills>done).

Classes like Hunter&Sapper need to perform better and bring more use to the table. Not by increasing their damage but by increasing their support value.
Same with Corsair, it’s still basically a bad damagedealer, not a green Circle Class.
Why does he need Keel Hauling, Hexen Dropper, Dust Devil and the two C3 skills if they’re just bad damage skills?
Why isn’t Cataphract a green support Class? The damage is just bad so it’s mainly popular with Lancer because Acrobatic Mount boosts Lancers skill damage.

There is so much potential in the Archer & Swordsman tree that could bring in more defence&support, so you could mix them nicely into an all-around build that can excel at most gameplay content instead of meta>all and some Classes/builds having more damage than other Classes/builds in the party could compensate for.

This is what truely destroys Tree of Saviour, coupled with IMC sponging up enemies to counter power creep because power creep is too effective.

Random guy coming along to say,

IMC support is also crap, making this bug-riddled, bot-infested, sometimes unbalanced game worse. Just recently got a reply to a ticket I sent since September 2017 (asked a simple question regarding some stuff they did was a bug or intended) with a bot reply I see quite often.:

Greetings Savior!

Due to the large scale of tickets we received, it will be hard to track individual report of unique cases. We would like to inform you that for the past months, there have been patches and fix that was implemented to fix various bugs and skills that are not working as intended. Kindly try to check in-game if the issue you reported has been resolved, and if the issue persist please do report it to us again.

For the announcements on the fix and patch that was implemented in the game, you may check them on our official website.

Tree of Savior Support Team!

Disappointing game coupled by disappointing support. Hard to care about a game where the company does not even care about the players.

Just because the swordman got more HP than the other classes doesn’t mean that every swordman can be a tank. swordmans can be tanks, debuffers, CC, nukers, consistent dps, etc. A peltasta is not played just like a highlander or a barbarian (even between Barbarian and Highlander the gameplay is not the same).

Run&Shoot is just for Quarrel or reiter builds, you can go Basic Attacker, High AoE, Low AoE, Buffer as an Archer. For example my bullet marker is full Aoe (Sapper, Wugushi, Bullet Marker) and I almost don’t use basic attacks.

Yeah, I agreed with this, but they could also keep making content that needs to kill stuff where it’s necessary to have a balanced party in order to complete it (healer, debuffer, tank, dps, etc).

I want to see that kind of stuff where a full support would be absolutely necesary.

Hunter just need a better IA and a slight rework to some skills, Sapper needs a rework to several of its traps.

Corsair is still a mix between buffer / CC. The only thing I would ask is that they remove the party leader / party members restriction that’s annoying. Pistol shot is a nice AoE skill and Hexen is decent, dust devil is more a CC skill. corsair is not low damage at all.

I agreed that Cata needs a rework.

Agreed.

Having slightly different skills isn’t really a different gameplay.
Some CIRCLES play differently, like summoners compared to normal casters, or Hackapell and Rogue vs normal archers. But otherwise it’s just meta builds with small variations in terms of filler circles and that’s it.
Casting Swift Step every 5 minutes doesn’t make you a buffer and doesn’t change the core gameplay of archers. And then, what IS even the gameplay of an archer…

Highlanders areconsistent DPS trying to inflict bleeding in order to maximize damage and combo dependant, while Barbarian are focused on CC stunning your opponents and increasing the Slash damage.

In fact I was thinking of Appraiser and Falconer when I said buffer.

No matter how much personalization a game has, it will always end up with Meta builds, that’s not something IMC can change, the only thing that can change is what the meta builds are.

Yes but what happens in practice? Or are you talking about PVP? In PVE you rarely need to CC (can’t usually CC bosses anyway) and in the end it’s still the same gameplay with just different filler skills (you are in melee range, spamming skills which consume SP, just like any other melee circle). A chaplain or a monk will have a bit more variation since they MIGHT sometimes need to stop spamming melee skills (or hold Z in chaplain’s case) and cast Heal, but that’s pretty much it.
Falconer is the same. Just because you have to refresh a buff every X seconds doesn’t make your falconer-centric build play differently than other archers. It’s really mostly a matter of visual gimmicks they attach to classes (falcon pet in this case).

To be honest even within the same class people plays in some different ways. Just because you like to facetank+spam skills on any mobs doesn’t mean every Corsairs, Dragoon, Lancers, Catas, Fencers, Reitariis, Peltastas have exactly the same playstyle.

Same goes for archers, you can focus on more AoE with Reiter, or even go full AA, you can pick Falconer -> BM for AoE with aiming, you can go AA BM2, you can have other play styles like Hacka gets into melee range more often.

As for needing CC, that’s another issue, if the class is able to CC for gameplay that’s on the class, you don’t just pretend it doesn’t exist because monsters dies too fast, the gameplay style is still there. During CM some classes might rely on CC and grouping for combos.

Also, the core game isn’t just about bossing.
