Please don't listen to the casual players

Did you know that mostly everyone here played Ragnarok before in the past?

That means most of them are on their early or mid 20s and most of them now has a job… Doesn’t that just make you smile? They have no need to ask their parents for money unlike before when we were kids playing Ragnarok that we needed the money to pay for the subscription.

That amazing nostalgic feeling that Tree of savior gives to us is just so special that I myself will gladly spend a thousand dollar a month from my paycheck just to support this game… And yes, I do plan on doing this. I do this for Mabinogi but now I’m gonna focus more on Tree Of Savior.

You don’t need any casuals that just plays once in a while that doesn’t even plan to help pay for the game to stay up because you know… They’re “casuals”… They don’t really care about a game they rarely play anyways…

I dare anyone who broke level 100 in ICBT to post a screenshot of their playtime. You can do this right now through steam.

I am positive their playtime breaks 60 hours. Heck, it’s probably approaching the 80-90 hour mark. Out of 123 hours that beta was active. That’s right, 85 hours / 123 hours spent playing tree of savior. INSANE. Completely unhealthy. The game should NOT be balanced around these people. Here’s my rough categorization of people who played

  1. < level 10 : barely played the game, can’t really give feedback

  2. 10-19 : managed to make it past the tutorial, can give beginner feedback

  3. 20 - 35 : played the game and jumped into the grind, can give valuable feedback

  4. 36 - 55 : seriously committed to the grind, can give valuable feedback

  5. 56 - 75 : over-committed to the grind. Borderline no life for the entirety of the test, can provide valuable feedback, but should be taken with a large grain of salt - these people gave up almost everything in their lives for a beta test

  6. 76+ - Full no life mode. Almost certainly deprived themselves of sleep, nutrition and exercise. Dangerous & unhealthy playstyle from someone who is clearly a dependent. Anyone from this level range is saying the grind is “fine” can be disregarded because they are clearly willing to have their lives revolve around this game. That is not true for 99.9% of players, and the game shouldn’t be balanced around people willing to live in an unhealthy manner.

  7. 100+ - Probably hasn’t fully recovered yet from the sleep & food deprivation. Any feedback someone at this level gives should be disregarded outright.

For the record, I barely made it into category 4 by the end of beta and got a top 1000 player key, so the vast majority of the playerbase came nowhere near categories 5-7. I’d guess (hope) that the number of people who broke 100 was very low.

They’re amazing aren’t they? Don’t you just admire people that are hard workers? They work their way to deserve to be the best than the ones who expected to be spoon fed.

It just fills you up with so much Hope knowing talented people like them exist!

I agree that exp scaling shouldn’t be based on the hardcore players experience.

But I don’t agree about this statement “100+ - Probably hasn’t fully recovered yet from the sleep & food deprivation. Any feedback someone at this level gives should be
disregarded outright.”
At least they can help us finding bugs in higher level maps and higher ranked classes.

You sir are just a troll. You killed monsters for hours and hours and hours to get to the level you’re at and you’re saying it wasn’t grindy at all? WTF are you smoking? THAT IS GRINDING. You make no sense AT ALL.

Unless those “hardcore players” also can give thousands of dollars to the game per month to keep the game alive, yeah sure demand low exp rate, but I highly doubt they can both play games 16h/day and give 1k+ month to the game…“Casuals” on the other hand, are mostly working people, sees the game as hobby and doesn’t mind paying some money if they enjoy it.

Lmao I work and study and can play video games 8-9 hours a day( I sleep 4-5 hours everyday).

lol @ these people insisting positioning mobs and mashing buttons takes skill and that having a poor sleep schedule over a videogame somehow makes them elite.

That’s true. On the other hand, I’m sure there will be further beta tests with reasonable xp curves where a much larger subset of players can reach the higher level maps and higher ranked classes.

Getting feedback from a wider array of people is always better.

Who is forcing you to play? Call the police.

Yeah, this game is grindy. What’s the point?

I leveled up until 44, but this CBT wasn’t about bugs or feedbacks on the forum at all. Was about profiling international gamers to adapt the game, testing addiction and tendencies/patterns to adapt the game to them.

holy crap, lol… wow!

Lol. If I’m only working this is my schedule: Wake up 6:30 am, be at work 8 am, finish 4 pm, get home 4:30-5 pm. Play from whenever I get home till 12-1 am(with a break to eat, obviously). And then sleep.Have had no health problem yet ^^.

Also, no one has to “pay” me for something I enjoy doing ^^. Gaming is my passion

Haven’t you forgot social life like your girl / wife, family and friends? :scream_cat:

Not really because they are so sleep deprived and tired that they don’t even know wtf they are doing beside grinding. Your not finding or remembering any bugs or issue in that state lol

I talk to my family daily. My friends play videogames with me/we get together from time to time to have a videogame day on one of our houses playing smash/ps4/xbos one/whatever. I often go to the cinemas, etc. I’m not saying I DO THAT EVERYDAY, I’m saying, thats what i normally do IF I’VE NOTHING ELSE TO DO. Big difference. Also, my gf enjoys playing mmorpgs as much as I do, so we mostly spent time playing ^^.

Edit: Also I dont enjoy clubbing for personal reasons, so if they decide to go clubbing I’ll just pass and stay at my place playing videogames(be it LOL,ToS,whatever I’m playing at the moment).

Besides bugs, they can also contribute by adding some of their feedbacks like this guy Lord Stormakov's General Feedback
He is the highest level character in this beta test (level 106).

I’ve still yet to see anyone provide a half-decent reason as to why exp rates should be increased.

The argument shouldn’t be about hardcore vs casual players. The argument should be about how increasing exp rates will improve the game. Making it easier for the entire community to reach max level does not help in any way. If anything, it would cause for outcry regarding pace of progression/content (which is evident in almost every game out there). I don’t understand what the rush is. Many things considered, an increase in exp rate is something I personally feel is unnecessary for improving the quality of the game.

I also find ridiculous the claim people are making about which side often spends more money on a game. Talk about skewed sample sizes. Please provide unbiased research and make this claim again, as from my experiences, the amount of time one is able to invest in a game is not the determinant of whether the individual opens their wallet or not.

As I’ve already mentioned, your situation as a player is for you to deal with. If you can’t spend as much time as the next person trying to progress in the game, find a creative alternative to deal with it. Don’t try to change the game to accommodate your “wants” at the expense of others, especially if it’s for some selfish reason.

Though the way the original poster titled the thread is unfair, the individual clearly states that he is referring to the issue regarding exp rates. The opinions of all players are important, but that does not make them all valid base for change. And as already mentioned, I have yet to see anyone provide a good reason for such change in this thread.

And finally, if you as a customer were going to decide on whether you would support the game financially solely based on how easy it is for you to level and keep up with the rest of the community, please leave. That should not be the determining factor, but if it is, there are plenty of other games out there that suit your tastes. Don’t ruin this game for others.
