I always felt PK added an extra element to role play games… Good guys, Bad guys…
Thoughts?
Would you want something like this? Why or why not?
How would you manage such a system to make it “fair”?
Jail time? Jury duty?

I don’t mind people who want to PVP but I definitely think it should be either a specific location for it, or an option you can turn on/off because a lot of people, myself included, hate PVP and want nothing to do with it.
They could add PK, but then they should add safe zones for low levels, don’t know if you have played WoW or Lineage 2, but getting 1 hit Aoe’d by a lvl 80 when you are trying to figure how to win a fight against a pig isn’t fun…
They should have a PvE server and a PvP server.
This way those who want to pk and fight pkers can be in one server and those who just want to fight the environment can be left alone
I agree there should be different zones for pking, but obviously like main towns (PvP server) should be safe whereas anything above a certain level zone should be pkable. It gives you a more cautious and thrilling experience when you see someone running in your direction.
Safe Zones are nice or perhaps really high level guards who protect towns. Jail systems or bounty systems can really make people rethink attacking others.
I never liked PK and never will
Because people will find ways to exploit it anyway, like for example a rewarding quest that is not in a safe zone and stuff like that
No PK for me
I think something like Lineage 2 might be good enough. I enjoyed that until I droped my ant queen and baium ring on one crazy pk fest lol
We’re trying to avoid generititis here.
We do not want another WoW clone. Although the jail, I like. Only instead of PK notorious players, that’s where management should put rule breakers who must get banned permanently.
PK system has always been the most arguable. Some used it for a good cause and others used it to bully the weak to gain dominance over the map. To be honest, I’ve seen cashy users with bling bling items mostly abused this kind of thing. I do prefer something like a safe zone or a PK server so it won’t go out of hand.
For the Jail Time and Jury Duty, they’re sounds good to me. The punishment could be something like can’t log in for a day or two. Or even something like they may log in but they be transferred into a jail map where they may roam around but can’t do anything and go anywhere. Something between those lines.
True but exploits works in both ways in that scenario. People will know its unsafe, perhaps not travel alone? Hire a player for protection? Or maybe there are actual kind players out there who survey hostile environments to help others. But I do admit, PK brings out the worse in people, true nature…
I hate open world PK system with all my soul. Imo ruins every game that it touches.
If you can choose to turn on/off this feature, might be nice for both sides, those who hate it (like me) and those who enjoy it. Or as suggested before PvP Enforced servers would be a good choice.
And then your guard actually be waiting for you to finish the quest so he rob your item too ![]()
What a hassle just to play the game hahahahaha!
Everything is better with Open World PvP. Everything.
As long as it has the right concequences for PKing innocent people, of course.
If there’s a lot of people who wouldn’t like this, just make a separated PK server.
WoW really is a terrible comparison for this sort of thing, considering it had a faction system. All factions promote is mindless actions towards players of the opposing one, resulting in PK without reason. A game with OWPvP would be most fit for one without, since that means that the players would need actual reasons for doing so, not to mention it becoming alot more engaging than the game just telling you to do so.
The jail system in Archeage is cool although you can escape using a spoon.
How about a choice on character creation whether or not that character should be involved in open world PVP?
A character that has PVP enabled will have a different colored name or icon that indicates that they are a target. Then once a PVP enabled character engages in combat with another PVP character, they cannot be a target of abilities by PVP disabled characters. This would prevent pocket healers and encourage PVP characters to party with other PVP characters.
That’s ridiculous. Nobody would choose that option, not even people who want PK, because you are simply gimping yourself for no benefit in doing so.
A better idea is to make a separated PK server so everyone is in equal conditions in each server and PvP would actually have a meaning.
A PK channel should exist imo.
