As far as token benefits are concerned, I wish they would just release the game as a p2p model if they’re going to make it a lite version for free players.
As for player/public relations, they’ve been what I have been expecting as of late, but I wont really forget what they’ve done in the past. I expect PR to drop again once OBT starts.
@web_nervepress why ? why remove them? It doesn’t affect you directly does it? I mean anything with a interaction I can understand. 1:1 trading cant be done without token so it affects me directly as I want to hunt with my friends. Headgear enchant does not affect how I interact with my friends.
So one is directly related to playing the game while the other is directly related to paying cash for an advantage over other players. As in totally unrelated to playing the game.
Why not just remove headgear enchant scrolls since they aren’t related to gameplay or player growth?
Why should players have to feel entitled to buying scroll enchanted head gears with their hard earned silver on something that shouldn’t be in the game?
EDIT: If you’d like to make your own poll post though look below, but I’d really prefer if imc took the effort to start the communication process since I find it funny that I have to be the one to care when they’re the ones trying to sell the product…
So in actual fact, magic scrolls do effect how you interact with your friends AND your guild and how you go about achieving the same goal.
Awakening items involved your friends. upgrading with stat boosters, which are clearly superior and don’t reduce your weapon’s potential. Because of this it’s more convenient to use magic scrolls from the cash shop.
Edit: Not to mention Alchemists add social value to the game. People gather around them, each and every person participates. What’s the point if you’ve obtained something better from spending cash.
They could just remove Alchemists from the game, not a big loss right?
If it stays the same as KToS it will be roughly 25 Scrolls for $20.
Scrolls are 8 TP. From my understanding you only regenerate TP when you have less than 5 TP, so if you buy TP, you can’t regenerate TP until you spend down to below 5 TP left.
Just thought I should jump back into the conversation to keep numbers from getting bloated. This discussion needs to reach a middle ground, and that’s hard to do if no one has the correct numbers.
25 Scrolls for $20 is a significant difference from 33 Scrolls for $10.
Am I correct in my understanding of this discussion so far?
At the least, the drop-rates for the Scrolls needs to be improved. Both sides of the discussion have agreed on this.
At the time of this post, the majority(43%) would rather have them removed.
I however do not see this happening.
So, where’s the middle ground?
How low does the drop-rate need to be for them to feel worth $20 for 25 Scrolls?
How high does the drop-rate need to be for it to not feel as if the Scrolls are behind a paywall?
I think the best way to determine this would be to find out the most Scrolls that can be dropped in a day.
iirc someone said 2 boxes per dungeon? Do the scrolls only drop from the boxes?
Is the dungeon run cap of 2(4) for all dungeons, or each individual dungeon? Can the lower level(<200) dungeons even drop Scrolls?
Should the Scrolls even be locked behind dungeon entries?
Would they be better off as an open world rare drop from any mob?(This means that if you put the time in, you could potentially farm a ~reasonable~ amount)
It’s 2 A.M here for me, and this is my last post for the ‘night’ so please forgive any careless mistakes I may have made in this post, just point them out and try not to laugh at me too loudly.
@systemspirit uh no tp is split into 2 categories free regen and tp you bought. If you use tp it takes it directly free regen first and then to tp you bought. each scroll is 8 tp but since 5 tp is regenerative you just keep buying with 3 tp from the tp you bought
@web_nervepress Awakening items is one thing and magic scrolls is another. I don’t know why you want to intertwine the 2. You cant use magic scrolls on equipment and only headgear if that is your concern. They do similar things but on separate stuff.
What is your definition of “easily obtainable”? All I read is that it has an abysmally low drop rate (like 0.01%) that you could simply call them virtually unobtainable
Wow, So we have 90k happy buyers of ToS on steam and this mega thread only appealed to 270 users. More people should see this thread , what is this 0,03%? Thats too low. We should post this over reddit, steam forums, facebook pages. Lets spread this.
I mean I was actually floating the idea of posting this poll to the reddit and steam forums because I suspect that even the results we see in this forum would be heavily biased towards people who are supportive of imc and ToS.
If you think about it, what kind of people sign up and are active on these forums? The answer is more likely to be people who really like the game, have invested some time, want to be involved in the community, and want to get the latest news. I suspect potential players outside this forum would be more critical regarding imc’s monetization strategies. Of course, this is purely theorizing on my part so take what I say with a grain of salt I guess.
EDIT: Again though, this is imc’s product and game, they should be the ones getting feedback to ensure that their game succeeds. But if they think they know better than the possible customers they’re trying to sell their product to, more power to them I guess.
If EU gets their server, I’m kind of willing to endure some bad class balance and even some bad shop practices as long as they don’t ever overdo it.
If I can enjoy the base game with a low ping then I would just be so darn happy.
Also I agree that the world should be the place where people level. Not in some instanced place. Instances should be for loot and some experience but the main experience should come from the World grinding.
Increase the amount of monsters in certain maps and for gods sake look at monster damage in the end game. It’s all over the place. Even the best plate armour in the game has about 300 defense while monsters hit for 1200 physical. It makes people insanely reliant on priest buff scrolls. Then again tho, I’m completely up for a challenge if that’s not changed at all.
No they are not 2 different things. They all come under one umbrela (or web) of interconnected mechanics that effect one another. The accessibility and convenience of headgear enchant scrolls to obtain a better or equal advantage to other mechanics in the game. Awakening was one example. I can list more:
stat gems obtained from grinding
+1 skill gems obtained from grinding
golden anvil obtained from grinding, drops 1 every 10k kills
movement speed and aoe ratio for example can be obtained from weapons, gear and alchemist potions
elemental weapons such as arde dagger, karacha, mana-mana
elemental shields such as the one that drops from 115 dungeon
giving a hat as a gift to your friend, investing in relationships in the game
The accessibility and convenience of these head gears through the cash shop is the issue and don’t make the gameplay experience better. They are unrelated to player growth and set a bad precedent for what’s good and bad monetization in the future.
@Staff_Julie specifically, please watch the videos and read this post carefully as they are important to understanding these issues fully.
If we don’t encourage players to grow with their characters so that they can 1:1 trade, we start building around redundant systems due to having magic scrolls.
And as I said before which you clearly didn’t read (twice in the previous post):
It shows that IMC can not rely on the game’s quality and game design, that they have to rely on such methods to make things interesting.
But in fact the Skill Awakening, despite the effects being WORSE than magic enchant scrolls. Is by far a more interesting and engaging system.
Yes I am serious. And it’s not the player’s fault, it’s the developers. It wasn’t directed at anyone in particular. Also, it engaged a conversation which brought out more problems related to this issue.
@eunsongchoe1989 If such a system is supported then it will only have negative implications on the games success and longevity.
Overall reducing the enjoyment that can be experienced through playing the game. Too many problems and cross-over with other in-game mechanics. This needs to be resolved fast before the game goes f2p.
I don’t expect you guys to blindly trust what i say. I did play Ktos for a while but i stopped over a month ago when so some of my info may be out dated now but i try to keep up with the changes and patch notes. Also if you want other ktos players opinions on magic scrolls the discussion starts around post 1950 in the ktos thread and is discussed for a while after, some of the other players even consider some of the stats that scale into the late game best like aoe ratio hardly noticeable. There are also other Ktos players with the same opinon as @zhouyu47. But you can go there and read both sides of the discussion and see how many people on each side for your self.
