PC Gamer Review: 58/100 - "One nostalgia trip you might want to skip"

He’s right on the money for the most part. I already know what the bright kites are going to say: the game is not for him, he didn’t play far enough, yada yada yada. What you forget is that he is the embodiment of what is an average gamer approaching the game. With IMC alienating the average gamer with awkward and stiff design decisions, ultimately players are driven away before they stick.

The game cannot survive on just the masochists. Score is well deserved.

Challenge accepted!

Feeling better now? someone typed down something you could agree with for once.

And i didnt even need to say what you attempted to predict

Well, i only know you for really really really wanting class reset.
Getting class reset wouldnt fix anything, its just a cashgrab bandaid.

And from my understanding judging your post about “beginners pack” cashgrab is something you dont like.

When will people stop defending IMC? How much of a negative review you need to open your eyes?

Steam = Full of negative reviews -> Your defense -> It’s Steam. They didn’t even played the game. Yeah…you don’t mention that on the other side fanboys gave positive reviews out of nowhere or after the same amount of time.

A famous magazin = Negative review -> It’s bullshit. Just one review, nothing more! Show me another 200 where it’s negative! Then talk! Then from the 200 there is 10 which is positive and you will tell us: See?! These are normal magazins, the others just trash!

Honestly…take off that blindfold already, cause this game failed hard… the game currently is garbage. Ok, it’s a fun garbage till lvl 200 (when you can play), but nothing else. IMC is ignorant, they lack the knowledge and professionalism and that’s it.

It’s bittersweet, friend.

Reading the text you can tell he’s not angry with the game, he’s just…sad. He sees the limitless potential there being marred by ugly design decisions and a questionable direction.

I have never wondered if there is a person out there who agrees with me. I know that most people out there do, they just aren’t the ones remaining on the forum. Those people left already.

They wanted the game to succeed and be more than what it is now. There’s only sadness.

He hardly touched the surface, which is expected considering he didn’t dive too far into the game. A pretty solid review, but I would’ve given the game a much lower score.

Things he mentioned:
-Horrible class balance
-Bad optimization
-Unforgiving class system

Things should’ve been mentioned
-Atrocious spawn rates
-Horrible market system
-Horrible dungeon system
-Game is designed to work around bots (Bad because it hurts innocent players)
-Zero communication with community
-Issues hardly ever addressed
-Lackluster weekly updates
-Overpriced TP shop (Token and female hair mostly)
-Vague and unhelpful skill descriptions (!!!)

I’m sure someone else can keep the list going.

Yup, it’s valid to say that the review could have been a lot worse, with several high profile issues going unmentioned.

lol this somehow turned out unexpected ~.~
where are the knights ?

Well, these are valid points, not sure what white knights are supposed to defend, other then pulling the good aspects of the game i suppose.

Bright kites always find a way…it’s part of their job description

Very fair review. Could have been much worst.

Actually, the only thing I disagree with is his one point with the controls. I dunno, I found the gamepad and the mouse are pretty good compatibility wise. Other games say they have this, or don’t offer it at all.

Otherwise his complaints with the game are fully justified, from Job Reset to Optimization worries. And as I’ve read with the review, he’s not angry like the majority of people on these forums. He’s got this sad tone, probably doesn’t want to tear the game limb from limb because he actually seemed as though he sees the potential and had his fair share of fun. Wouldn’t surprise me if the guy makes another review a few months later, with possible improvements.

While I don’t like fanboys and white knights, I think the other side is just as stupid as them. I mean ok, the game is bad now as I said. However…much lower score?

Honestly…this is a game review, not a company review. The game is around that score which was given. It’s fun till a point and good till you hit some walls…

That’s why it’s the review is on point. What you are talking about is a lower score because you are angry with IMC. Personal feeling are never leading to a good review.

Yeah, if you would have to rate IMC it would deserve a much lower score, cause the players are hating them, but let’s not bash the product because we don’t like those guys.

I mean, even if we don’t like them, we have to respect their work and we have to review the product, not the feelings toward the company.

Looks like when the servers are fixed, then his review wont have much negative in it.

Just about right. A bit sad to say, but “It’s great when it works” is a good way to describe ToS right now.

It has a lot of potential to be the game we all want it to be, but it isn’t there, and needs to jump through a lot of hurdles to grow into it. I’m going to stick with them as long as I can in hopes that maybe it will get better.

There’s more positive than negative reviews.

How many positive reviews are needed to open your eyes? You are nothing but a hypocrite. Oh, let me guess, the positive reviews don’t matter as much as the negative ones conveniently.

I dont really care what other people think. I really enjoy the game, all that matters to me.

“Nostalgia” When people will learn that ToS has nothing to do with Ragnarok…

Funniest community ever, really. Do you guys really enjoy circlejerking each other while denouncing so-called “white knights” so much? Is your mind so weak that you have to find another voice to lean on?

Good thing most players never visit forums, because they’re actually playing the game.

If a game has “mixed” overall reviews on steam, it’s very bad. Believe it or not. Mixed means 50-50% almost and it is equal to fail there.
