What’s the optimal SR build with rank 9?
Rogue 2?
Appraiser?

With the new cd’s on [retreat shot] and [marching fire] being 30s each, I find I don’t pistol C as often. With bm’s [full metal jacket] and [napalm bullet] having 20s cd’s an Se3-Bm wouldn’t need to C even more. So how about a non [limacon] SR? I have 4 archers and I’m already happy with A3-Sc1-App-Sr3-Ha1.
A1-Qs3-App-Sr3-Bm
Qs3 will come with portable walls so you can [retreat shot] in place (if you don’t mind the dismount). [running shot] can work with [DGS] for bossing.
Just to second this while I was levelibg my ex-main SR toon
I did feel a HUGE difference with the gameplay. While they did “nerf” Limacon by adding 20 sp per shot with the attrib (nothing SP pot can’t fix anyway), I also did feel I used Retreat shot more often and the buffed Marching Fire’s AoE cone! Now that’s 2 strong AoE skills on very short CDs. On top of that Marching Fire will be getting an enhance attribute soon too!
I am starting to believe that the goal of Limacon’s “nerf” is to somehow switch SR’s braindead gameplay (spamming one button) to something that actually starts to feel like a class with skill rotation.
Before today, I was seriously planning to ditch my SR as it felt lackluster to me lately. But I guess imma keep the class I first loved in this game <3
…and I know it’s either Rogue 2 or App-BM1 variant
I will just go with the App-BM1 variant since my Aspana is +13
Just for sharing, my build that I recommend people to try is:
Archer 2 Ranger 2 Appraiser SR 3 BM1
Edit: just noticed we do have the Marching Fire Enhance attrib now!
what skill did you all level for app bm 1 variant?
Identify (duh)
Overestimate (+3 refine for pistol)
Devalution (Gona get nerfed soon so maybe not as high priority now)
Blindside (except awkward delay in animation pretty good skill both dmg and utility)
Forge (Only if you do not want to use your accesories :))

i was asking for bm1 skill.
Why not tase?
Tase is decent but only use is Bosses or Elites
So 1 point (and 3 round magazine atribute) is enough
Just to fix some wrong info that it seems to be spreading around >_<
You don’t lose your own accessories effects when sharing them with Appraiser. You just can’t use the Forgery yourself.
Good to know
Wow, is this really the general understanding for [forgery]?
is SR still a viable PvE class? and is it still the best archer aoe dps?
best archer AOE DPS never was a SR3 (R7 era sr2 retreat+meltis yes). sapper3falc3mergen do much much better in AOE DPS than SR3
i made a sapper3falc3mergen, and althought i dont have equipts or attributes, i feel like its a bit lackluster?
punji does alot of dmg but it takes 3 sec, sooo its pretty useless while you’re aggroing a mob. claymore is meh. broom trap is nice but it doesnt hit flying (is there an attribute for that?).
all for 3 circles…
falc is good.
but mergen is lackluster. usually there are more mobs than the mergen skills can hit.
also should i go full dex/str/mix? since im not autoing i thought i would go full str…
Seems like the mana drain is quite significant, at least in my experience. How is everyone dealing with it?
Around 20 sp per shot. It is quite draining. I invested 30 SPR and use arcane energy scrolls if I plan on doing long battle (farming, dungeons, and questing). With that, I have around 4k SP.
Personally, I think adding sp cost per shot to Limacon is fair. I’m always disturbed by the fact that every archer and marksman in TOS doesn’t use bullet and arrow (except for fletcher). Now, I can pretend that I have “arcane bullets” that can hit multiple target per shot
(although I was hoping for fewer SP per shot, around 10-15 per shot).
On low populated map, SP consumption is not efficient because most of SR skills have wide AoE and we will drain a lot of SP if we use Limacon all the time. I haven’t tried new maps yet, so I don’t know how SR will perform on higher maps. But in general, PVE is still viable, it’s just more expensive. We have to bring at least 30 bottles of SP potion.
Combat-wise, now I use marching fire and retreat shot more often than before. My SR is A2-R3-SR3-BM1 so I have a lot of skills in rotation. Sadly, Ranger’s skill damage use main hand as base calculation so marching fire, Retreat shot, and Caracole deal higher damage than barrage and split arrow (maybe because I lack the fund to invest in crossbow).
I tried lv2 [limacon]
40/35 sec duration so still 100% uptime
4 base cost + 3 attribute for 7sp per shot
Even then I still don’t even use it much if I don’t have to. [marching fire] and [retreat shot] are really enough.
I use %SP recovery purple cards because I only farm specific mobs for the new materials. Use dark recovery card (specter monarch) if you farm at Narvas Temple. Use ice recovery card (carapace) if you farm at the coastal maps.
The %proc stacks but the amount recovered does not. Example 3 cards = 30% to recover 5% SP. 1 card = 10% chance to recover 5% SP.
Whether the card investment is worth, is up to you. My cards are leftovers from scout3 0cd splitarrow days.
Can anyone give me advice on this sample build if I am not going the appraiser route. Thanks

You may want to consider Rogue1 instead of Ranger2.
Pros:
Cons:
Here are the builds I’ve tried that “flow”: app-hack1, rogue2, Qs3-Bm1
app-hack
This is a crit debuff build (20 from [blindside] 40 from [cavalry charge]) with a huge debuff from [devaluation].
ro2
This is purely [sneakhit]. Pretty straight forward.
Qs3-Bm1
We can’t use this yet since DGS still cancels on skill use from a lot of skills. Basically this doesn’t use [limacon].
