this one works?
yes it does.
…
It look fine, but you don’t really need kneeling shot cuz you’re mount. and more than 1 point in crit shot isn’t worth.
I’m not sure about SR skill allocation though.
Critical shot goes to 1, this skill will only be used up to the moment that you get the updated version of limacon.
Get 4 points in time bomb arrow. Does extra damage against plate, some use for plate bosses.
Get 1 point in Oblique Shot. It is good for leveling. Get 1 point in heavy shot for utility, get full draw to 7 for one hit instant cast of it, and 1 point in kneeling shot for utility (mainly silluiai torch)
For SR 3, max Assault and Retreat. This is what you can do with the rest of the points:
- Max concentrated Fire and invest the rest in Limacon.
- Max Limacon, invest the rest in Concentrated Fire.
Save one point for Caracole 1 if you want its repositioning utility.
Coming from an A2-R3-SR2 for quite a while already:
- Critical shot is horrible. You’re MUCH better off spamming oblique shot and heavy shot than critical shot. Why? Oblique shot has slow debuff + bounce, which ends up in much better damage and utility, and heavy shot has +50% against plate users
- Wild shot is horrible
- You don’t pick caracole for the damage. Leave it at 1
- You may or may not put all the other points into limacon. It may or may not be fantastic on r8
EDIT: Oh, and as everyone said, kneeling shot is a no-no
Do you think there’s a better alternative then going full Ranger 3 for your build?
I want to make an SR2 but I am not convinced Ranger 3 is the best class investment.
Do you think Wugushi 1/Wugushi 2 does better than R3/R2,R3 and any opinions on if QS3 brought more to the table?
wugu does offer better. the problem is it doesn’t scale to crit.
If you want to maximise damage without losing ranger buff. This days people take a rank of rouge for gimmick reposition and 100% crit. WW cards. something like A -> R3->rouge -> SR.
Though R3 scaling is bad. You still gain a 5% additional future proof damage from steady aim.
As for QS3 you will be sticking to cafrisun + grand cross for 95% of the game until you get a upgrade to DGC. The ability for QS3 to mob is extremely bad. Especially at lates. Even with DCG. Often you will only be hitting about 12-13k per AA at 2 AA per second. Highly dependent on PING
Although the lack of AOE can be cover by RS sector but it’s pretty meh until you get the correct equipments.
what if i get QS3 instead of R3? because of Running shot.
R3 skill’s looks so useless.
Pavise is actually one of the best solutions to mob besides Taunt |:
qs3>SR build used to be fine but with the limacon change running shot might become sort of redunant since limacon will do almost the same+aoe but we really don’t know how effective it is yet so, unless some KR player test it for us we can’t really speak
R3 skill that is useful in ET is steady aim, because there usually a cleric use meltis to prolong the buff, so it’s +20% dmg. But QS3 route give you running shot for bossing and other skill that can attract the mob.
20% steady aim damage is very strong for retreat shoot , if you want good aoe and boss too, you can chose a2-r1-wugu2-sr2 , you can chose other weapon than grandcross but still good killing boss and 10% steady aim + barrage
Yea still their mob ability in crowds is kinda bad. Especially when mobs are over 100k it becomes a problem.
I’ll try to answer a bit step to step, in a summary your build works.
I also recommend getting Ranger 3 before Archer 2. (Instead of Archer 2 Ranger 3.)
Skill allocation on first build:
– Archer
At least 1 point in Oblique Shot.
4 points on Full Draw is already good.
0 points on kneeling shot.
At least 1 point on Heavy Shot (I like 5/5).
– Ranger
At least 1 point in Time Bomb Arrow.
– SR
Really up to you. I’d go for the common 15 Concentrated 15 Retreat Shot 10 Limacon 5 Assault Fire (or 14 Concentrated and 1 point on Evasive Maneuvering).
Wild Shot is pretty bad.
Now for the second build:
Skill allocation on second build suggested:
4 points are enough on Full Draw (up to you).
I’d take 5 points on Heavy Shot (up to you).
I wouldn’t take Kneeling Shot (up to you).
I prefer to have 4 points in Critical Shot at the moment, this may change. (up to you).
This is pretty true. I have Critical Shot on 4 but I’ll probably reduce it.
I’d go for 5/5 Heavy Shot for damage. With bow vs flying plate you can spam crits of 12k each. Full Draw on 4 is already enough for instant cast. I wouldn’t really pick Kneeling Shot tbh. But up to you ~
My opinion is in the other way around. Critical Shot guarantee some 7k crits on 4 with 50% attribute level. Also it cancel monsters usual skills. There are occasions you want to 1-shot only one monster instead of bouncing hits as well don’t proc slow debuff for aggro. Again, up to you. IMHO both works. I just prefer Critical Shot over Oblique Shot for my own gameplay.
It will be spammable around 7-8k crits with good attributes on Lv.10 as far as I know. Quite good (or at least okay-ish) but also get +% bonus from lethargy. Totally worth IMO.
I’m neutral about Rogue variants. But about Werewolf cards… I think you’re better with Glass Mole if you can afford to get them on Lv.10 instead of Werewolf.
IMHO from my experience the scaling isn’t bad, nor on steady aim nor on skills.
About QS 3. I think that Quarrel Shooter variants may be better for PvP due to damage uptime and attack speed. But you really need good Physical Attack and Running Shot levels to make it work.
They aren’t useless. For example, I’ve been farming 100k HP mobs for some hours. With full draw + barrage combo I can 1-shot 2 of them. Spiral Arrow does pretty good damage with insane scaling, it 1/2-shot most of players on PvP and give pretty high single-target damage, also works pretty well on links.
Expect Steady Aim to increase around 3k or more on your Retreat Shot damage. Over time (33 hits) you get more 100k damage output. IMHO it gives more AoE total damage/potential damage than Wugushi/Rogue variants.
Pretty true, but after your SR skills are on (high) cooldown you’re with only single target skills usually. But Running Shot and other things makes it up pretty well. (IMHO Ranger AoE is really better than QS in all ways.)
The scaling over on R3 seems pretty meh imo as compare to certain circle 3
or something like the spike like of Ele meme etc.
since the gap isn’t really big for R2-> R3 which make R3 just for maximising that little damage and steady aim 5%. Accessing to spiral arrow and more points on barrage etc.
So you can afford to drop the circle if you want i guess?
Looking at the trend though most likely ranger might go out of game except steady aim for R9? i dunno could happen…
Spiral Arrow is pretty overpowered if you try it in action. Don’t you like a single target skill with 2x overheat that crits 80+% of time and hit around 35k+ per cast?
The thing is: Ranger skills have low base damage. You need high physical attack to scale them. The more physical attack you have, the more they scale. With my full draw combo, steady aim and glass mole Barrage hits 11k+22k each hit (total: 5*2 linked targets), instantly kills 2 monsters with 100k HP each.
Bounce Shot is great for aggro’ing around 6 monsters and killing monsters on low HP.
Which end up weapons + attributes is still the key. Which make my point R3 is bad scaling :<…
I do want to to avoid investing in ranger except for steady aim well… for now i guess it is pretty much useful.
I mean we won’t know what is gonna happen after SR3 as well. soo… yea.
At first, I wanted to go QS3 because it looked really fun and pavise can help your retreat shot a lot if you know when to use it (because you’ll have to dismount and your pet might go wild), but since my average ping is of around 330ms… Yeah. Ranger 3 seemed best.
About wugu 2 path… It’s all about synergy and how you like playing. I took SR because I like aoe, not single target. To make my aoe be as strong as it can be, I chose to have buffs instead of filler skills. My retreat shot unbuffed crits for 6.5k-7k, which is a lot, so you might feel it’s enough aoe dps by itself. However, if what you want is to boost your single target dps (people think SRs lack it, which is not true), taking wugu 2 might give you better fillers:
-
Ranger 3 would give you spiral arrow (which in my case, at only 30 attrs, crits for around 20k) and lvl 15 barrage (which in my case, crits for around 5k per arrow)
-
Ranger 3 would give you +10% damage for your 10 seconds burst
-
Ranger 1 Wugu 2 will give you lots of DoTs. What does that mean? More consistent damage regardless of your ping/fps/getting too far problems
-
I also would like to note I can only outdps my wugu friends when I party with a chrono guildie and, since my main damage comes from SR skills anyway, your single target might be much better than mine
@LunarRabbit
I had a completely different experience with critical shot at lower levels. Good to know it scales better than I thought, so I might put some points in it when I use the skill reset pot.
@unicorntheshiny
Well, if you don’t want to invest in your char and still make damage… Go for elememe and be done with it xD
Well… for that any SR based build heavily depends on gears. Our skills have low base damage. Look at r8 skills. Everyone have 5k+ base damage skills. We have 1600 and 2800 (without enhance attribute).
We’re the ones that needs to go in all the suffering of +7-8 weapons (minimum, anyway I never get more than this
) on crossbow, pistol and bow. High transcendence stage in both pistol and crossbow for optimal damage and all such.
Any class have bad scaling without gears. On this line of thought higher base damage classes “scale” better, which isn’t really true. It’s all pros and cons.
A good party composition can make you have 50k crits * 33 hits with Retreat Shot, even more on R8. I can’t think a higher base damage class can beat this because we have more multi hits and way more room for optimizing damage than them. But again, it’s all a matter of pros and cons.
We pay more time and silver for scaling but we have more room than other classes. As long you’re scaling your SR damage well you’re also scaling your Ranger damage. The same applies to both (aside from pistol things).
“THIS ^” :v
also “THIS ^” :v
Well i said i din’t want to invest in ranger. Not anything higher. Meme itself needs heavy investment as well on FC and up or you will fall on at R8
Thats the point i want to skip that circle due to the fact it’s low tier and take utilities ouf that . Would you invest in SR and above or invest in lower tier that will eventually be obsolete. i think it’s pointless to invest in something that will not work in the extremely long run.
Knowing that you can skip it why not. It save money
