Would you get hyped again if the founders found the game to be better than ever? Or will this whole situation have ruined it for you? Genuine question.
Well if just the price is the issue. It may become a non issue. When selling things on steam the Developers can choose regional pricing and the price adjust to the region accordingly.
If IMC does that or not well have to wait and see.
Iâm for the announcement is perfectly fine. I like what they did. It pleased me to see them being upfront and finally giving us dates. Iâm not worried about saving money for something Iâll enjoy.
âAlright!! Finally, I can playâ
I had the same response, except followed by, âBullocks, my wallet is a bit dry atm, oh well!â
However, I can understand worries, fears, and general dislike of the announcement. However, it is still an open beta. Anyone who has interest and can pay has the ability to join. Itâd become a closed beta only when they limit players by invitation, or by NDAs, ect.
Someone not wanting to spend money isnât making it a CBT again. With this, we are speaking in a consumer market too, if people donât pay, that talks, and that voice is immense. Continuing, I value and respect the opinion of someone who wants more transparency, information, and communication before spending their money.
Lastly, I do hope people have a good head about them and respect other opinions instead of flaming, raging, and acting like generally silly people. Thanks for keeping your head afloat and the topic at hand @Apple_Cider!
I canât say milking the hype is inherently a negative thing, the way they have gone about it though is very disappointing indeed
I think this is a cash grab and most of the supporters are on denial for sure.
No problem in asking for a fee to pay the game early, and if the problem are bots and server capacity I understand that this can be a way to deal with those problems.
But why 50 USD? No one can answer me this, there is no reason for this value. Besides, 3 months delay is a absurd, and I think is part of a famine tactic ( which is dirty and low ) to push players to buy their package.
Most of players are buying because they canât stand waiting for 90 days until be able to play this game, mostly ppl that doesnât played at CBT or CBT2.
If they were to be honest and still tackle the problem with bots and server capacity + wanting to earn money, they could be decent and put a 45 days delay plus giving a basic/cheap option for those less fortunate.
A honest and decent way to do this:
03.16 - Avaible on Steam to buy.
03.22 - Founder Server Opening
05.06 - Free Open Beta
Packs for Founder Server:
- 5.00 USD - Basic Pack. No bonus at all ( Is able to play from the go )
- 15.00 USD - VIP Standard Pack. +25% EXP + Starting items.
- 30.00 USD - VIP Silver Pack. +50% EXP + Starting items + Cash
- 50.00 USD - VIP Gold Pack. +100% EXP + Starting items + Cash++
- 25.00 USD - Delayed VIP Gold Pack. +100% EXP + Starting items ( Only available at 04.08 )
There is no excuse for what they are doing, who is supporting this is acting against the community and fellow players. This will only give the publisher ground to keep doing this with other games in the future!
personally i think im going to avoid this founders pack because its a bad deal.
i already played icbt2 so i dont need to test anything as long as i get new patch info.
but im sure all IMC needs to do is post one video of the ânew and improvedâ tos to get the hype up again. people will start to think âhey maybe 50$ is worth thisâ
but no, their FRONT PAGE is BLANK. U CLICK THEIR HOME PAGE AND ITS EMPTY AF. how is this good advertising? its more like a message saying:
âTHIS GAME IS DEADâ
if you check their last post itâs what a month ago? how does this supposed to make us feel about imcâs attitude?
Well, yes, is not a bad thing if done properly. They could have added a non TP early access option or something of the sort that everyone can afford so it doesnât spit on them when they thought they were going to have IOBT this month. Sadly, they took the worst course of action and now this is happening. They really need to reach out to their customers asap.
That why i have 3 accounts
I completely agree with most of the points youâve made. The one I have to nitpick on is the speculation about their motives. Unfortunately due to the lack of communication between us and them, they could have a completely legitimate excuse for the price that we donât know about. Best to err on the side of caution though, and save your money until you have facts to back your wallet up.
My main strife with this is the huge time gap and itâs implications on the community.
-
This time gap will, without a doubt, break up guild or create sub-groups in them.
-
A 3 month time gap is really way more than anyone could expect and itâs getting IMC a lot of flak for it.
-
Non-founders will most likely hope iToS does well enough with the founders support to justify opening another server so they can star fresh, ignoring the âfounderâs serverâ; which in turn hurts the founders themselves.
-
It killed a lot of hype instead of heightening it for some some quick cash. As I said in another post, Iâm 100% sure the guys whoâll pay the $50 now would still pay them if all the payment brackets started at the same time in a later date (like 3 weeks - 1 month early).
-
Even though the forum community had itâs little skirmishes over dumb â â â â , this actually divided it. The ToS crowd is not as big as other games, and giving it a reason to segregate a sub-section (which is nearly half) of it simply because of a poorly planned announcement with rushed changes (and if theyâre not, than Iâm sorry, but thatâs what it seems to the player base) doesnât sound like a good move for the health of this project.
Also, kudos to @Apple_Cider for providing a place for educated discussion on this controversial topic.
Thatâs an interesting point unto itself, which is as much IMCâs fault as it is each individual playerâs fault. This thread was an attempt at sewing together at least bits and pieces of each side so we can actually offer real criticisms without the name calling.
I will say that IMC could stand to hire a PR firm.
They stated their motives on the announcement, Iâll get it for you ASAP.
While you wait, check my post and answer the poll.

Continuing the discussion from Announcement on Founder's Server and the Future Schedules:
You probable miss this because the announcement was flagged. But here you go, IMC official statement on why you should pay 50 USD.
Even on that statement, as I said before in another thread gold sellers and bots donât give a damn about this. They will still play the game with duped credit cards or just buy them asap anyway, you can make 50 usd in like 1 hour with 12 accounts in world of warcraft⌠gold sellers are pretty much rich. Not to mention the fact that WoW is way more expensive than what tos will be.
Itâs a pretty bad way to advertise the 50$.
Not a very appealing price for what theyâre offering is it? I would ask them about it and why they would choose to do something like this, but if I could we wouldnât be having this discussion.
They really should have focused on the boon of a truly stabilized environment, without the load of tens of thousands of players all logging in at the same time. That, and first dibs on names
.
Weâll see how stable it truly is come the 22nd.
Yeah, pretty much, they kinda also forget that in the past ICBT2 half of the playerbase was south american, if I recall correctly and most of them arenât willing to pay $50 for something that small. Itâs like they are boycotting their own game.
Even then, I hope they announce something before the 22nd.
They could have done a lot in various ways, but decided to use this very model. So instead calling them stupid and judging for their decision, we could think about their intentions whether they are reasonable or not.
Thats the only reason IMC allowed John to actually spread. Itâs really sad IMC expecting us to be mindless mice not being able to comprehend the whole truth >,>
Just one thing is clear. There is a communication wall between the people of IMC in charge and the community affected by their decisions. The admins here are just community administrators executing the orders they receive from the higher ups (and forwarding important things we rant about heavily)
So to overcome this wall, we need to cooperate with the staff. And to cooperate with the staff, we need to forward a petition to them. The petition should only contain realistic suggestions ofc. Nobody will go through all these posts trying to locate the common census. We need to do that.
This is actually no excuse for you to buy the game. Like ehrgein said, botters donât care about the cost of the game. They will get in there and bot, so thereâs no point to it.
but going back to the overall talk about the announcement. This marketing was very immature. It is indeed a cash grab in order to make up for their mistake in KR. Also, that rumor of having to use TP in order to LIST items into the marketplace is making it even iffy.
Overall, imo, the problem is the whole thing itself. Players can have the option to transfer servers. The chance that they will give this option to players to Xfer servers is pretty much 60/40. There could be (will be) a huge in game economic disruption. I for one will not want a level 280 roaming around the server and being a â â â â . Also, this will take away the competitive leveling. Who wouldnât want to be worldâs first highest level? Honestly, this whole ordeal should had been AFTER the OBT rather than before. But because theyâre doing it like this now, OBT is obsolete and should be renamed or noted as RELEASE.
o btw. expect a FF14 move. meaning. expect a public apology from the developer.
I really hope thatâll happen before the playerbase actually manage to shut the game down like their trying to on steam
