Everyone here has spent the last few hours tearing each other apart due to the founder’s server announcement. I’d like to offer a civil discussion on what IMC is doing wrong, and what they’re doing right.
I believe the CORE reason we are seeing as much of a backlash as we are is because of IMC’s decision to ignore it’s community without so much as an off the record apology. I’ve been watching this shitfest unfold, and I think I can safely say that most people don’t believe that the cost is the issue; instead they’re thinking about the underhanded business tactics used to push the costs on those who have been loyal for a long time.
On the other hand, I believe that charging money for the game is a step in the right direction, as it will give IMC more breathing room when it comes to updates, and allow them to generate a more accurate representation of their player base.
If you think I’m completely right or wrong, please elaborate in a sensible manner so that everyone - IMC Included - might come to learn a thing or two without the needless shitflinging that has been going on by the more radical members of these forums.
Friendly reminder that flagging is meant for real misconduct, let’s keep it civil.
What’s Right
-
The gameplay is still pretty much what it was in iCBT2, albeit with less highlander spam
-
The art direction, and soundtrack of course
-
Charging for early access affords them a smaller “stress test”, making it easier to polish the game for when it goes F2P
-
The game itself has come out very quickly in comparison to many MMOs we see developed
What’s Wrong
-
The underhanded business model easily used to turn the hype for the game into a cash grab
-
The high cost for a game that hasn’t even been released yet
-
The lack of necessary changes to core gameplay mechanics, or reversing progress on said mechanics, such as GvG, Open world grinding, and class rebalancing
-
ABSOLUTELY ZERO ATTEMPTS TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE PLAYER BASE
-
The division of the community through separate launch dates, and differing opinions on the situation as a whole.
-
Website could use a little more care
-
Soon ™ ceased to be a meme and is now a nightmarish reality
