Preliminary beginners guide to Clerics

Get fade, or a different r3 I guess.

Cure got hit hard with these nerfs, it’s now down to a fixed 103% factor which is one of the lowest factors around.
It’s not completely trash tier admittedly, but most other cleric dmg skills got buffed enough that you won’t really miss it.

Fade however, is a godsend if you want to use OoB a lot.

Ofc, that is assuming they don’t further change cleric up even more.

Heal…

Cure…

Divine Might…

Guardian Saint…

Care to remind me what I missed?

As in cleric in its entirety, not the subclass.

Quite a few “junk” skills are no longer junk dmg wise. OoB, Possession, Effigy, Bwa Kayiman, Conversion, Carnivory due to the change to skill factors.

Holy’s 100% bonus dmg vs dark also got lowered to 50% to boot, which was one of the other reasons cure was good.

Never xD
I’m in love with my 17 Heal tiles that nowadays also provide massive damage, and with Cleric C3 I can lurk in the shadows 24/7 thanks to Fade (lvl 11 Fade lasts 32 seconds, Fade CD with Laima = 32 seconds :imp:).
At least until I get decent enough equipment to survive the new scaling of defence&evasion, that will help a lot when questing & farming in the future.

Also, as Sadhu becam a very decent stand-alone Class, I might not be “forced” in the Inquisitor branch at Rank 10, allowing me to pick Sadhu C3 after Kabbalist C3. No idea what to do with the last Ranks after that, though.

Just posting the popular cleric builds from http://tos.nexon.com/rank/characterrank.aspx?n4Type=0&n4World=2 for the sake of comparison:

What is Shaman o-o
and…
Is diev that bad? or Priest is just so much better? I thought that owls damage didn’t change that much…

Miko = shaman.

Diev has lost most of its damage tbh. Owls now have a 25s duration and 50s cd along with a 79%x3 skill factor at lvl 15.
It’s not bad if you also grab miko. but the other dmg skills are a lot better to use atm with fewer downsides and can get you a res.

  • druid3 got nerfed by a lot, which was one of the better diev3 combos.

Wasn’t expecting priest to be this popular though.

Something is still not right there then.

Fixed it, that was Taoist.

Excuse me, a question. Sorry if it is not relevant atm.

Is it worth to get just C1 for PD at rank 7 just for the sake of bloodletting, fumigate, healing factor?
Since I am going to be full support, only interested with the support skills of PD.

I know it will be a hell to level but being support is fun with the button smashing for buffs.

Please and thank you.

Any full support is usually far from ideal in the current state of the game. So I’m quite tempted to say no, it’s not.

Mostly because the title of FS causes most to ignore dmg skills, and quite a few builds allow you to bring some dmg without sacrificing utility. So going FS usually means throwing away part of your skill set for no reason.

IMO only build a fs if you know the classes in it well enough, what you want to use it for (pve/pvp/pvx) and ideally if you have a team with synergistic class choices.

PD1 is a good option for its support though, but it does depend on what other classes you already have.

For the pve/pvp/pvx bit I’ll give you a more detailed example:

Bloodletting is good in pvp, though miko can remove it. But for pve it can be replaced entirely by miko/dispeller scrolls.

Fumigate is decent for pvp as well, but there aren’t enough r3 conditions in pve for it to shine. (or not yet at least)

Healing Factor is quite good in pve and pvp both, but it performs best if you team up with a linker.

Ergo if you were to try and make a pure pve build, and don’t run with a linker most of the time I wouldn’t advise it.

And obviously, I can’t yet speak with certainty for the next patch as it will change up a lot of things.
(Esp considering cleric dps took a hit compared to the dps classes. So FS clerics might see some proper use then. )

It’s from the Anime “Flip Flappers”, the ending of each episode has several scenes of them goofing about.

Edit:May have been @greyhiem, I know it was someone who frequented the cleric forum with advice though.

So I’m currently running a [Cleric > Priest2 > Paladin 3 > Plague Doctor > Inquisitor] which I use mostly for solo PVE purposes and has (so far) pretty much unlimited survivability as long as I keep chugging SP pots, partly thanks to healing factor. Is there something changing radically in the rework in these classes? Radically in a gameplay defining way, I mean. Or a nerf to Healing Factor or Mass Heal or something that would hurt my ability to stay alive.

Mostly, I’d like to know whether or not to look into other build options (preferably keeping paladin and inquisitor) during the resets or if it could still work like this with some adjustments to skillpoint allocations.

I wonder if barrier scrolls are still worth selling after the size nerf. Also from the other thread pardoner doesn’t extend all debuffs now. Sigh more tests to do.

Are all those priest builds full SPR?

It’s best to test out everything once we get the patch, not all changes will be documented on tos-neet & patch logs.

It should still be a viable build, but it will have several changes to it.

  • Incinerate lost its overheat.
  • Inquisitor pears now deploy 5 pears regardless of skill level.
  • Conviction dmg bonuses got reworked. +60% for god smash and +80% for smite.
  • Smite deals150% dmg vs mutants+demons now.
  • Most paladin and inquisitor dmg skills got even stronger.

Check the posts above for more in depth patch logs.

@LemonKeyFace:
All aboard the priest apocalypse.

@RoastedPeanuts:
Not sure about barrier, it should scale with skill level so the lvl 1 scrolls aren’t a good comparison. We’d need to see some lvl 5 barrier scrolls in action first.

And I do plan to test Discern Evil since it has some new unmentioned mechanic that reduces how much time it adds to debuffs. Like a hidden cap now, like +50% of current duration max or something.

Stats weren’t mentioned but most are either spr or int based builds since chaplain works well for both of them. Though an int based build likely grabs pd2 and or miko. Whereas spr likely grabs inquisitor, krivis or the odd kabba2.

So, I was basically going for this build: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/muidmsu3ab/ and rectifying an earlier mistake which you helped clear up earlier. Things changed, Life came up again, so I ended up stopping.

With the new stat/combat/etc changes, is that build still even workable?

I’m sitting at 46 str, 37 con, 5 int, 16 spr, 20 dex (with all adjustments)… Do i need to use a stat/skill reset potion? I can’t give up this character, as it has my founders pack.

Thanks!

I don’t really see why Chaplains got so popular now, is it simply because the autoattack became much stronger? Or is there some other hidden mechanic i missed
