Less than 3000 players?

They opened a couple of official SEA RO servers recently. For example TH PH and MY/SG. The restart server on iRO alone has more players than iTOS.

A lot of people have a beef about steam politics for reasons.
When people have the choice they play the official client, launcher, from the official game without steam’s leash.
At some point, some games reached hundreds of thousands active players or millions, but the portion using steam was sometimes not even 10%
I recall some asian mmo never translated outside of chinese language shaming the success of world of warcraft too.

The Restart server is doomed to die with the way their team is doing it. They already released a ton of Best In Slot gear in the cash shop as limited time only items that you can also get by doing a lot of quests. Basically you can get anything from the cash shop by just doing quests which is 10000x times better than TOS that limits people heavily with Token time.

I haven’t checked back on them since December, but last time I did they offered OP mantles that you could slot but also give skills to, such as Greed - even before Merchants could learn the damn skill.

They have a ton of shops and bots, all which count towards their player numbers. Yes, it shows as 3000 players but barely all of those are active players. It’s just so damn easy to bot in the game and hardly any way to deter them.

Even well equipped veterans use botting to some extent in RO. In TOS botting wouldn’t do you much at the top since content is gated behind daily dungeon runs, so most wouldn’t bother. But in RO? Riches await those who bot in terms of cards, drops and money.

Just saying. I think TOS is a mere skeleton at this point but RO:Re isn’t anything too impressive. At least they don’t offer anything too pay to win and the game isn’t a mess like TOS is.

Okay, those games I mentioned are probably that old already but it doesn’t mean anything! RO is perhaps the oldest mmorpg around and its 16 years old (not even sure, maybe 17, dunno), I’m not an expert but there are several reasons for a game to succeed worldwide, as a strong company, professional publishers, advertising, etc etc etc.

There were real nice mmorpgs that followed RO style but didn’t succeed even in the asian market, this is probably a matter of deep study, as I said before I’m not an expert I barely understand why MMORPGs are generally dying since 2016, maybe the gaming community is changing fast and online games have to understand their audience better, I mean, that old hardcore no-life 24/7 gamer is part of the past right now.

This is a new generation of gamers, and there many other games and online activities out there so I guess a MMORPG need much more than dozens of features to keep players entertained for so long and people will always follow the next trend, in my humble opinion ToS might not survive that long, just saying…

Game infested with bots and hacks = doomed to die faster … and devs ignoring most problems … game will probably live 2-3 more years then it will merge all servers then everything’s free … no more tree of restriction … kill level 1 mob you makes you level 100 in an instant XDDDD

then it will probably become a private server … new games will pop out … same old MMO story …

Yes~
Back then you even had to split the Mole and Poata. Then eventually the team could do both at once or split to do them both at once. At first it was rewarding, because being able to not split them meant “I’ve grown much stronger !” but nowadays basically anybody can do it.
I mean back then it’s not like things were impossible or needed an OP party, you could do it with a party not full it’d just be longer and more difficult, but in a way that made it fun. Although the rewards didn’t make it fun most of the time.
I remember when Rexi drained everybody’s SP (making my Kabba’s Ein Sof actually useful), everybody suffered but in the end… most of us ended with Talts :tired:
I understand making it a bit easier since not everybody likes suffering but they made it too easy I feel. Finding a good balance is difficult though so it’s not like I expect them to do it right away.

And yes, a lot of games have all kinds of issues. Especially MMORPGs. They’re really difficult to get “right” because there are so many important aspects in them (and everybody has different expectations and tastes). But at least for now I found one that contents me.
I still always check TOS and play it a bit because I liked the ideas behind it and a few aspects of it. I keep hoping in a few years it will become what I want it to become, or at least get closer to it~

When I see the forum, I try to not see it as dumb complaints/trolls. I embrace Leslie Knope’s wisdom and try to just people who care loudly (a)

Dunno you guys, but if in Fedimian Server you login after 2 mins on the peak, you can’t even do dungeons.
If you can’t login during lunch time, you can’t play the game.

Fedimian got more player shops than true players… :tired:

If 40k ppl log in on itos the last months tos isnt realy dead.
Sure not as popular as FF15/WoW but no other mmo comes even close to this 2.

Srry my english sucks but you know i always imagine every imc update like a south park episode… i mean they are like "WOOO look all these new changes and events, you will have to do this and this and… " they make you feel exited and then the “These are the amazing rewards!!! 5x Fortune cookies and x10 crap and x20 crap bla bla bla”… BYE.

The game is boring and seems they are doing it on purpose maybe because focusing on the international version dont worth the effort.

not reading all this to be honest

cool

Of course it will with the server code leaked and private servers abounding, but I’m really unconvinced that it’s a better experience. The graphics are simply too dated, and the combat is kind of crappy.

What I would love, love, love to see is ragnarok online rebuilt, exactly as it was, from the ground up with new and improved netcode and graphics and combat controls.

Same stats, same classes, same maps, same mobs same skills same gear & cards.

With a team as gifted as the artists in tree of savior.

That game would destroy me. So maybe i better hope that never happens.

I believe its in human nature to never be satisfied. What seals the deal for one person might be peanuts for another. At some point of time, everybody lose interest in the old pastures and seek newer ones. The nomadic instinct instilled in us is prevalent in every being.

Yes one can head to another MMO or spend your time on another game. Another MMO with newer features and gameplay since its all new and shiny. Eventually you will hit the wall once again, now what?

The MMO model has always been like this. What makes ppl stay is actually the community. I dont know how you guys have experienced the ToS community but i met a lot of nice people on the various discords. If not for my guild or those on the discord i would have prolly left the game a long time ago.

Bottom line is ppl should play what makes them happy and deserves that precious 2-5 hours every night after a long day from school/work/kids.

I dont understand how certain beings can go about demeaning how others should spend their precious 2-5 hours. Maybe they seek joy in doing so, and i still stand by them because they actually seek satisfaction. At the expense of others? dickmove

You miss the point, maybe on purpose, maybe not.

Arguing, complaining, voicing your opinion, even if it’s a negative one, isn’t demeaning. What’s demeaning is people who roam the forum, telling others to basically shut up. How they just like to complain, how they are trolls, how their opinion doesn’t matter pretty much, etc.

Which also applies to people who roam the forum to doompost , complain about everything and telling others how to basically spend their 2-5 hours of free time. Game isn’t perfect and full of problems, but everybody’s threshold is different.

Its quite refreshing to read such post (my pov) The worrying part for ToS is when nobody complains or doompost any more. This will then indicate the game is truly dead.

My main point was to tell everybody to play what they like. For some reason , ppl get all rile up/spur negative comments when they see an individual still walking the path they abandoned. (why?)
You walk yours, i walk mine. Both of us happy , simple.

True. But it’s not the case with this thread. There’s a place and time for everything and this thread wasn’t exclusively about people loving this game. It’s a thread with complaints and counter-complaints, let’s call it this way.

Exactly. I wasn’t really directing my post at you but more at people known to pop up whenever there’s an even slightly negative post about tos or imc to derail the conversation.

It’s like some sort of conman/scammer/fraudster tactic where you trick and cheat people with huge amounts of noise and fallacies, having a reply and an excuse for everything, trying to label people as trolls and stigmatise them simply because you don’t agree with them.

What about people who roam the forum to doompost and intentionally mix numbers and meanings to confuse others and overestimate issues.

Isn’t that what conman/scammer/fraudster tactics actually are?

:tired:

If people asks you to correct yourself they’re trying to prevent you from scamming and demotivating people with false data.

I told you what I think about the “40k” number. I think the daily peak is more significant. That’s what OP was talking about because that’s the number Steam is using to make its top 100 page.

I don’t need you to call me a troll because you disagree with me.

Let me remember you:

-> Queue explained my and Ersakoz points:

-> You discarded it completely ignoring the difference between CCU and Total Players:

If someone cites a real definition there’s just no “I don’t agree with you.” - disagreeing with a definition is like saying “stones are stones” and you try to reply “I don’t agree with you, stones are solid green water bubbles covered in chocolate because they’re red”.

If you actually disagree with the definition then you should make it explicit since you’re not arguing with the person anymore at this point and that’s out of current discussions. Both sides must make their definitions and arguments clear, otherwise they’re pretty much discussing in two foreign languages.

But let’s continue now:
I replied you correcting what you said while discarding Queue’s explanation

And put a pretty nice piece of information that is what I just said - an effort to speak in the same language:
image

The first part of my post has nothing but talking you about the definition and what you discarded about it.

The second part is a development of the argument and my opinion.

The third part is just what we’re discussing again:

What answer do we get after EXPLAINING EVERYTHING in minimum details so there’s no room for misinterpretation? \ o /

So, can you actually say where I actually disagree with you? IMHO correcting and asking you to correct yourself isn’t disagreeing nor agreeing.

On top of that, what type of behavior is the last post I just quoted?

And that’s the reason I call you a troll. It’s not because I don’t agree with you.

It’s simply because you’re displaying a troll behavior. If it’s something accidental you can just apologize about it, don’t worry, everyone will understand.
