Theory Crafting + Build Compendium

Interesting, that actually makes it less interesting to go into Sadhu as a Monk, except for the mobility.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like Monk is gonna be one of the trickier classes to figure out. Are there any skill/rank resets planned for ToS or are all choices permanent, skills as well as which class you change to?

I think we won’t have a second chance regarding class change.

For skills, we don’t know, we may have it or not.

Sadhu’s mobility may be really useful to escape/go to other places safely. I agree with Monk being tricky to figure out, being primarly STR make builds somewhat challenging to make. lol

Well, all I know is, that I cannot wait for someone using your build to buff me with Transmit Prana when I use Sunrays Hands for that INT bonus.

That said, I might actually go for a Support Cleric build as well, on launch at least. Unless I get into the next beta and can try to build a Monk. Hope we get word on that soon, I’m really starving for an MMO at the moment…

I am not entirely sure on the Wizard.

Haha me too! I’m not playing MMOs atm and ToS feeds my hope to become a great game.

I wonder if people will go Sadhu C3 to have TransmitPrana (using any build), but I hope so.

Hey guys.
I’m also interested in Thaumaturge and its potential to support and help allies in battle (both PvE and PvP). I hope you guys like it.

Again, I’m sorry for crap name. lol

The Psycho Surgeon
Class Path: Wizard > Wizard > Psychokino > Thaumaturge > Thaumaturge > Thaumaturge.
Link: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/ps37hndhky/

Focus of the build: Equilibrium between support and DPS. Efficient in PvE but your full potential is shown in PvP.

Subject to change.

RANKS
Wizard (C2)

• L5 Energy Bolt: 9 seconds CD, so it’s kinda spammable. Non-elemental magic damage! We need attacks to survive, so Energy Bolt will aid us. This is the only skill in our build you may charge to deal more damage.

• L9 Lethargy: the target will be in lethargic state, which means less damage dealt and less evasion, making them fragile. Allied with a low CD, you can spam it!

• L1 Sleep: just for the effect. Do you want to sleep when you’re almost casting that skill? Probably no, but we want.

• MAX Reflect Shield: let’s say this is another DPS skill because it reflects damage for a period of time or amount of hits. No numbers to help us, but it seems an important defensive skill for mages. About CD, you don’t have to worry about it (41 seconds), but we still don’t know its duration.

• MAX Earthquake: another DPS skill, but earth-based. You cast a circle on the ground and everything inside blows up.

Why not Surespell? Surespell prevents any skill you use to be cancelled for a short amount of time. Only Energy Bolt have cast bar and since you can’t use in on anyone, this skill is inutile to us.

Psychokino (C1)

• MAX Psychic Pressure: AoE damage that ticks every second. This is a powerful skill to be used on people and they stay immobilized! 1m CD.

• MAX Telekinesis: you throw the target anywhere around you and he can do nothing. You can also hit others with this skill. The best part: acceptable CD (24s).

• L4 Swap: you swap position with your target. The higher the level, the further you can use this skill. It’s spammable and you can literally kill mages (and sometimes yourself) by swapping them to the heart of your party. lol

• L1 Teleportation: good and bad news here. The good is: you can teleport! The bad? Anywhere. You don’t know where you’ll land, so be careful. 5s CD, really? Hope you don’t die if you land between 2 enemy nukers.

Thaumaturge (C3)

• MAX Swell Left Arm: for those who want to be more powerful and skillful with left arm ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)…It raises damage, both physical and magic.

• L3 Shrink Body: No one would disappear of the battlefield (sadly). However, we still have some free points and they need go to somewhere. You can make them small to deal less damage, so this may be useful.

• L2 Swell Body: the opposite of Shrink Body. You can make people explode if they grow too much. We don’t know its effects in PvP, but can be useful in certain situations.

• L9 Transpose: this one is very interesting. You temporarily swaps your INT/STR with the enemy in front of you for a limited amount of time. Let’s suppose your enemy have 200 INT and you, 100. Swap it and BAM! Where’s your nuker now? Or you can swap with a STR-based enemy. :stuck_out_tongue: … 2 minutes CD, it’s reasonable. Lol

• L1 (MAX) Reversi: so you cast a LV15 Heal? Let me flip them to our use. This is what Reversi can do. You can ‘flip’ squares and circles from enemy skills to your (and your party) benefit. A considerable amount of skills don’t use squares or circles, so its efficiency is controversial, but healers should watch out. Nevertheless, an interesting skill.

• MAX Swell Right Arm: ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)….Well, left arm increases damage, so right arm increases defense. Good for tanks and shield users.

• MAX Swell Brain: You can benefit from Transpose (swapping your INT with the enemy’s) and your nuker can put Swell Brain to good use. It increases your head, so your INT.

» Except for Shrink Body and Swell Body, all Thaumaturge skills have 2m+ CD. You can’t spam these buffs at will.

CONSIDERATION

» As you can see, a support/DPS build. Your main goal here is to enhance what your party has to offer and be useful at dealing damage. It’s not a nuker, but you’re swift and wise.

WHY PSYCHOKINO?

» My first idea was Linker, however they aren’t efficient in DPS, since it depends on Joint Penalty, a 2m+ CD skill. IMO, if you only support and don’t deal damage, you’re kinda inutile, since Linker/Thaumaturge buffs/debuffs are 2m+ CD. You don’t want to be useful every 2 minutes, right?

• So Psychokino is my choice. You have DPS from Psychic Pressure – Telekinesis, 1 escape skill (Teleportation) and 1 suicidal/escape skill (Swap). Without Psycho, we’d have only 2 damage skills.

Yup totally came up with a build like that, you could have called it the elephant man, or Workout-Bookworm build, you know, big arms, big head… xD

OP has been updated, build of the day changed, I’ll start posting it in the update for ease~

Death Adder - Sharp
Short notes: What’s worse than poison? AoE’s and poison! Watch your enemies rot away from the backlines with this build.

Yeah hahahaha

I’m not that creative with names. :frowning:

@Celov: Just wanted to put a few comments about your build.

You might need more points in there because lv 1 Sleep is only like 3 seconds. (I know this from experience) Otherwise, might as well trash it altogether.

Great choice. I don’t have exact numbers, but I know that lv 5 Reflect Shield’s duration is about 2-5 seconds below its cooldown, (which I’m not sure if it is 41 seconds…I thought it was like 50? CMIIW) so you can cast it again after waiting a couple seconds. Its duration keeps increasing after level 5, so eventually you’ll be able to keep it on forever provided you didn’t exhaust the number of hits. That leads me to my next point, which is how exactly Reflect Shield works. From my observations, the skill reduces incoming damage by a fixed amount and that amount is reflected back to the attacker and it lasts for a certain duration and for a certain amount of hits. (So much and’s I just put there, lmao)

To be honest, I’m not sure what leveling Swap does. At level 1, I could already reach the edge of my screen, so it doesn’t appear to be distance. Maybe this was already changed, who knows.

Another case of “put more points in or trash it altogether”. The distance at level 1 is sooo bad, it literally made me go “wtf, you call that a Teleport?”

I don’t have any comments about Thaumaturge as I have not played the class. Hope my input helps you a little.

@Kiyoshiro - Thank you for your input, especially coming from a tester!

  1. About Sleep. I put 1 point in there only to delay aggressor’s action. I get your point, since leveling Sleep doesn’t increase sleep duration only, but how many attacks before waking up, so its potential could be better explored.

  2. About Reflect Shield. I’m based on TOSBase information about CD, so I’m not sure if it’s correct. It’s great you can recast it almost instantly (considering they won’t change its mechanics :P).

  3. About Swap. :o really? Maybe you can swap more than 1 person at once? lol … We have to wait for more information.

  4. About Teleportation. Hmmm, maybe spending some more points here may solve this. Based on Teleportation video, distance is really short, you can’t salve yourself in the middle of the battlefield. haha

Thanks again! Sadly I can’t change build in TOSBase, I’d change 1) and 4) now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was going to go Monk but I’m pretty sure I will go full circle Sadhu now, If INT is really its main stat. So if anyone wants my Prana XD, you can hit me up in game =P

Here’s my personal build that I’ll most likely be using in ToS. Keep in mind, things can change, especially when the newer ranks are revealed.

Enlightened Billionaire - 4 points were saved at Rank 4, to be used at rank 6. This is not shown in the skill calculator currently.

Note: This build, while viable in PvE, is more PvP centric, and offers support in PvE, as well as tankiness. This build also revolves around having a lot of money to buy buff scrolls from a Pardoner.
You’ll be running all the buffs you possibly can, as you won’t really be picking up any buff/utility based cleric classes. This leads to optimal damage and skills.

Class Selections:
Cleric -> Cleric 2 -> Bokor -> Sadbu -> Sadbu 2 -> Sadbu 3

Why those class selections?

Rank 1: Cleric is the only choice, obviously.

Rank 2.

  • Priest is cool, but the only thing it has going for it is ressurection. Everything else is buffs you’ll be buying off a pardoner.
  • Krivis, same thing. The DPS skills are not worth. Clerics cure/heal/safety zone not only has more utility, but also more heal power, and decent dps.

Rank 3:

  • We don’t need cleric anymore, divine might isn’t worth losing more levels on the 3 skills you really needed, fade is useless, just play smart/have a good team. Patron Saint is bad, your not going to be a tank.
  • Dievdirbys is cool, but no. Constant statue making and statue range is inefficient when grinding. Sure they can silence bosses, but it’s not necessary. With safety zone so high, and heal so high, it really doesn’t matter.
  • Why Bokor? Not only is it amazing in PvP, but also in PvE. I could care less about the zombies, but the skills that do matter are Hexing and Effigy. Why? Hexing stops healing, and decreases magic defense. Basically a healer/tank killer. The cooldowns are insanely low too, and the range is nice.

Rank 4:

  • Why not continue Bokor? Like I said, I don’t care about zombies, and hexing is a utility, while Effigy is a nice clutch since its range is just curse targets from hexing as well as being okay in PvE.
  • What about Paladin? Nah, just buy scrolls from a Pardoner and your good to go. Turn Undead’s cooldown is too high to be very effective for leveling. Conversion is like zombies, inefficient.
  • Sadbu will have necessary skills later on.

Rank 5:

  • Why not Monk? STR based, not your thing.
  • Pardoner? Nah, you’ll buy scrolls of them though.

Rank 6:

  • Oracle? Nah, buy their scrolls though from a Pardoner.
  • Druid? Too situational.

Skill choices:

Rank 1: Cleric
MAX Heal - DPS, and your a healer
MAX Safety Zone - My god this is amazing, you can tank bosses with it, and it’s a great set up for when you go out of body as a Sadbu
MAX Cure - Because deprotected zone doesn’t maximize your dps, thought it can help team dps, at the same time cure can deal damage, and offer debuff.

Rank 2: Cleric
MAX Heal - Maximizing our heal potential again here.
MAX Safety Zone - Same as above.
MAX Cure - Same as above.

Rank 3: Bokor
MAX Hexing - My god, disable someones heal? You know how many healers there are in this game? Not only that, it’s recovery for anyone, and lowers their M. Defense. Combo’s well with Effigy.
MAX Effigy - Clutch damage, hit from practically anywhere if your target is cursed. 3 Effigies = more damage, hell yeah.
MAX Tet Mamak La - Because you have skill points to spend, and zombies might help in PvE… maybe.
4/5 Zombify - Because you can.

Rank 4: Sadbu 4 SP saved for Rank 6, not currently shown in skill calc
MAX Out of Body - Your primary movement skill, and semi-immortality skill.
MAX Praktiri - Only needs one point, it’s 9s CD means you can screen jump twice any direction. CD can be reduced by alch pots.
0/5 Astral Body Explosion - Long CD, small aoe, not worth.
MAX Vashiti Siddhi - Lower everyone’s stats? Super important, especially in PvP. You can combo it with safety zone. Use Out of Body to screen jump to your enemies, drop Safety Zone, before the second Out of Body, then massively debuff everyone in the safety zone. Count on your team to finish the jobs on your massively weakened opponents.

Rank 5: Sadbu 2
MAX previous skills.
MAX possession - It’s a root, that deals damage at the same time. You can use the Vashiti Siddhi combo, listed above in 1v1’s/small fights. Heck you can drop a hex on someone to lower their defense, disable recovery, then safety zone, and possess them and watch them as they sit their and die without so much as a twitch.

Rank 6: Sadbu 3
MAX Previous skills.
4/5 Transmit Prana - Hey you can support too! Help a monk shoot a sunray or an elementalist go nuts.

Looks like we will be Prana Pals

Does anyone know if magic attacks need hit? Can they miss if aimed at a target with high flee or do they hit all the time?

i read somewhere or in steparu page that mention about magic attack can miss if targeted to the target with high dodge/def stat… CMIIW

Nice, I have kinda ignored Bokor so it’s nice that u pointed out a good combination .
If I were u, I would leave Cure at L5 and go for DM L5 for more versatility. Cure is good for PvE, but in PvP it can be countered by Thaumaturge’s Reversi

Sweet build there, Bokor’s Hexing effect is nasty!

Another one to join Sadhus. :smile_cat:

I’m not sure about DM, first I need to know a couple things:

  1. How many levels does it add to a skill?
  2. How long does it last? The very next skill only?
  3. Can Pardoner make a DM scroll?

For the most part I leveled cure assuming it’d deal more damage/cure higher level ailments. Not so much for PvP, but more so for PvE because from Rank 1 + 2, you won’t have any damaging skills besides heal + cure, both with fairly low CD’s. It might be a dangerous skill in PvP due to reversi, or the rogue’s ability to steal tiles.

@ 2,
You cast the tile, walk over it and obtain the buff. After you get the buff, the next skill you cast gets boosted by DM.
No idea if it has a duration.

Ive only seen a max DM boosted max Heal. The difference in healing wasnonly about 1/5 extra.

Thats most of my knowledge :stuck_out_tongue:
