PC Gamer Review: 58/100 - "One nostalgia trip you might want to skip"

One word comes to mind when I think about ToS, “unfinished”. I really want this game to succeed but in it’s current state it’s mediocre at best. If I wasn’t burnt out on RO I would be playing it instead.

Don’t bother responding to him. He has been caught repeatedly lying and is likely nothing but a child who has nothing better to do than troll.

What it REALLY means is that they didn’t pay enough for a good review. That’s unfortunately what game ‘journalism’ has come down to.

Enlighten the community of your blue shiny mob summoning technique!

Dont come with any other shining mobs, because XP doesn’t change for these.

Ok. I was just summarizing his article tho’. :no_mouth: Not the main purpose of my post but class balance is a pretty huge deal especially when classes like Hunter completely suck. Or Rank 7 classes like Ninja just don’t hold up to the prestige of their rank.

I honestly have no idea what you’re getting at. I never mentioned anything about grinding. I think there was some confusion on the wording. Bots are synonymous to gold sellers in my book. The game takes measures against bots by heavily restricting trade for all players.

Should’ve worded it better, I agree. However, the game launched into an official F2P, and since then, we have not had any form of communication with the staff, and that’s pretty bad.

That’s what I meant. We all exagerate every now and then. :joy:

If I wanted to address TP shop content I would’ve done that. We were just launched into F2P, and that will come over time. My qualms aren’t with the price of megaphones, soul crystals, or scrolls. My qualms are with the overpriced Token and female hair styles. Before you take this out of context, no I don’t have a female character, and I don’t need one to see how over priced their hairstyles are.
I consider that a pro, that means I actually have to think and consider how a skill would work and how it might fit into a build. Too many games these days give information that should be earned, away for free. (quicktime button events for advanced actions in action games are a good example of this…)
I guess this is where we completely disagree. I think it’s a pretty big deal that a skills should at least list basic information. For example, Schwarzer Reiter’s skill Concentrated Fire does not not list the number of hits the skill does each time you level it. If someone were to get the level 1 skill and see it only shoots 4 times, they won’t bother leveling it because it just seems heavily underwhelming. You wouldn’t be able to know that the number of fires actually increases with each level up unless you actually level it to test it out. Meanwhile we have other skills like Spiral arrow and Multishot that clearly state in the description how many times each skill level will hit. Why can’t they do the same for Concentrated fire?

Another big one is Rouge’s Burrow Skill.
What it says: “Hide underground to conceal your appearance. In this state you can attack but cannot move.”
What it should say: “Hide underground to conceal your appearance. In this state you can attack but cannot move. Many skills are also unavailable while in this state.”

Other examples include Sorcerer’s Summon Servant not telling you what leveling the skill does. Or how Priest’s Monstrance skill doesn’t tell you that the Dex increase on level 1 and level 15 are exactly the same. Or how Priest’s Revive and Cleric’s Fade are actually party wide buff when they were worded as if they were self/individual buffs.

Hidden synergies like Feint + Barrage combo aren’t the problem. It’s the basic information. A skill should be able to tell you the basic functions and what benefits you are getting from increasing each level.

How can you say that hiding these important details make people “think and consider how a skill would work and how it might fit into a build” when we have NO IDEA what the skill is even doing when we level it?

I don’t understand why you have to resort to such crude language when we can discuss and debate this topic in a civil manner. I am writing this post as a friendly debate on the current state of the game, so I’m wondering why your post has to have such animosity behind it. There’s a way to disagree with someone without having to resort to belittling other’s opinions.

The review is a joke.

Stop telling people to quit because they link a bad review by an important gaming site that for some reason offends you.
The amount of times white k’s resort to “yea, why don’t you just quit, tnx for donation to IMC and bye”. Honestly, I don’t think you people realise that if everyone with a negative opinion about the game quits, you will see how many people actually can properly play this game withough the big issues getting in the way.

I think it’s important to “whine” on forums about the negative aspects of the game because it helps IMC prioritise in what order they want to tackle the issues.

Personally, I like the idea of the game. It’s like having a crackhead hot gf that’s sometimes nice to you. Sure, she’s hot, but she’s also a crackhead. Pretty much, ToS is the hot crackhead gf.

The review is def a joke.

Just so you know. MMOs you cant review like any other genre. You cant play just for a day and have a good perspective on it. The dude failed to mention his progress. And the time he invested in it. Which puts the validity of his perspective into question. What he is doing is deformation without any knowledge and experience. And its the typical sense of entitlement that any english and or american writer thinks they have is to speak their opinion with no good basis to back it up. No real experience with the game exclusively to back it up.

Personally Id find his view point more valid if he got to lv 225 MINIMUM.

Its kind of like a white person speaking about someone whos black. Or an art historian speaking on the experiences of a painter when they have never personally experienced painting.

This writer didnt immerse himself in this world, he just stepped his toe in to feel the temperature. And used the title to gain views on his article.

Do you honestly think if ToS don’t get a good review it’s must be becaue they didn’t pay enough?

How old are you? Like 14? Let me guess…everyone who gave bad review about this game is an idiot, right? Or they didn’t get enough money either?

Why can’t you just acknowledge the fact that this game is bad right now and no magazin will give higher points than this? Honestly, just imagine if this game would get a higher score on pc gamer or on gamespot. That journalist would get scolded by the boss at the spot.

Honestly, you are so ignorant that it hurts. You are one of the best example of white knights.

It’s called fanatism what you are doing. When you are even making conpiracy theories why your game has negative review in a famous magazin that’s the point when you should just stay silent.

Man…what’s next? Illuminati confirmed?

@ArecArws Yeah! He should play this game until he would like it! Point a gun on his head and if he dare to say anything bad… You know what to do.

If he would give a negative review after 300 hours, you would say: He just played too much and burnt out.

If he only played 40 hours: He didn’t even scratched the surface.

I’m just wondering , if this game is so damn bad , why are those ppl still bragging / forum writing about it ? If you think this game is bad, then move on to he next one and hell with it.

People who point out that this game is bad are the only ones trully caring about this game. If we just leave it alone, that means we don’t care if it fails. We do…also since I spent money on this game, I expect something for that.

That means they have to work for my money and I have the right to complain.

This guy is just giving his opinion. Yet you go on personal attack directly.
What kind of responses do you expect to get from this? What do you want clearly?

Let’s assume everyone agree with you. What did you get? Whats the purpose of all this?

So are we all gonna quit now?

Anyone gonna tell people to not try this game?

magazins often reveiw from a more basic site as maybe a hardcore player etc in mmos…
But well thats not a bad thing …
It would be even worse if u would look into this game from a maxed charakter perspective …

I usually come to defend IMC, but since I started to play on SA server, I can’t.

It’s been really not “fun” and most of times inaccessible to play. I’m stopping little by little and that’s sad. I couldn’t play AT ALL this Sunday. When I was a child I could not buy tons of Cash/Gold/Etc on games and I was really willing, and wishing, to spend some money here, but it feels worthless already. There is no point to pay for something if you can’t even use it.

Because that user is @forgotten_dreams. He will quote train your entire post and somehow come up with a progressively more stupid reason to justify the next point, it’s like his niche area of expertise.

The guy literally said he likes that skills/classes are vague and poorly described in a game where class choices are irreversible because he likes to plan ahead. Like if that isn’t the most pants on head idiotic thing you’ve ever read, then you’re just now entering the madness that is this game’s bright kite syndrome.

I don’t know what it is about this game, but this game turns up some of the most delusional bright kites I’ve ever seen.

Thats just your minority opinion contrary to majority who likes this game.

If he did not like this game he would not be bothered to post his p.o.v about it’s state.

It’s not a minority opinion.

The game went from ~40k players to ~10k.

Lest we also forgot numbers less than 100k are already embarrassing because they scared people off in the betas with their awful design, but at least it wasn’t lagging and we had trade.

Ugh a lot, and I mean a LOT of mmos have mixed reviews on steam. Someone linked 5 mmos in another thread, 3 out of those 5 have mixed recent reviews(who cares about all time reviews, most of those players already quit and the recent reviews are the one that count). The only overly positive where PoE and another 1 I dont remember rnow.
