it’d be cool if swordsman/peltasta had an attribute to shift durability damage onto your shield, then you could just grab a few extra to take with you.
Thats a pretty funny yet practical solution.
I think that is a great idea.
C1 Pelt Hoplite here, and I agree with this idea. Some form of durability loss mitigation would be great for melee classes in general. In grinding groups I have to taunt and herd mobs nicely for the DPS classes to place their AOE zones, and not only do I not get most of the silver, I also get a SILVER SINK in repairs. Do not want.
This is especially egregious when partying with archers who don’t wait before spamming their AOEs, pull aggro, and THEN run around like headless chickens.
There is always an option to upgrade lower level armor to save on repairs later. Not sure why it is overlooked so often.
Also squire repair shops while might look pricey they increase durability of item above the limit allowing you to grind/get hit more.
It’s quite strange you say that while also saying this
You know there are more to tank than wasting 3 skills in a circle just to get swashbuckling right? Maybe people just don’t like to go peltasta?
I myself also played various DPS classes in CBT2, and none ended up with 2x gladiator bands, and I do fine with my DPS as well. Why do you keep insisting on getting end game item on DPS?
Upgrade the armor usually doesn’t worth it. A high level armor has about 8-10 more def than the lower one. And upgrade low level ones to +8-+10 usually cost a humongous amount.
Squire repair shop is all nice and stuff if it doesn’t charge 3x the NPC price for a flat +10 durability. As higher level the armor goes, more natural durability it gets, that flat +10 get less efficient, but the price rises
Casual mindset. I’m done~
Upgrading armor/bracelets/necklace doesnt give +1 only anymore so it is much more viable now compared to CBT.
For example:
I will honestly never understand why they find it necessary to put durability on items in games. It’s annoying having to repair it every dungeon run.
It is a nice currency sink system.
Can’t stand your logic thrown at you? Playing tank = casual, playing DPS = competitive?
They should just increase the durability of items by 30% and increase the blacksmithing costs by like 50%. Yes, you’re paying more, but it’d be so, so worth it. Having to constantly carry 2 sets is a pain in the butt as it eats up a LOT of weight (I’m looking at you, 900 weight chest pieces).
Nah. It’s the casual mindset that they think they are doing great w/o end-game gears. Typical.
My 180er Paladin use Valia+170er Shield and Top and i pay 10k too
Hmm. You cant use that argument while also saying dps have more expensive gears then tanks or healers. Because that only holds true for a casual mindset.
For endgame gear, which do you think requires higher upgraded armor and accessories, dps or tanks? And how expensive do you think that is?
I appreciate your point of view from the endgame dps mindset, but you have to realise it isnt cheap for anyone else either. That’s just ignoring the other perspectives.
The thing is, even upgraded armor is necessary for DPS to prevent getting OHKO’d, you can’t use that as an argument that tanks does spend more because it’s the same case for DPS.
What’s true to all MMOs is that usually, it’s the DPS gears that gets ridiculously expensive because of the demand. There’s too many DPS fighting for the same gear that it makes the price bloat. Again, something tanks would never relate to.
The argument is both tank and DPS spend the same on armor and upgrade (only you say DPS spend more), but tank also need to spend more on REPAIR.

[/quote]Again? Supply and demand. There are many paths to build DPS, as well as tank. Right now I don’t see anything that get ridiculously expensive beyond other alternative, except the gladiator band, which is needed by both tank and DPS, because it is the best in the slot.
That’s impossible I have the exact same set up with lower lvl 75 or lower bracelets and amulet and I pay 7,500 per repair at level 185.
Cafrisun, Valia and Arden with a Magas Sword. Pre Magas sword I still paid 5,000 ish.
buy aukuras scrolls in the market xD or barrier scrolls
Whatever floats your boat. In the end, it will be always the same case as other MMOs where gearing DPS classes will be tons more expensive than gearing a tank.
Also, as someone noted here and same as my personal experience. An evade build tank does not necessarily need to keep repairing unlike brainless facetank builds who only knows to press letter C even against magic mobs.
I myself have an evade-built tank back on CBT2 and I don’t need to keep going back to town just to repair after a single run. My gears are all cloth type so I am naturally tanky against magic while I just dodge/block most physical attacks. 99% tanks are just brainlessly tanking magic mobs when you don’t even need to, not to mention, they keep trying to block the magic attacks using letter C which is stupid.
