Has IMC staff learnt nothing from applying unecessary restrictions to prevent exploiters/botters?
This will obviously affect legit players too. I can already see players complaining they bought TP Pack X from Steam and couldn’t claim their rewards in game.
If Steam’s “donation” system isn’t working, then IMC should implement their own donation system via website or whatever. Seriously guys, this is the most stupid idea ever. I imagine this can even open lawsuit possibilities from players paying real cash but not receiving what they bought in game.
In IMC’s defense: what they are applying is a restriction on newer accounts that haven’t spent much TP in the past.
This actually makes sense for various reasons, especially since (from what I can understand) its based on your STEAM account age, not your Tree of Savior account age. “This means that players who have made fewer purchases on Steam since creating their account (in accordance with the account purchase information provided by Steam) may be restricted from using more than 300 TP in-game per month.”
That will do a LOT to prevent botters/RMTers, and will affect only those who are both new to Tree of Savior, as well as steam.
Furthermore, they are allowing people to send in a ticket to LIFT the limit if needed, which is again, a recourse for those who want to spend more. “If you find that a TP spending limit has been applied to your account and want this restriction to be removed, kindly send a ticket via our Support page under the “Payment” >> “Reset TP Spending Limit” category so we can verify and process your request individually.”
And they won’t be sued successfully, since they are getting the product (eg if they buy 900, they will get 900), just they can’t spend it right away, which has never been part of the terms of the contract.
There won’t be lawsuits. Players can contact IMC to have restrictions removed and this gives IMC a chance to verify the transaction and introduce a time delay, ensuring that paid content isn’t flushed into the game economy before any payment reversal occurs.
IMC you seriously need to find better ways of fighting RMT that tons of restrictions on top of tons of restrictions. I’m pretty sure the community would give you countless good ideas, just start listening.
There are really very few ways to combat RMT. Many game companies have tried, and I can’t think of one that has done so in any meaningful way. The one idea I thought might work was when Blizzard finally implemented RMT officially in one of its games and we all saw how that went. RMT is likely to never get fixed. One thing they do need to do though is do something about the bots that help fuel the activity, and I think they do their best with that. While it can be pretty obvious that a lot of bots are in this game, moderators working for a company need to be VERY certain that it is a bot and with trying to correct that behavior before just slamming down the ban hammer or you get a lot of pissed off people in the forums unjustly banned.
IMC gets a lot of flak, and some of it is warranted, but for the most part they are basically .
This new system shouldn’t affect a majority of users, however while playing if you do receive a message saying you have been restricted, please send us a support ticket under the “Payment” >> “Reset TP Spending Limit” category and we will double check.
If you have already sent in a ticket, there shouldn’t be any problems
