This class system is absolutely maddening

easy, u keep quiet we keep quiet~ just ignore instead of wasting those few seconds un-follow this post~

p.s: ur the one who started this in the 1st place, we just gave opinions not complaints like saying the game sucks before even trying it out in beta

just delete ur own thread =,=

Even if that’s not what you meant, it’s still true that it’ll be way easier to min-max with access to all classes in the tree you pick. As I mentioned in my previous reply, having to give up something to get something will never lead to min-maxing because it’s easier to counter the builds with the current set up as every build will have at least some weaknesses as compared to the set up that you want. And go ahead and just leave, cause honestly, you’ve already been proven wrong. Lol.

Not really, Min-Max will just be way different, actually not really that different, just circumventing a little but it will still exist. And i don’t really see how he has been proven wrong.

to be honest, even if it still exists, it would take a lot of time to actually make the difference really big so not that major of a problem at the moment

This test is just mainly to test the platform on steam so we can worry about those OP classes and incoming nerfs when the real thing starts XD or during CBT 2 if there is one

Because he wants to be able to use any class within the skill tree whenever he wants. How is that ā€œnot really that differentā€? Min-maxing is minimizing weakness and maximizing strength. With the class set up he wants, that would be extremely easy. But with the set up now, that’s almost impossible considering how many possible weaknesses your character will have depending on who you’re facing. Like I said, having to give up something in order to get something else would make min-maxing so much harder than what he wants the class tree progression to be.

Oh, i had an entirely different concept of what min-max was, my bad.
Mostly what i thought it was is using every way possible to maximize your character the way you want, like you will go Warrior/Warrior/Barbarian/Barbarian/Barbarian and whatever class comes next just to maximize DPS and there is little to no room if you want to be the top of charts in melee dps and things like this.

I guess this system does indeed make it more difficult to min-max, but i don’t think it is a necessity, as you could balance everything just to make sure Paladin/Paladin/Paladin/Barbarian/Barbarian/Barbarian/Rogue would be a jack of all trade, master of none. But i can understand the concept behind of what they are doing

The problem with games that can min-max easily is that all the builds will just end up the same. The only diversity it’ll have is what role you’re min-maxing at. Currently, I have 22 different builds in TosBase’s skill sim. And I’m honestly having a blast conjuring up all these builds. Because that’s the thing about the current set up. It gets you thinking. A LOT. If I could pick any class any time I want then I’d probably have around 8 builds total. Lol.

I take it you are the WoW player type who prefers that every class is balance against every class, making them pretty much all the same with a few gimmicks to differentiate between them.

There’s different form of balance, and if this is RO spiritual successor, it wouldn’t be surprise that the balance is base on the traditional rock-paper-scissor system where each class build must have a weakness and can excel base on different situations.

yup, meaning everyone has a chance to actually play their way and work with others to plan and play even a better new game-play etc.~

Really? I actually think that there would be more variations, like i LOVE Magic Knights, and it is currently impossible to do it in this game(f*** paladins), so i will have to wait a class to be released in the warrior ā€œnodeā€ so i can do it, there is the thing that i would love to play(and roleplay) as a pyromancer or cryomancer through the entire game, but it is not possible in this system as well, but this is all preference and it WOULD be a nightmare to balance everything

If what the other tells me is true, you can equip any weapon regardless of your class. Just make a mage and equip knight gears then.

Just because there are more variations doesn’t mean they are min-maxed. That’s the problem with mmos. Most people who play it want to be at the top. And to do that, you HAVE to min-max. Doing it his way would lead to easier min-maxing thus less build variations. Current system makes you think more on what to do. Which will actually end up giving you more class combinations since it’s harder to min-max. As for the class combinations you want, well, I wanted to make Azor Ahai from Game of Thrones, which is kind of like a Magic Knight. But, I can deal with not having it. Lol.

Based on this video posted by @Kiyoshiro

That’s not going to work.

Yes but it really isn’t the idea of what i have a magic knight being haha.

lol. Well it’s not like I don’t understand how you feel, especially in other non-xianxia games. I like playing support, but I also love swords ^^;

I’m going to make a sword wielding cleric =p

Yes, and that is why i would not be mad if they kept things as they are, but i would still prefer something different, and they could try the rock-paper-scissor that Agranite mentioned to balance, but then they would need to revamp the rank systems too as lets say a archer or mage could counter a barbarian, then the barbarian can choose either Centurion counters a archer or mage, and just doing this simple analogy(?) is hard, imagine balancing a 80 class game.

For me it depends on the game, sometimes i love playing as classes that are there just to make things difficult for you opponent, like casting debuffs, displacement and traps, but its really is difficult to find games with this classes. Next on my list would be Magic Knights, Speciallized mages(like pyro or cryo) and Rogues

I don’t think he meant literally 1 class can beat another class and then so on. But a certain combination of classes will do better against someone as compared to someone else and so on. That’s what will make it interesting and have a lot of build combinations. And how is this NOT different? I honestly don’t recall any game that is similar to this one when it comes to build variation.

Oh it is certainly different, but i wish there were more games remembered about the people that like Hybrid classes fml.
I could see that system working better then the one i proposed, but i still think it would be harder then the one in place right now

Devs make a easy-to-understand character skill set with linear ways : OMG it’s too easy ! I hate that !
Devs make a hard-&-complicated character skill set with 80 or more possibility : OMG, it’s too hard ! I hate that !

Stop whining and Play first, then you will see, it’s all about balancing.
