Beg to differ though. Skill synergies should be kept and not changed just because of a piece of equipment. The player will carry the build through his/her entire character career but equipment will change every now and then as new, higher level content is being released.
Agny isnāt a proper solution tho, itās nothing but a band-aid.
If Pyros can pump out enough DPS and utility like Rangers and Highlanders(both DPS classes from the same rank), Agny wouldnāt be needed.
As @Sensate stated:
Even fencers donāt have their x3 damage on 100% uptime, and they require to crit.
Yes just delete the wizard tree. Problem solve. Fencer should be the top dps and have 100% uptime in their shenigans. *slow clap
It will be fun when fencers get to transcend their new weapons to come one day so they donāt need anymore a dragoon to cap damage xD.
I donāt think Agny is a problem, itās extremely strong for any multi-hit classes with fire element skills (looking at you PD), but it is fair for Wizard since they donāt have any strong Aoe class (which they should) and being outperformed by other dps class, like Dragoon.
The bigger problem is the later content balancing for hardcore and casual players like many had said. I feel like itās almost impossible for anyone to have easy time in 260+lvl maps with average equipment or a slightly ānon meta, non ultra high damage, less optimized buildā.
IMC had made some changes on balancing but mainly making them to deal more damage, in ādifferent presentationā. Thus this raised a fundamental question, why have so many classes, which will make the character less optimized, when the contents suggest nothing but go dps?
I hope the next content patch, basically R9 I believe, IMC could utilize the variety ToS have and less focus on making field mob 1m hp. We donāt need another 2005 2006 game that each normal attack deal 1m damage.
Itās just a shotgun in the form of a normal gun made by the powers of briquetting. :V
About petitions in general, how about a meaningful one?
The content is so simple:
Stop embarrassing yourself!
What the hell is happening here? 6 digit damage
This petition isnāt going anywhere, it would, only if this post was about balancing pvp or gvg, not boring daily missions.
Strike damage multipliers from debuffs, basically same thing as agny but can go far as doubling your damage over and over for around 3-5 times I think depending on number of debuffs applied.
Thereās also Deeds of Valor + Glass Mole combo making Doppels do 199k damage non-crit.
To be honest I think Iām yet to see a Pyro getting cube on Blut when thereās a lot of competition, lol.
Agny is fine.
This is such a good idea and seems totally doable with a bit of planning and thinking out the details. Probably the first idea Iāve ever seen here on forums which address the rank imbalance without really affecting many other aspects of the game (monsters, gear, transcendece, etc). Not that those other aspects donāt need attention as well, but by targetting specific areas without compromising the others, I guess itād be much easier to implementā¦
@staff @STAFF_Max @STAFF_Ethan @STAFF_Yuri @STAFF_Ines @STAFF_John You guys should definetely take a look at this.
I think the correct way would be to have all skills %-based, because only that way it can be assured that skills and the gain of damage via increasing skill levels stay at the same relative power to eachother no matter what the stats/equips are and itād help weaker skills to stay relevant without the need for stupid equips like Agny or any other bandaid-methods.
Having a skill have 100 skill damage with 100 additional damage per skill level is useless when you have 5k+ atk at level 300, because neither does the skill have a noticeable effect on the actual damage at higher levels when you have items with 2+ atk, leveling the skill level is also worthless because additional 900 damage doesnāt matter when you dish out damage at 100k+ damage per hit.
On the other hand, if the skill dealt 200% of your statatk+weapon atk at level 1 and an additional 20% per skill level then the skill would stay relevant and at the same relative power regardless whether you only have 100 atk or 5000 atk, because itād deal always 200%~400% of your atk.
Agny is fine.
They made a c2 class viable, what is good.
Now just have to make similar to the other one, so we can pick what we need and have fun. You know, I wish I could be a high dmg sapper, but cantā¦
If there an item like this I could make a build focusing in sapper skills, not R8 high dmg skills⦠because really, all we build, we build for R8⦠so where would be the 80 classes if only the last one matter?
Something I dont understand is that IMC made the effort to renew the power of the Shield fighter in the swordman tree with Murmillo (note it takes into account every potential shield users) but not for the other class:
They wanted to make the tanky chassis to be able to dish damages too because this is the only need of ToS content, support classes can do the tanking job just fine by either PermaCC or immunities. In my opinion the support class are too strong (hello Dieb) but it is another debate.
Pyromancer was supposed to be the first damage dealing class in the Wizard tree (the first you can pick) and was successful until R5-R6. The problem of pyro in R7 was the fact that the skill damages in this game are rank related and most of the previous skill are under-performing DAMAGE WISE when you go into a new class rank.
In this game design, it was easier and better to pick the support class in your early ranks because most of your damage came from your later ranks.
It leads to sad situations like where Wiz3/Elem3/Warlock is better than a Wiz1/Pyro2/Elem3/Warlock even if the later build got more DPS classes. This problem was induced by a too high powerlvl of certain buffs (hello Quickcastās attribute).
IMC decided that this class wasnāt worthy of a whole new class to balance it and gave an item to compensate. The required lvl of the item should be between 170 and 220 where pyro starts to struggle and not 120.
Agny is just a sloppy way to balance the class but at least they can change the value later to make it viable at R9 with no development cost ! Marvelous, isnāt-it?
They messed in that they are locking pyros into requiring this 1 specific necklace forever. They canāt take it out the game now, extra mdef isnāt worth more dmg now.
They couldāve fix the mechanics of the class (no more allies knocking your FB away) and that wouldāve helped pyros alot already. IMC just went a cheap lazy way to patch up pyro. Meanwhile rain and storm calling still trolls pyros
I donāt know where we went wrong on the way down, but this game was supposedly the 80 classes wide customizing machine. Sure there might be a lot of classes now it can be overwhelming for new players. But right now, only a few classes matter. Iām not even talking about meta-ET-ROFLDPS or anything, itās just that some classes are just too broken to even roam the R8 field without getting rammed (Sadhu).
Can anyone tell me why IMC transformed the supposedly synergistic rank system, where every circle matter (without hinging on a single necklace), into this powercreeping madness weāre currently stuck with?
Also, how do I bribe IMC to hire @Nekorin?
I think the base game up to Rank 7 level 280 seems pretty fine.
Where it broke down was
-the addition of headgear enchants
-the improvement of headgear enchant stats
-the improvement of gem stat values
-the implementation of the transendence system
-the additon of rank 8 content with level 280+ monsters with stupidly high hp/def/mdef/atk/matk
-the addition of stupidly high skill damage values for R8 skills
-the addition of the ā+10% def/mdef per player rankā-feature
because all of those things contributed to players, especially when combined, having ridiculously high stats and thus monsters having to have stupidly high stat/hp values, which then restulted in lower rank skills beocoming useless, which then promted IMC to implement the Agny necklace.
Absolutely, otherwise whatās the point in lower rank attack classes when you can just go buff/support instead - which will always remain relevant.
Agny is fine as it is, as long as it remains without MDef and there are other element counterparts.
Low rank skills should have Level based scallings (in some of the skills) and high ranks should have some type of class that synergize very well with them, like Hopgoon and Doppel+Barbarian, but for other classes. Right now, thereās no other fire based class in high rank. Maybe they will put one in the rank 9ā¦
