This class system is absolutely maddening

The limitation is set there for balancing purposes if you take the time to learn about class attributes.

I’m pretty sure that the developing team handled attributes after deciding how the class system would work.

It wouldn’t make sense if they developed the attributes first and then created the class system accommodating to those attributes.

Nah, I see them designing it there way you mention earlier where you can pick and class at any time and rank them with the attribute at the same time.

They then found a problem with balancing when using two similar extreme class to start the skills and level, stacking the attribute. They also want to enforce variety and uniqueness, thus the current class system was their solution.

That is how i envisioned their development process.

I haven’t been reading the posts in this topic, so I don’t know if any of them continue to be directed at me, but suffice to say I am no longer so bothered by the class system as I was at the time I wrote the opening post.

Although I am still a little disappointed in the rigid hierarchy, the majority of my aggression was due to an unrelated but simultaneously occurring issue which I did not confront right away, instead taking out my anger on the game. Since I have now addressed that other issue, I no longer feel that frustration with Tree of Savior.

Since I’m avoiding reading the posts, I don’t know whether the discussion in this thread is hostile; if it is, then I’m sorry for causing a problem, and for the rude replies I have given so far in this thread.

I hope to see some of you in the beta on much friendlier terms than I’ve allowed here! Sorry again…

the other classes un announced are being tested by the Devs along with contents, their organising them and tweaking them here and there~

I really hope there’s going to be some sort of reskilling frature.
You don’t know how good most of the skills are before trying them. Which isn’t teally viable, given that the game will be grind heavy.

Oh look… It’s another individual upset with ToS because they were expecting RO. Nothing else to see here, guys. Move along.

@TetsuyaHikari:

Why are you not posting anything constructive?

To be honest,
this kind if threads is annoying me.

TL;DR: Wait till tomorrow, play the game and stop complaining about a system you never tryed by yourself ingame.

Long Version:
You are testing a class system based on a skill simulator.
you have no experience how the classes are played, you have no experience how the game themself feels like, and you complain about the system which is probably the bigges experiment a company ever have done.

Every MMORPG in the last 15 Years, sticked to static class expansions, where you only had one or a max of 2 different improvements. IMCGames is going completely new ways with this system, and i was able to test this system in the CBT1, CBT2, and i am playing it currently in the CBT3 and i love it. I was playing Ragnarok Online 13 Years and i know the system very well, and the System of TOS, is totally different. It will take ages for you to get behind every class, and how to improve your class to a great state. And exactly thats the long term fun on TOS. If you dont like this kind of game, you should understand whats TOS about.

Kind regards
Gardosen

Allowing people to chose any class and increase their circles indiscriminately…

Yeah, no.

I don’t want 90% of the mages running some kind of cookie cutter Pyro/Cryo 3 + Linker 3 + Psyco 3 build.

The system as is is fine, people will have to make some sacrifices but there will be rewards (and more diversity).

The investment of play and grinding required to reach “max level” in an average MMORPG is a waste of time

There are a lot of things wrong with your post, but this is the crux of it. This idea that leveling is a waste of time is the antithesis of tree of savior. Leveling up IS tree of savior. This is not your average MMORPG. There are maps in the game for levels 570+. You are approaching this game with the wrong mindset and it shows throughout your post.

OP’s post is about his opinions.

Please respect that OP is allowed to opinion.

OP, please respect other players opinion.

If someone is factually misinformed, feel free to correct them. But a flame war over opinion on something is ridiculous. Anyone’s feelings about the class system is subjective. Anything with little information can only be speculated about. OP knows how the system works, just doesn’t enjoy it. That’s all there is to it.

Just a quick question and since it has something to do with the topic at hand, I feel that should be posted here. (sorry if someone already asked and was answered, I just didn’t read every post).

Will it be possible to reset stats/skills like in RO?

I didn’t say he wanted every skilli said he wants to be able.to have every inner circle for all the classes he wants like lets say he chooses wizard he wants to be able to.pick wizard get all 3 inners without skipping a class which doesn’t make sense because the would pretty much limit everyone to the same thing. The design implemented now makes you think what you actually want your character to do and what you have to give up but what you also gain

It is quite complicated and confusing. To someone indecisive is me, it is definitely maddening. I have no idea which class I will try first.

I wanted to quote this post, because it really speaks from my heart here. I have been in the KR CB 3 for my first time, and honestly i didnt really understood the class system at first. And i think i still need way more time to before i can look behind this system. One thing is cristal clear to me though. IMC gave us a game were we can really experiment on with the classes. And exploring so much possibilites in and out of it. Maybe some players are frustrated because the game system is a bit too much unique. Not for everyone perhaps. But when you look farther perhaps you can also see that we will get a game, that is changing so much of that boring old way MMORPGs are often being presented. I am really excited to see what the future has in stock for us.

They’re basically subsets of skills

That’s all a class is, in every mmo in the history of gaming.

You brought up ragnarok, let’s talk ragnarok.

What is the thief class? Detoxify, Evasion, double attack, steal, hide, envenom.

4 active skills, 2 passive skills.

What is the archer class? owl, vulture, concentration, double strafe, arrow shower.

2 active skills, 1 buff, 2 passive skills.

What was the swordsman class? weapon mastery, hp recovery, provoke, endure, bash, magnum break.

3 active skills, 2 passive skills, 1 buff.

Now let’s throw passive skills out the window since you made the decision to ignore attributes in tree of savior.

Thief: 4 skills
Archer: 4 skills
Swordsman: 4 skills

So are you going to make the statement that thief, archer and swordsman are not classes in ragnarok because they only have 4 skills each? After all that’s just a few subsets of skills, not an actual class. Or are you going to recognize that there’s quite a bit more to defining a class in games like this than simply the number of skills they bring to the table.

That’s exactly what’s happening right now tho. Nothing but cookie cutter builds.

Nothing but cookie cutter builds.

This is an absurd statement. I’d really, really like to see your source on this.

My experience so far has been quite the opposite. People I view have builds all over the place, and I almost exclusively level in parties.

I am very curious to see how you know that CBT3 consists of nothing but cookie cutter builds.

Can’t play in the Korean CBT3?

Go to Youtube or Twitch, watch pvp and talk to the streamers.
It’s funny how some people are all like “why do you act like you know this, the iCBT hasn’t even started yet” after 2 CBT’s have already taken place and the third has already been going on for days now.
