This is my current Skill Point destribution. Im more or less done with testing, will probably be my final build.
For the other question regarding Pistol Shot. im not 100% sure but i think it isnt affected by AoE.
So I’m not very knowledgeable about swordsman but I’m building a field farmer for silver and mat hunting and could use some input.
Currently going with this:
SW3>Hoplite 1>Corsair3>Doppel
Hoplite doesn’t seem very popular anymore but I like it even at rank 1. Hard to get crit rate now so finestra +100 seems solid and I figure I’ll have a spear and pistol and a spear and shield on weapon swap, the increased block chance is nice. And has anyone tried Synchro Thrusting since the combat change? With the attribute it is a crazy nuke when the counterattack whatever triggers, and still pretty huge when it doesn’t, and that’s just at 5 points.
Doppel for double pay earn. Since I’m mainly concerned about field farming I left pain barrier at 1 point, still 2/3rds uptime when needed so seems ok and lets me max out gung ho and concentrate. Restrain seems pretty useless pve wise unless theres’s something I don’t know?.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome, thanks folks.

I am actually more curious with the cors3 skill distribution that’s why I asked yours, those 15 points in spare:
- Have you picked iron hook for PVP? Or is there a PVE reason for it?
- JR works with Missile (Pistol shot? I guess), any reason you went only 2pts on it?

You may want to consider changing “Hoplite” into either “Barb = for cleave critrate and stuns” or “Pelt = swashbuck/and some pdef/EVA”. I’m using barb right now but still not counting out the pelt version.
I have maxed PB, Doubleslash, Concentrate and restrain. I am tagging @SlyGoat here to provide some inputs (if you may Sir), regarding going Max PB(defensive) for a late game oriented farmer vs GungHo for additional dmg.

Well i have thought long about those two skills JR and Hook. But i think JR is indeed nice, but only buffs ur Pistol Shot. The differece is about 30% between lvl 2 and lvl 15. Iron Hook gives me more utility. For ET purpose im more a support CC and this fits my style more.

I put Pelt in my build and use Guardian, so I can’t use Gung Ho anyway. I think I would prefer max PB anyway, unless they end up removing knockbacks from mobs like they did with freezes/sleeps, but even then it’s basically essential against bosses. If you go full STR maybe you take Gung Ho over Concentrate instead. Or, possibly, you go max both and don’t bother with Restrain if you’re pure PVE. For pure PVE full STR you can also neglect Iron Hook and invest in Jolly Roger + Double Weapon Assault, you’ll probably be able to do some decent damage with Gung Ho + Concentrate 15 on DWA.
Congrats. I’m really debating between investing in a 315 orange or just trying to get a 4 slot purple HG sword. The orange sword stats don’t really thrill me, plus if R9 is coming this summer it’ll be replaced soon anyway.
wow, you really haven’t changed your gears that much? How are you holding up on 315 with those armors (i see you Vitrov leather and windrunner)… are you using those on HG300? 
I guess my question next is what are your armor sets (incase you have another set). And tips on soloing HG300

Thanks again for the inputs. well mobs in 140 still have sleep and freeze (must be on dungeons only then). Good point on getting no restrain for PVE and place it on Gung Ho instead, I’m not sure if this will affect my skill rotation (I mimic your build btw but replaced pelt with barb) since I’ll be losing some aspd from dex.
Do you strongly recommend going full Str or you were just giving some inputs about a full str build? separate question: Do you recommend going no Restrain build?
Haven’t really focused on DWA, not sure if it’s working to be honest lul. But when there’s a non stop mob flow I am sometimes caught with no offensive skills to be used (all on cd).
How good is the purple 4 slot new weapon? I saw a spread sheet and it just has a +42 str. I guess the additional 1 gem slot makes alot of difference?
I couldn’t say, I never really tested it. Like I said, I take Pelt and use Guardian so I can solo without taking as much damage, meaning I can’t even use Gung Ho.

Well im in my way to replace it part by part with the 315 gear. (Still so expensive the violet parts) Got the chest in blue with 2 sockets myself, tho.
I dont have any problems soloing there. Use potions and in my case i use Katon or Mijin to get stealth and walk into a better position.
With Mokuton u can also do some nasty stuff for jumping out of the fry if i use it in a moment when a ranged/Mage mob is attacking u.
Well i would like to post some videos, but sadly i cant record one. Every time i do this i got huge lagg spikes and cant even move properly.
Currently 120 points invested into Dex
247 points invested into Str
This part in combat dossier 5 update makes me think again if we really need the SW3 for maxed PB: “Along with these boss changes, we also intend to reduce the frequency of knockdown, omnidirectional and single-target attacks in boss monsters, as well as revise their normal attacks”, i know that Double Slash is doing fine now and i have doubts about restrain usage in pve but the HL2>Barb1 variant may be well proc in terms of overall damage and adds nicely to the bunshins.
Maybe if the only reason you made the Co3>Shin is for general farming at maps and exclude bosses and if it fits your gameplay style you can stick with SW3-Bar.
And i discovered that Concentrate dont adds in the Bunshins damage, only the main gets the buff so Gung Ho is like better with them because they can share the patk.
Well Restrain is more or less ur safety net, if all other safety skills (Mokuton, Mijin and Katon) are on CD.
I intend to bring this char to ET, and for that reason PB is a must have since a lot of Mobs tend to knockback there.
For Bossing u might be right, that Highlander2-barb is better. Moulinet packs quiet a punch, but has only 1 charge by a bigger CD than Double Slash. Also sometimes enemies cant bleed and than ur dmg is crumbled.
I´m also a big fan of Gung-Ho since ever. I tried out Concentrate and i just doesnt fit anywhere. Gung-Ho scales a lot better.
Thinking about general farm the sw3-barb fits better, i think i will follow this way too because i already have a doppel 3 with hl3-barb1, a fencer with sw3-hl2 and i just dont want to have another highlander or i will go crazy xD
You’re doing fine in the end game maps 315+ and HG for farming with your spec?
With the reset event soon ending I’m kinda stuck between 3 builds for my definitive swordie.
Swordsman 3 > Barb > Corsair 3 > Shinobi
Swordsman 2 > Highlander 2 > Corsair 3 > Shinobi
Swordsman > Highlander 3 > Corsair 3 > Shinobi
I’m mostly leaning towards the second. The first is probably the best right now but I’m super skeptical R9 will have a good follow up for Cors3Nobi, so the second one is future-proofed with having sw3 left as an option.
The third is also great right now but ugh, level 5 gung ho/concentrate/pb?
I’ll probably end up with the second one. Skip Restrain so I can have both Gung10 and Conc10 (concentrate is amazing for skills that have those extra collision/ricochet damage lines, like Cartar Stroke for bosses and Pistol Shot)
Nobi can at least still copy Crown/Moulinet/Kunai, but the lack of Double Slash is gonna hurt.
Second one is the worst imo, sword 2 is a wasted rank. If you’re not taking sword 3 might as well go HL3 for the stronger skyliner, if not anything else
