The Core Issue at Play

I know a lot of people are freaking out about this but the truth is the game doesn’t really need an open beta period. The last closed beta which was actually more like an open beta covered the stress testing that an open beta provides. I think the only thing that would be gained by an open beta here is fixes in translation.

Regardless of the above access to the server is fairly cheap in comparison to other mmos that get released and even though it’s a free game the developers need to pull revenue or you won’t have a game. I’ll be paying to play because I’ve been excited about the game and if I didn’t spend $50 now I probably will/would have down the line.

this is it.

to those who can pay 50$ and brag about it, guess what, anyone can do that.
we were promised open beta, and yet its delayed 3 months. that hurts.

its not “open” when its limited by something like money.

no communication except 1 post after 1 month. no guarantee on a bug-less game. its a cash grab, but its hurting everyone. even imc

Not much of a counter argument as they had the systems working properly before then decided to limit them for the token system (easily undone)

And gvg im pretty sure was changed due to the drama on KToS which i agreed needed a fix but there were better ways to fix it that were equally easy.

But when they make changes i like then they will have my money, and no sooner.

If they blew the budget by making changes i dislike and somehow cant afford these simple fixes, well thats tough. your mistakes costing you is what forces you to learn and improve.

I would say denial. They misled users and basically preyed on their hopes and excitement to grab money out of them. This is really not a good way to gauge interest. In fact, I would argue that this has even cost some users their interest to begin with. Three months head start is a joke. I like to gamble, but I don’t toss my money into games that are incredibly rigged. Until IMC responds, give appropriate and thoughtful information to the community, I’ll hold onto my $50.00.

I have no intention of supporting something so sleazy. To let consumers think that they were going to have a chance to play, only to put up a paywall at the last minute is an awful business practice. Given how poor this game is doing in Korean, IMC really can’t afford these kinds of mistakes. They better rectify soon, or Tree of Savior is going to be in some serious trouble.

I’ve decided to give them my $50 as well, but only in support of the game, not the company. If they wish to keep me as an active player for potential cash shop purchases, they’re going to have to work on the issues laid out in this thread.

My question for you is can you understand why others would be upset at such a sudden change in direction?

well it wasn’t delayed as they never promised you a date. So OBT was not delayed you just dislike the date in this scenario.

This is commendable, and I respect this choice immensely. I’m of the mind that I need to make the decision on whether the game was worth the money on my own though. It’s just the kind of fool I am. (and the fact that I have steam wallet funds gathering dust from TF2 trading days)

Then the game will be better after few patches. Why nobody see that like you?
@Apple_Cider you already said what needed to be. I just make it clear.

True, but this is still speculation, right? I understand the implications of such a system in Korea, but there is always opportunity for them to rectify these changes for the international release. It loops back to the lack of communication. A serious issue.

Thats why im still here on the forums, if there wasn’t i would already be gone.

This has been informative for me. We’ve been hearing plenty of what IMC is doing wrong though, I would like to hear your thoughts on what they are doing correctly, if anything.

From what I’ve read people seem upset because they believe that the open beta does not start until June. From my understanding of the post this early access will be the start of iToS and in June everyone will be able to play for free.

My counter to this would be if you were given 2 weeks of “open beta” then there was a wipe and you had to wait 3 months for the free version of the game to come out while others enjoyed the “founders server” would this quell the rage? Keep in mind prices as laid out would stay the same. My guess would be people would still be outraged.

I believe people are most upset with the fact that there is a price to play the game now vs later and that’s all this really boils down to.

I respect the thread but I don’t think this will have enough of an impact to change decisions about the game going forward.

Well on KToS they have been going hard on trying to get classes balanced, failing but trying.

The only thing stopping me from opting into this early access is that there is no guarantee on how populated the server would be for Founders. Where would the population stand after a couple of months? Once new servers open up for everybody else would the founder’s server die off? New players wouldn’t want to start on a server where people has already had a 3 month head start. So rather than spending 3 months grinding just to start over with everyone else, I will just wait.

yea you’re right. my bad in wording it. it’s just that the game is done. it can be played just fine as of march 22. it still has bugs but what game doesnt? even League of legends still has bugs.
to most people soon does not mean 3 months.

i did predict 1-2 month opening after the date announcement. and i said id be pissed if it was 2 months, but i am not surprised. 3 months, im pissed off.

when something makes no sense it just seems insane, it really pisses me off.
you could call it a pet peeve.

If it were handled as this has been handled then absolutely, perhaps even more so due to getting that initial taste. If they were to announce such an event a month before-hand though, what right would anyone have to complain?

The thread was more for the benefit of those who actually wanted a medium to express their concerns. I doubt IMC is going to drop this shitty attitude of theirs for little ol’ me.

That’s a start at the very least. I can imagine it would be much easier to do balancing when the game is in full fledged open beta mode, as people wouldn’t have to spend their time wisely across builds.

IMC sucks badly at communication that’s a given. They said they were busy with KToS but to me that is simply an excuse for the huge gaps they left without saying a single thing.

Money wise it depends on your point of view really, most people if not all that live in the North American part will believe this isn’t an issue. Now most people if not all that live somewhere else where the dollar ratings are absurd right now will definitely see this as a something game breaking. The people that say “you can’t afford, just wait it out” is most likely those that can afford the $50.
As far as “step in the right direction” goes, to me they already have KToS out. Unless they release something saying they are either rich or going broke, saying “they need the money or they don’t” is just mere speculation.

In sum, the plain lack of communication, posts, messages, news from IMC itself is what causing all this ruckus

they had the hype going so that was good. then they fked it over.

They are just milking the hype, that’s it. Whether you like it or not that’s the true.
The game MIGHT be better after a few patches, Blizzard realized that it was either fix it or the game was dead as hell. Take wow as an another example, almost 60% of the playerbase left in the last expansion and suddenly they are all back with the new expansion (well, most of them) because they kinda learnt of their mistakes. IMC has showed no signs of it as of now, so that’s why everyone is upset. Why can’t you see it? Take aside the price of the game and realize that the communication between IMC and us is awful.
