[RANT] who tf told swordies to be dps?

its going to be super funny when…

A: They add taunt to one of the Swordie DPS classes.
B: They add a taunt to any other class tree.
C: They nerf taunt in general to make it matter less.
D: They Buff swordies to deal good damage if built for pure DPS.

Then ill laugh as every pelt 1 swordie rerolls

quite bothersome but i think its possible since IMC gets feedbacks from players if they will address the pel1 problem they just might do add a taunt skill to swordman class with a risk maybe so that pel1 taunting capability wont be overshadowed but that’s just a thought lol.

or not reroll and get 2 taunts

I think Matador has a pretty good chance of getting a directional taunt.

that would be great. probably their time will come soon. but for now, we’re having a great time laughing at those kiritos who think they’ll be dealing OP damage with their sw 2 builds when there aren’t even much room for them at grinding parties.

Barb > Fencer, Pelt is still better. Guardian Attribute, swash HP.
Barb > Doppel, Highlander is still better. 2H Sword mastery outshadows a 15 more damage gungho, then you get cartar stroke, something very important for doppel builds since they lack strong strike types. Cross Guard also comes in handy if you’re high str

Restrain on sword 2 is half baked, and majority that took sword 2 don’t even use it when grinding. Sword 2 is ■■■■ on pve.

there wont probably new kiritos anymore, if you’ll visit newbie grounds you’ll see that there are 2 swords out of 10 players and… who knows some are probably trainers now

I dunno, peltasta will probably remain relevant forever just because of the swashbuckling attribute (+25% hp) and the guardian attribute (+18% eva). Even if you get a better taunt down the line as a tank (let’s say they implement one on matador for exemple), the extra hp and evasion is forever great.

My logic for sw3Hl3shinobi is this. Bunshin only copy swordie skills, so basically thrust and double slash. HL can bleed and stagger, which gives those 2 abilities huge bonuses. I’m a STR build so I can use cross guard effectively for stagger, and my bleed does decent damage too, since those both scale from STR. Pain barrier and restrain at max level are both very good buffs (especially for pvp) that never fall off like attacks do, and the same goes for many utility based HL skills like armor break/shock.

If we get the KToS infinite skyliner, that too will be amazing damage against bleeding targets, since its already good with a cooldown. I expect to be top tier for world bosses, falling behind only musketeer, maybe. From what I hear musketeer is getting a nerf and swordies are getting a buff, so honestly Shinobi might be the best burst dmg in the game soon, idk. Fingers crossed.

We’re not on the same page anymore, I’m only talking about sword 2 as a rank 2 choice which apparently many newbies take because of “level 10 gungho” and “level 10 concentrate”.

If they plan on making a pvp build into sword 3 in the future sure, but ask around when you’re in missions and you see sword 2, they’ll say they took it for buffs. They probably read some outdated guides there which made them do that.

And yes, pain barrier is good, no arguments on that, it’s my most used Swordsman buff. Gungho and concentrate are a waste of buff slots

yeah I guess I didn’t understand that u meant specificly ppl going just swordie 2 for pve purposes. I know that’s basically what u said but I got the feeling (probably from your flame title) that u meant all DPS swordies.

I don’t even take gung ho or concentrate because they not only fall off (especially concentrate), but they also take up a buff slot that eventually becomes pretty valuable unless u have a krivis on your team.

Noobs will be noobs. Owell

Sometimes there are chances to see what a game’s developer thinks is important for their players’ experience.
Removing noob trap items was important for one of the games I used to play.

In tree of savior there are a lot of noob traps, that are allowed to exist by tos game developers. Gear, class build and stat allocation all can be misleading to unresearched players. The penalty for falling for a noob trap can result in fustration for players and hundreds of hours of wasted gameplay. Not everyone has to have the same wizard/cleric/archer/swordsman builds but there are successful ways of character building and there are poor/terrible ways. Tos game developers should make it a point of emphasis everyday to clean up the noob trap mistakes they’ve programmed into the game and reduce the number of “lost cause” build paths. And in general they should address things that frustrate players the most and things that make players quit.

Why does swordsman2 exist in its current state? If a player takes it they’ve made a huge blunder. That is by definition a noob trap. Be creative, test solutions, get player feedback and fix it.

Pelt swash is very good for farming because of the way the monsters are laid out on the maps. Without swash, even with provoke turned on I can only aggro five maybe six monsters to get them to follow. Pelt c1 swash doubles this. I personally wish they look into expanding the monster leashing and aggro count especially if the monster’s attention was triggered from taking damage.

Also people like to ask for increased mob density or spawn rate. I’d like to see this go into testing. However greater mob density might make it harder for fragile, cooldown reliant, low damage or slow move speed classes to do quests and get around the map. Honestly the latency, lag, and server performance in this game is bad for a lot of players. Rubberbanding through an increased density mob will result in a lot of damage.

There are a lot of good things about swordsman, I vote the best part is getting to use a controller and preventing wrist injury. The parts of swordsman that need to be cleaned up, can be done easy enough but it is up to the game developers to do it.

Hmm…

These aren’t the topics that I like to get involved in. But, it makes me wonder, especially if the game states merging in the coming month revert the Highlander nerf (I’m fairly pessimistic about this), if things like this would ever happen in iTOS (click).

practically sums up what a lot of people in this thread have been missing out.

Excuse me but… Is there players still complaining about swordmans on their team with sw2 instead of h1 ?
Who care ? Will you really kick a guy from the team because of that ?
If a swordman want DPS, taking pelt1,h1 or sw2 will not really change anything at the end don’t you know ?
What next ? Will you kick from team swordman using cloth instead of plate ?

Useless topic really

Don’t forget the manual block and +25% block. But ya, I don’t see any way peltasta will become bad UNLESS they take out swashbuckling from peltasta and give it to swordsman and buff swordsman so that concentrate and gungho become beasts.

Let’s wait and see guys!

Swordsman 2 isn’t too bad for a PvP build tbh. Let’s see what it gives:

20% chance to stun for 1 second. 20% chance to slow for 12 seconds. (great in PvE and PvP, percentage scaling so will always be good)

20 hits concentrate. This gives +119 damage to each hit, bypassing enemy defense. Even if you hit 1 damage on a high level mob, that becomes 120. Currently concentrate is great at low levels, but slowly fizz out cuz flat damage is flat damage. there is no scaling and it takes up a buff slot.

lv10 pain barrier. This gives you 24s duration with 39s cooldown. Actual downtime is like 15s. In the future pain barrier is buffed to have 30% cc resistance as well IIRC.

If you compare this to peltasta then peltasta probably wins out overall, but if you compare it to hoplite or barbarian or highlander then it’s a tossup. For PvP swordsman 2 is still great.

dont forget that going sw 2 only gives you additional +8 damage from concentrate and +15 from gung ho. most of the damage comes from the attributes
