P2W Model Prevents People From Playing & Enjoying The Game

They cost 10 times more then tokens on kToS.

Though I agree it won’t matter in PvE.

Of course, ideally ToS should sustain itself whit it’s player base, what’s important now is drawing the line and making sure things don’t go into dangerous territory when it comes to P2W.

The current model i fell is acceptable and if Tos can work whit just this then i don’t see a problem, however it’s important to let IMC know that we won’t stand for things like Upgrade boosters in the Cash shop or Premium potions.

Pay to win will destroy a game for many people. I think our definition of “destruction” is not the same. Will it destroy the game? Probably not because there will always be few whales who want to feel special over others. Will it destroy the experience of an average player? Definitely. This is why I’m arguing that p2w model HURTS player experience.

Example of a p2w element in Granblue Fantasy (Mobile app).

Short Summary - Some guy spent $6065 to get a unit on promotion (double chance to get). This brought attention to the company’s deceitful marketing tactics. Statistically, buying two lottery gives you double chance to win, but you will likely NOT WIN by 99.9999%. Regulation for p2w models that encourage gambling is not well established, so people are demanding for change in Japan. Shares for Cygames tumbled after this news.

Bringing this all together to ToS, the average player will NEVER be able to get a perfectly rolled hat. Whether that will impact game play significantly is questionable, but this practice ENCOURAGES players to gamble on virtual items. A big black market (Real money trades) for these perfectly rolled hats will develop, leading to more bots and potentially hacking issues.

Remember why the game was being delayed for release? Bots. It’s a lame excuse, but removing bots from game is not an easy task. I think it’s counter intuitive for IMC to encourage these cash shop items when they do not want to deal with even more bots.

First to do it right? Maybe there is no solution at all thats why we cant find one. They cant make all the playerbase happy, hence with the current system, it is zero sum. Players running around with perfect stats in hats would be extremely rare if not impossible, thats pretty acceptable. If they changed that, we might find ourselves into more disgusting features.

GW2 was B2P or P2P? in the first place, thats maybe the reason why they dont have P2W items in their cash shops. TOS is different, this game was built as a F2P business model.

Now that you really like GW2 how about we integrate their strategy into TOS then? Since you compare TOS system to GW2 in the first place.

Premium TOS like GW2:

-Only 2 chars
-Limited inventory slots(about half)
-Cant use specific job tree on every class
-No access to certain map or dungeons
-Some skills are locked
-Cant use COD if would be implemented in the future
-No guild bank
-Cant use world chat or Map chat ( can only use whisper to party or guild) <-- LOL

  • cant look for group at lvl 30 below
    -cant pvp chat
    -No Daily log in bonus
    -Limited Market features
  • World transfer?( i can only guess probably cant teleport to certain place or maybe items).

If you dont think it is disgusting to free players then youre bias. Not all players are playing to be number 1 or be extremely competitive. Majority will play this game for contents. Restricting those is just flat out heartless. Now the alternative of few stats which you need to pay for tons of money sounds clean in comparison.

I’m currently playing BLack desert till this game comes out. There is no trading there so gold sellers go selling cash shop items that are tradable. Yelling cause energy etc. the amount of gold seller is growing as people by these items from them. So my point is you can limit them but they Will find something else to sell .

The current level cap for ToS is 280. Imagine when we hit lv 500 and they release even more OP cash shop items where mounts and pets give stat bonuses or even skill bonuses (of choice).

Before that happens, we need to tell IMC it is NOT okay to introduce any p2w elements to Tree of Savior. Cosmetics are already quite expensive to purchase, but they give direct benefits to people. Anything that gives direct benefits with a price tag is fine. The movement speed bonus from tokens are fine, because it’s quite insignificant. It might give a slight advantage in PVP, but the PVP system in ToS is still in development.

On the other hand, RNG cash shop items that give stat bonuses are not fine. You might be spending $6,000 on the game but never get what you truly want. Some people might be lucky and get it off their first try. This creates an unbalanced power between players that got lucky and players that weren’t so fortunate. What does this encourage? As I mentioned before, it encourages RMT markets to flourish. Every mobile app game I played that deals with heavy RNG had a very large RMT market. I do not expect Tree of Savior to be any different at this rate (biggest assumption here).

Prevention is better than cure

It is better to try to keep a bad thing from happening than it is to fix the bad thing once it has happened.

I do agree we were talking about different things yakoplee94. However, I do not disagree with you that the average player will be affected by iToS’s “Pay to Win.” This is because average player, like myself, don’t care about being the best on the server. The only deterrents to an average player is progress and updates.

Now if we need to spent $10 to buy an item in order to beat a MID-BOSS in the game, then yeah, that’s pay to win. But paying $10 to be slightly superior in PvP? No, the average player can hardly care about that.

You’re talking out of your ass now, no evidence, can’t even call this a theory. You people are overreacting and crying over small insignificant buffs.

You clearly aren’t even reading all of what I said, I already stated that the movement speed doesn’t apply in PvP Arenas.

I’m tired of going in circles with kids who complain about every single small detail. This game isn’t designed for you, the world revolve doesn’t revolve around you. These benefits are a joke and you sound like it’s the worst sh!t like you’ve ever seen in any MMORPG.

I prefer community not full of complaining kinders. Can I browse it here instead of current?

Don’t forget that PvP also includes guild wars and duels. PvP is not limited to just PvP Arenas. Last time I checked kToS forums and reddit, the que for those Arena (and instances) were dead.

Already made my point on movement speed during GvG in an earlier post. Duels are for fun, win or lose, if you take them seriously then there’s a bigger problem with the player than the buffs.

Source for your last statement?

Played MS for years, barely bought NX and had a great time. This will be no different but with a job! O goody :>

Duels should be fun, but certain items just doesn’t allow “fun” to exist. Would be pointless to duel a friend when you know for a fact you’ll get one shotted.

As for the queue time on arenas, I can’t find the original inven post. I remember someone posting a picture where he was waiting over 2 hours for the queue to pop. They were asking each other if the game was dead (population wise) in Korea. If I do find it I’ll post a link.

Can we Please stop Imagining Inane garbage, and just play the game? I mean, holy hell…

“Imagine your car bursts in to flames because someone paid someone else, and paid for the gasoline, to dump gasoline on my car”

“Imagine you get run over by a train because ■■■■ Dastardly paid the train company to do it.”

None of you know with absolute certainty what lies in this game’s future, and “Imagining” is absolutely not helping.

No, they aren’t. The majority of cosmetics are free. You can live without two bonus hair styles.

Unless this is Pay-to-Win the “Grooviest Revelator” contest.

P2W my ASS

From Developer / publisher point of view :
Developer spend YEARS to make this game, and you want all FREE?
you don’t APPRECIATE their efforts.
Looks at cash shop right now, is there any super power item that make you OP ? only stupid hairstyle and custom with no stats effect.
So tell me, if there’s no magic scroll ( you can get in game too ) that give additional stats would people spend money in this game / profit for Publisher ? NO. Especially a pure F2P user. ( Like me )
You can see alot MMos sell nonsense items on cash shop.
Even for balance game like Dragon Nest ( early game ), their cash costums has Incredible stats, compare to Tos that just pure fashion.

About token even if you don’t want to buy token you still can access all game fiturs. Compare to Runescape Bond, if you don’t buy it you only have very limited access ( you can call it B2P )
see the different ? TOS doesn’t force you to buy but Runescape does.
P2W My ASS

From Player point of View :
Like others said above, it’s to save TIME.
All token bonus will save your time to build your characters.
Especially market tax, it’ll save many your times for silvers / items farms.
Also with spending money to Publisher will make patch faster.
Player > give money to Publisher > buy patch from Developer. ( you can call it Holy Trinity  )
So with spend money you can keep the game stay alive.
iTOS have same publisher and Developer tough.
But not in other countries.

I think item that must not exist is resurection scroll, or just have limited you can use this item only 3 or 5 / dungeon, or make it like Ragnarok when you die you get exp penalty. LOL

Actually, I argue that Runescape has a very peculiar model. The F2P and P2P worlds are very separated. It’s basically two different universes, and they don’t really mix much. In fact, when a P2P player logs into an F2P world, he mostly reverts back to a F2P player in functionality, I believe.
As such, you basically just have two different games. You have the F2P Runescape game that is completely free and where you can compete with other F2P people. And you have the P2P Runescape game that costs money and where you compete with other P2P players. There is no Pay To Win here as the P2P players don’t compete with the F2P players

yeah, my bad i was too focus on all access.
so basically if that’s apply on TOS, f2p only have 5ranks class, no Orsha City, no World boss, etc.

Western audiences are impossible to please. They want everything for free.
Profits from asian markets will have to subsidize the Western MMORPG business.

IMC is going to regret going alone in western market and incurring the additional overhead costs. The NA MMORPG market is not even very profitable for Nexon which have multiple games and established infrastructure.
